Jakari J Salon

I decided to give Jakari another chance on October 25, 2015 and again they’ve come up short… I took my daughter to get a ceramic thermal fusion in which Raquel confirmed she could do and three days later it’s a frizzy mess. I love to support black owned businesses but I don’t like to waste my time and money.

The salon is nice but the wait on a Saturday is horrible. Especially if you’re getting a weave.
They book too many people at the same time. Need to schedule better. The last time I was there was back in February 2015. Maybe they’ve gotten better.

So I have been on a hunt for an amazing black stylist since I relocated and I stumbled upon Jakari Salon through a web search and Unilocal review. The reviews were good, the pictures looked nice and the instagram photos persuaded me to make an appointment. I made an appointment for a Saturday morning but had a busy Friday so I was about 10 minutes late. I called ahead and it was not a major issue.
Parking was easy to find. The salon is kind of small but the atmosphere is nice. All the stylist were pleasant and respectful. It appeared as if there was no one waiting for long periods of time which is always a plus!
I came in for a deep condition and a roller set. Because this was my first time at the salon I did not have a specific stylist. Since GIGI had availability for the time I wanted I made my appointment with her. My hair was nice. Gigi was pleasant and did not take a long time. I give the experience 3 stars instead of more because when I leave a salon I really expect that WOW factor and although my hair was nice. It did not really exceed my expectations. I would visit the salon again and I would even recommend it but I will just continue my salon search because I need the WOW factor.
OH FYI there was a stylist there that was a colorist… I think her name is Racquel and she does amazing hair!

my hair is all natural now, they helped me transition from a relaxer start may 2013 and I’ve been coming to the salon from long island ever since. Every time I’ve been there its a great experience, the staff is very friendly and accommodating! This salon does the best jobs with safely straightening natural hair without damaging or burning it. They also do excellent sew in weaves, I’ve been Everywhere looking for a stylist to do a decent and reasonably priced weave, (no one ever asks me if i have a weave when I get it done because it looks so natural) 5 stars across the board! for every service I’ve done here, wash and blow, cuts, weaves, colors, and deep conditioners. I don’t let anyone else do my hair.

I’m always skeptical of getting my natural hair straightened, but Jakari came highly recommended. I called the salon looking to make a same day appointment and they gave me an one within the hour. My stylist was Raquel. She did a great job washing my hair (not too vigorously to avoid tangles) and straightening my hair using a moderate temperature iron. She got my hair straight and bouncy with one pass of a flat iron. Shanel finished me off, trimming my hair and giving me big barrel curls before putting it in a doobie. The prices were excellent and I’m positive I won’t have heat damage at the end of the day. Everyone in the salon was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and listened to my hair care concerns. Salon is a bit on the small side, so I wouldn’t want to be in there when it was packed. The hydration treatment is an absolute must! I will definitely be back.

I revisited Jakari J last week and loved the service. Customer service was great and Bre, the stylist did a a fantastic job. I’ll definitely be visiting more frequently.

I have come here three times so far to maintain my beautiful color! Staff is very friendly! Shanel the owner is very nice and attentive! Rochelle rocks! My color always look on point when its her hands. U always need a lot of patience dealing with women and hair and they have it!!!

I’ve been here a few times and always have a great experience. My hair being natural, I don’t trust anyone to straighten or cut it. EXCEPT for the stylist here. I’ve been getting my hair done by Shanel and she really knows what she’s doing. Domonique did my hair once and it was nicely done then too. I even had my mother go for a color and style and she was very much satisfied. Love the salon. I always want to sleep at the wash bowl with the massage chair. Not rowdy or loud like other salons and when I make an appointment my time is kept!

Young girls that’s dont have alot of experience. the only one with experience is the owner channel. the other girls are not yet skilled, got my hair done by a Young girl named dominque and did not like it, she’s very slow. was there for hours. and another young lady named bri did my friends hair and was not happy. the young girl has a attitude with a attitude face. not good if you want to keep getting clients. place is small and the only thing that was great was the massage chair where you relax and have your hair washed at once… other then that I don’t and won’t be going back. girls have a attitude! Pricey

Jakari J Salon is the best upcoming salon for all your hair care needs. They care for and promote healthy hair. Many thanks to the professional stylists and staff. I will sure be back many many times over.
