Best Mexican food in town by far! My top picks are the super tacos which are street style with steak, chorizo, and bacon, and the shrimp fajitas which have big fresh shrimp.

Wonderful, authentic Mexican food! The chicken enchiladas were wonderful… It may seem like a hole in the wall, but a warm atmosphere sweet workers. Ask for the hot sauce in smoke will come out of your ears! Try the«Orchata» The Sweetmilk for dessert

We were traveling with the grandkids from Tulsa to Fort Worth, the end of June, when every said they were hungry. My wife found this place on Unilocal so we headed in that direction. As the previous poster stated, it is a hole in the wall and off the beaten path. We walked in and was immediately seated. The place has several tables and was nicely laid out. The food was great and fresh. I had the tacos and the grandkids had the cheese enchiladas. I would definitely stop there again on my way through Durant.

I was warned by the hotel clerk that the place was a hole-in-the wall, but it was her favorite Mexican restaurant in Durant. A pizza delivery guy listening in on our conversation in the hotel lobby agreed. OK, the place wasn’t listed on Unilocal!(yet), but with two spontaneous recommendations, I gave it a try. Villegas Carniceria is a combination bakery, meat market and restaurant. Eight tables are squeezed in between racks of baked breads and pastries and produce and meat counters. If the cooks in the kitchen need any extra ingredients, well, they’re right there in the store. The fajitas looked and smelled great, but on this night, I went with the basics: a crispy beef taco and an enchilada. They were really good. Everything was fresh.(For some reason, tacos and enchiladas are almost hidden on the back of the extensive menu). Diners are offered a free small bowl of queso to go with the complimentary chips. The salsa could use some more jalapeños, but some spicier sauce is available. It turns out Villegas has been in business for years. Apparently, until now, only the locals knew.
