This place was delicious! We were visiting from Chicago and this place was nearby my mom’s. It was up to us one night to scout out dinner so we chose Pho911. The inside of this place isn’t super fancy but it doesn’t need to be. It does have some tables to sit at and I love that they have groceries for you to buy in there too. I ordered just a typical beef phở and my boyfriend ordered the beef ball phở. The bowls were huge and super-delicious. They do have some Thai options on the menu which I was excited about. I even let the guy know who was working there that day that we were visiting from Chicago and that it was more delicious than some of the other places I frequent in Chicago for phở! I’ll definitely be back next time I visit the area again!

We hit this place hard when it first opened, then they expanded and maybe a bit off a little more than they could chew. The last time we went, the meat in the Bahn mi was really tough — like we got the end pieces of the headcheese. Gross. I still give it three stars because when it good, it’s really good. It is unheated, so bundle up in winter. About as no-frills as you can get. Pretty much Vietnamese street food served inside a building. Not a bad thing. Phở ga is delectable and you can bring wine!!!(Also bring something to open the wine!!!)

We’ve been here numerous times and this is what you can expect: friendly people(family run), casual atmosphere, reasonable prices, large portions(you’ll have left overs), and flavorful options. We always get the basil fried rice and chicken drunken noodles. In my opinion(I hope they read this) there should be more noodles in the drunken noodles dishes. I LOVE veggies, but I would prefer the«normal» mostly noodles with«some» veggies. I love the noodles so much, but there are always so many veggies and not so many noodles. If you like either of those two dishes, definitely try them here. *update, was in recently and ordered two dishes we always order. Completely different tastes than usual, was odd. The basil was obviously frozen(not fresh) prior to cooking. Idk if there is a different cook or what? But we liked their food more before. Still good, but just not as robust and bursting with flavor.

So, as anyone who has read my other reviews knows, I like a good bahn mi. Emphasis on «good». Because I’ve had bad bahn mi and have no patience for it. This place is on point with their bahn mi. The bread is right, the veggies are right, the vietnamese cold cuts are right. All the right flavors are there and are perfect. It is bangin delicious. Perfect size, hits the spot and is the IDEAL summer sandwich. Cold cuts and cold, crunchy veggies with a ton of fresh flavor on a slightly crusty french roll. I will eat many of these this summer. Only comment is price. Bahn mi are small sandwiches and I’m a big enough guy where 1 just isn’t enough. So I want 2. At $ 5+tax each, we’re now looking at $ 10.50 for two. If it were $ 4 or even $ 4.50, I’d be in heaven. Having said that, I’ll suck it up and pay the $ 1 over-standard-bahn mi-asking-pricing because they are genuinely that good. I’m just comparing it to other bahn mi I’ve come across. I will end up trying everything at this place eventually because it’s close to my work and so far so good.

I just had lunch here with a friend. By no means will it be the last time we go. I had steamed dumplings while I waited, and couldn’t wait to try the soup, as they were fantastic. The soups did not disappoint. I had the soup with fish balls and ground pork, and my friend had the roast pork phở. Both we fantastic! A true little known gem!

Was it great? No. Was it terrible? Also no. I may viewing the New Haven phở situation with warped lenses because I come from a place with huge Vietnamese community. The phở is cheap and bomb. New Heaven is almost a phở desert. So sad. Anyway the bowl of phở I got at Phở 911 was all around mediocre. It was pricey for what it was – a small lump of rice noodle with some slices of beef and a few beef balls. The broth was ok. But it was overall MEH. The spring rolls were also whatever and incredibly tiny. It’s funny that this place is called Phở 911. I certainly wouldn’t call this place if I had a phở emergency.

I love finds like Phở 911, a small restaurant within an Asian Market. A quick ride from work, makes it a perfect place for lunch. I popped my Eat24 cherry, and easily ordered my lunch for pick up. I wasn’t sure I would be able to find the market, but Phở 911 is hard to miss, with its bright green paint job. The place is small, and when I showed up, all of the tables were full. I did not get a chance to check out the market during this visit. When I mentioned that I was picking up an order, a man ran circles around me to gather my order. I was in and out within 3 minutes. I had ordered a Thai Iced Tea, Summer Rolls and Phở Ga Soup. The tea was refreshing and not too sweet. My Summer Rolls, while fresh and delicious, we’re not as tightly packed as I am used to. The sauce served with the rolls was interesting… in a good way. Less of a sauce, more like an oil with crushed peanuts. The Phở Ga, when order to-go, comes in 3 parts; broth, veggies with limes and sauce & chicken with noodles and greens. Thank God, I had a bowl big enough for everything, back at the office. The broth was rich and flavorful. I could probably drink that by itself, but that wouldn’t be any fun. So, I added my shredded chicken, noodles, green onions, cilantro, lime and sauces. Swirling the ingredients around with my chopsticks, the aromatic vapors hit me and I was instantly in my happy place. My coworkers laughed at me, as I danced for joy in my seat.

