Used to come here a lot, Now I remember why I stopped. The food is average. Only one type of meat(Asada). Portions vary depending on who’s on that night. Service still very friendly and efficient. I probably will still come back once in a while. I just have to remember to order more food.

Don’t be scared of this old lunch truck them tacos will make up for it! I been going to Fred for over 20 years and not once was I dissatisfied with his food. Tacos come with all the fixings even guacamole! I always get carne asada tacos or his cheese quesadillas. Besides the food I love visiting Fred! We always shoot the shit and he can give you some advice if your having some personal problems. He knows your history when you show up and will check in with you how things are doing. You even get free therapist with your tacos. What more can you ask! Don’t worry about parking since it’s usually available. So hurry up and bookmark his truck and give him a visit you won’t be disappointed!

First of all. .California nails it for the abundance of food trucks, especially Mexican themed, I read about Fred’s on Unilocal, left my hotel to go looking for it and there he was 25 yards from my hotel Comfort Inn Eagle Rock. We were out for a stroll & hoped to get some chow later, knocked on the glass, hand asked«how long will you be here»? 2 am!(it was only 9:30) So we come back and order a street taco & quesadilla Taco $ 1.50 tender marinated-grilled steak, cilantro & an avacodo blend. Very very good. quesadilla $ 4.25 He was out of chicken, so we had steak on that too, but it was not just one quesadilla, it was THREE, all grilled perfectly, loaded with meat & high quality cheese. Plus the bar crowd was not out yet, and FRED the man himself is quite the personality & shared stories about moving to California in 1983& his life long dream of running a food truck. When we came back on the 2nd&3rd nights he yelled out HEYDETROIT& fist bumped us «My Man »

Fred is the best! He’s not there on weekends, so I don’t even bother. I only go when he’s there, which is on the weekdays. The food is consistent, and Fred always remembers my name … even if I haven’t been there for months. I love the torta the most!

Freddie has been on this block feeding the drunk & not so drunk night owls in Eagle Rock, decades before the rolling food truck craze. He’s a good guy who serves up good food. Always with a smile… He even remembers my friends who grew up in Eagle Rock and have been going to his truck for tacos & quesadillas since the late 80s & early 90s. Personally, I wish him the best & hope his business thrives for years to come. I usually get 4 asada tacos with guacamole only. No cilantro, pls. And to that, I add a quesadilla with meat. Trust me, the tacos & meat quesadillas are great and if you order this at night you’ll be thanking me. Fred’s… an Eagle Rock institution. On Colorado Blvd across from B of A. On the same side of the street as the motel. It’s a Comfort Inn, I believe.

Probably the best quesadilla and Torta ive ever had in my life… and damn if i eat alot of quesadillas and tortas! LOL The Quesadilla: Carne asada, gooey cheese, and a special red sauce. Its amazing! The torta… Holy GOD its as if this Torta was created specifically for my taste. I usually order a Carne asada torta, with no beans, and $ 3 extra meat. YUP!!! Its bread, filled with meat, cheese, cilantro, onions, jalapenos and tomato, a little mayo, and BANG! Heavenly. Trust me, ive had it 3 times this week so far, and for the past 15 years at least once a month.

This taco truck is parked right by Tommys burgers on Colorado Blvd. in Eagle Rock. GREAT Carne Asada tacos. They also carry a good salsa. not too hot but just enough for a kick. My daughter loves to stop there for a quick bite. I love it too! There is always a line of people waiting for food, a good sign! 2 thumbs up!

I’ve been to Fred’s Taco Truck a few times and man, he serves the best quesadillas and tacos around. Totally puts any of these«mexican» food chains to shame. If you want to try some authentic mexican food without going to mexico, Freddy’s is the way to go.

