La Piazzetta Cafe II

This location has been through many iterations since we moved in to the neighborhood in 2010 but we always missed the restaurant that was there when we first moved in. When La Piazzetta Café II opened we tried it and were extremely happy to find out that the chef from the restaurant 5 years ago was back. The food is even better than before. We have since been back 2 more times including tonight, we also ordered pizza for delivery once.
Now to the food. The tomato sauce is excellent which contributes to many of the dishes. The fried calamari is lightly breaded, crispy and perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. The baked clams are fresh and delicous. The chicken parm is thin, crispy, tender and possibly the best chicken parm I have had in a restaurant. The shrimp parm is also perfectly cooked and crunchy, fresh and 6 really large shrimp are the norm the 3 times my wife has ordered it. Penne ala vodka is creamy, not watery or too thick, nice flavor with pieces of proscuitto, the penne is cooked perfectly al dente. Tonight we took my in laws for their anniversary and they had the eggplant parm and the calamari fra diavalo with linguini. My in laws really liked both dishes. The dishes are large, we always end up taking leftovers home.
A week or two ago we ordered a plain cheese pizza and had it delivered. The pizza came quickly and had a nice crispy think crust, again the sauce was excellent and we were really happy to have another good pizza delivery option.
All in all a great italian restaurant. We are very happy to have them in the neighborhood.
