I’m here on a Sunday morning and this place isn’t open. Called a few times but no answer. The gate is down with no signs of business inside. Unilocal shows them as open so I don’t know what’s up. I’m very disappointed since I drove all the way from Hillside to East Orange for their patties that I was planning to treat my family with just to find out they are closed during their normal business hours. I’m giving them 3 out of the 5 stars for this bull crap.

I’ve been looking at this place for several months and finally decided on intentionally visiting. I was not disappointed. No frills ambience wise but that’s ok. The service was pretty friendly and very helpful. I’m not Haitian so I wasn’t sure about what to order. I must say that for $ 10 bucks I got my fill! I got 2patties, one chicken(meh, ok) and the HERRING(fabulous!), spicy smoky flavorful and buttery flaky crust! I had chicken bread(ok, filling) and some delicious squash soup. I also had some pastries I forgot the name but they were good. I figure this is a good spot if you are short on cash but want some real food to eat. Definitely worth putting into your rotation

Small clean spot. Not much on display except some cold cuts, chocolate and carrot cake. I don’t come for the ambiance. I come for the Haitian patties. The fish patties specifically. These flaky, almost buttery, crispy puff pastry that envelopes the salty, spicy, fish keeps me coming back for more. I’ve had the fish, beef and chicken so far. The beef is okay a little lackluster since my pallet automatically pits it against the famed Jamaican beef patty. To which, it can’t hold a candle to. The Haitian crust tops all because it is puff pastry, however. The chicken Patty is a bit better than the beef. I usually order two fish & one chicken patty. The customer service is blah. She always looks as if she’s unsure if I know what to expect when I order, which after 4 times is slightly annoying. Yet again, I don’t come here for the ambiance nor the customer service. I come for the patties damnnit and I will continue to do so!

This little bakery in East Orange is a hut of baked goodies. They have a variety of finger licking good(«koupe dwèt» as they say in Haitian Creole) chicken, beef, spinach, cod and hareng patties. You will find also yummy Haitian squash soup, hot chocolate and ginger tea. Price wise: very, very affordable. For example: a dozen patties costs just $ 10.

I found this place on Unilocal, and it’s amazing. If you’re looking for a good bakery this is the place. More than pleasantly surprised! Had their chicken, fish, and spinach patties and all were outstanding. Very hard to find a good bakery these days, and this Haitian bakery is the best I’ve had in a very, very long time. The service was terrific, the people are very pleasant there. Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed.

I wish computers had atomizers. I would begin this review by letting you squirt throughout your room the delicious smells that led to my discovery of this new treasure in our zip code. ‘Your Daily Baguette’ opened about 2 months ago, but I did not notice it until I spotted a line-up of yellow taxis. When I opened the car window, I understood why. Most taxis in East Orange are driven by Haitians, and usually they line up at a Dunkin Donuts down the street. That is changing now that home cooking fills the air. ‘Your Daily Baguette’ combines the best of Haitian and French baking. The croissants are to die for. But I wanted to try something I had never heard of, a hot pastry filled with herring. I like pickled herring out of a can, but that pales to fresh herring in a hot pastry. The herring surprised me with a spicy bite. Heavenly! Many items are on the menu, but you won’t see many on the shelves when you enter. That’s intentional. Instead you will smell many others in or just coming out of the oven. Francis the cook and owner likes it that way. If you want something from the menu not cooked already, you can order it on arrival and he will have it ready in 15 minutes. Or you can call ahead to let him know you’re coming. I purchased additional pastries for later today — a spinach pastry for lunch and a chicken pastry for dinner. But I took my cue from Francis: I won’t hoard others for tomorrow. It’s less than a mile from home and well worth any effort to get there. Manna, I tell you. Manna! Francis shares the Pope’s name and his humility. He worked for the Central Bank of Haiti for seventeen years and then followed his wife to the United States. He has earned an MBA here and is putting it into practice splendidly. P. S. While the building is on Central Avenue, the bakery fronts on S. Clinton.