After years of stopping here I have to give my favorite taco truck some love. Fred and his truck have been within a block or two of the intersection of Colorado Bl. and Eagle Rock Bl. forever. His latest location for a few years now is a couple of blocks West of Eagle Rock Bl. on Colorado. I found a 6th basic food group here, the meat quesadilla. This truck produces a magical quesadilla that has absorbed gallons of alcohol throughout the years. A good sized tortilla with a healthy portion of jack cheese, carne asada, and a sprinkling of tomato sauce inside. That tomato sauce gives it a flavor I haven’t found anywhere else. My second favorite is the all meat burrito which is a two hander. Ok, I’ll admit I’ve never just ordered one thing at a time here. Parking is never a problem at the hours I’m there, just pull up ahead or behind the truck. I think the latest I’ve ever been here was somewhere between 3 and 4am, but I don’t actually know what time he closes his doors. The menu isn’t extensive… burrito, quesadilla, taco, torta, canned soda, maybe I missed one other item. The crowd? Around 2am there are usually a good amount of people waiting for food, but at other times throughout the night the wait is never long. Always good conversation when Fred is there, and he knows I have to take food home for the family when I stop here so he never wonders why I’m ordering so much food and I’m by myself. In Eagle Rock late at night? This is the ONLY place I’ll stop for food in this area.

you will only find me here on the weekends, when it’s Cesar’s Taco Truck NOT Freddy’s Taco Truck. i don’t like the way freddy makes my burrito, it’s way too small. cesar tries to put as much meat & it’s usually enough to share with another person. that is all. i suggest going on the weekend when cesar is working.

this is how good this taco truck is: my friend once sprayed freddy with a fire extinguisher full of water and urine in 1990(?) and freddy came out and socked him in the face. yet my friend still is a customer to this day! the tacos and quesadillas are the best. i’ve been a customer since the early 90s back when leo used to work for freddy before getting his own truck.

Freddy is the man I can remember back in the day(2004) going here almost 2 – 3 times a week with my buddy Dave, he lived right up El Rio so we would literally wall down, feast then walk back to his house and continue on with our night of debauchery and drinking Ahhhhh… Memories!!! 4 stars for sure because of how good his tacos are

so it was a random sunday night and i was hanging out with a bunch of spanish-speaking friends(plus my asian boyfriend… that speaks spanish), and after a few Tecates we were all screaming TACOS! so we loaded up in my car and drove over to the Yellow Shack(Taco Azteca) down the street from our apartment building… to find out that it was closed! AAUUGHH!!! «awwww WTF?! its closed!» «well, where else can we go?» «uhhh…(reluctantly) well… theres that taco truck in Eagle Rock we can…» «YESLETSGO! WOOO!» so im grumbling to myself on the way over. all i can think about is the first time i had this place after my friends were raving all about it… the tacos were all soppy and the carne asada was just mediocre. and Fred must be the white guy that i saw there… which freaked me out. i know im stereotyping but good tacos are made by brown-skinned people(if i wanted American food, i’d go to McDonalds.) so we pull up behind the truck, and after my boyfriend scrapes the bottom of my passenger door on the unecessarliy high curb, we walked on over to glance at the menu. now i dont know why we looked at it for so long… they only serve carne asada anyway! and after laughing histerically at the«Tort» they were serving for $ 4.00(it was suppose to be Torta) i ordered 2 tacos, praying that maaaaybe this time they’d be better. so we’re all shootin the shit, and all our food is ready at same time. and the verdict? — the tacos were piled upon with so much stuff that i couldnt even see the tortilla… lookin good so far! — hell yea, a meal for only 2 bucks! — plus another star cause the mexican guy was cooking this time. ANDTHEN… the same soppy tortilla i had last time, and just OK carne asada. i still partially enjoyed them cause of the fresh guacamole and salsa. but THEN my friend handed me a piece of his quesadilla… OMEFFINGGAWD it was the best quesadilla ive ever had in my life. seriously. im not joking. screw the tacos at this place… ive found the perfect late night spot for quesadillas. the end. ps. order the«Tort», its gianormous and pretty damn good.