My first time trying Vietnamese/Thai food. It was awesome. Very different from the typical Chinese delivery. I was pleasantly surprised. All fresh vegetables used and very tasty. Chicken was nice and tender in my Lad Na. Wonton soup was hot and very tasty. The egg rolls were nice and crispy, not greasy. I will definately order again.

Phở 911 is the real deal! I’ve seen a few reviews from people who have gone once or twice, well I’ve been over 20 times now and I have to say I’ve been pleased every time. The Phở is delicious, fresh, and the portions are huge. Seriously some of the best phở I’ve ever had. For $ 8 you can’t go wrong. I’ve tried lots of other dishes there as well like the pad thai, drunken noodle, pad see ew, lad na, and pineapple fried rice. All we’re delicious! The staff is super friendly and always greet me by name. They have a new dining area as well so bring your friends! You’ll never wait long for takeout, my order is always ready in 10 minutes or less. Please take my advice and give Phở 911 a try, you won’t be sorry!!!

I was ready to give a four or even five star review after going here twice and rejoicing over the fact that my neighborhood finally has a phở place… until my third visit tonight, which pains me to reduce my star rating. This is a local, hole-in-the-wall, nothing fancy to the eye, family-run place that offers vietnamese and thai cuisine. Every visit thus far, there have been several young children(of the owners), running around, doing homework and playing with toys. The wife does the cooking while the husband is usually doing varying tasks inside and outside of the establishment. The teenage daughter typically does the order taking, serving, etc. They have recently upgraded their seating area a bit, whereas a few months ago this was part asian market, part restaurant. Now, there is a larger seating area with only a few small shelves of grocery items for purchase. The phở is average, I appreciate having it as an option, since its close to where I live and the prices are fair. The meat was a little fatty and chewy the first time I had it. In addition to the phở, they have a small assortment of apps and rice/noodle dishes on their menu. Drunken noodles are my go-to thai dish in most instances, so I ordered that during my visit this evening. It was served steaming hot, with fresh looking veggies and overall visually appealing. I like spicy food and hence the reason why I like drunken noodles. But these were over the top, burned-my-taste-buds spicy. I was overwhelmed by the spicyness so much so, that I couldn’t enjoy the true flavor of the dish as a whole. Additionally, the taro slushy tea I got wasn’t blended smoothly enough for me… too many large pieces of ice, especially considering the place has no heat and I was freezing to begin with. Guess I should have stuck to phở and hot tea. The icing on the cake was the woman siting next to me ordered pad thai and found a fly in her dish as she was eating. I learned of this as I was preparing to leave and wouldn’t have believed it, but saw it for myself. A huge black fly mixed into her noodles. Pad fly? Ughhh. I honestly feel bad because I see this is a neighborhood family run place that had great potential. Now I surely hesitate to return.

I was disappointed on my second trip. They were out of Bahn mi. They ran out of crispy egg rolls after my order. This was during lunch. I will make sure I call ahead next time. The service is very pleasent and freindly, but they need to hire staff to accommodate dining room. The food is worth it especially if you do take out… just be willing to wait.

I love Phở soup and am delighted to have a place close by to get it now!!! Also, try out their dumplings. You can bring them home and microwave one minute with a wet, wrung out paper towel over it to maintain moisture. Phở soup is always best anywhere eaten at the restaurant piping hot but if you take it home make sure to microwave broth to make it super hot, especially with the beef stock phở soup, before putting it all together. I will definitely return to Pho911.

I buy groceries here too, everything is fresh and inexpensive, the owner and his wife are so nice. So times ive felt unwelcome in other asian grocery stores but never here. Anyway the food in amazing, well made and its nice to skip the formal atmosphere. Reminds me of being back in Vancouver in a small phở stall. Dont miss this one

Absolutely delicious. The Phở was out of this world– huge portions with all of the fixings on the side. The waitstaff serves complimentary green tea– so kind! The egg rolls were crispy without being greasy. The restaurant is clean and inviting, waitstaff is friendly, and prices are fair. There was a constant stream of customers who are in the know about this little gem. I’m so glad to have a place like this in the New Haven area. Pho911 is now a staple for us!

What a pleasant surprise! You’ll find this place in the back of the Asian market off Foxon Rd. If you’re looking for ambiance, this isn’t the place for you. This is straight up, no frills good homestyle cooking. I had the combination Phở and a Banh mi, both were out of this world! The broth and noodles were perfect, fresh veggies and a clean space were icing on the cake for me. It’s worth a try if you’re in town.
