Excellent homemade ice cream prepared in fresh batches nearly every day. It is very reminiscent of the old time candy shops and has a large selection of both ice cream and candy. Hard ice cream only. But is there really any other kind? Favorite flavors are by far dark chocolate with sea salted almonds, and salted butter caramel.

Best ice cream around, hands down. Came here after looking through Unilocal for a good ice cream spot and I was not disappointed. I had a brownie sundae with salted butter caramel ice cream and oh my. I was in heaven. If you have the chance and you’re in the area, heck even if you’re not in the area, make the trip. It is so worth it. They also have a lot of candy and cutest shirts for sale.

Very nice staff! We even took our Girl Scout troop there for a tour by the owner and we got to make our own ice cream. The special flavors change frequently and I’ve never had one I didn’t like. Sitting outside on a warm day is the perfect way to spend an afternoon!

Mt. Tom’s made a three-tiered ice cream cake for us for our wedding in Amherst, MA, this summer. It was absolutely delicious and a huge hit with our guests — plus, it even looked like a real wedding cake!

Homemade and delicious. I have my favorite favors but occasionally try specials. Vegan chocolate(almond milk) tasted like a fudgicle! We walk from our house so we don’t feel so guilty!

An absolute gem of a place for Easthampton! I have been here several times and have always had great experiences. Real, delicious ice cream, friendly staff and reasonable prices. They have flavors that always stay, plus specials that rotate through. If you’re feeling adventurous they often have unique flavors like lavender, «surprise breakfast,» and blueberry pancake. We will definitely be back!

Friendly, patient girls behind the bar! We brought in a party of 9 and they were happy to have us taste what we wanted and took time to have us decide! A darling little parlor in a quaint little town! We got our delious ice cream creations and strolled the town. A must hit!

A solid competitor for best ice cream in the state. Most all of their flavors have been fine tuned to near-perfect, and they often have rather unusual stuff like lavender or grape nut for the adventurous. This place really contributes a lot to the feel of Easthampton, and we’re lucky to have it.

Tried this place tonight for the first time after discovering it on Unilocal. It’s hard to think of something that hasn’t already been said in the other reviews. I stepped outside my comfort zone so to speak with ice cream flavors and tried the«Burnt Sugar» ice cream. It was really really good. My wife had the«Chocolate Brownie» ice cream and loved hers as well. It was great to see all the candies too, some of them brought me back to my childhood. It’s easy to settle for the soft ice cream from the little roadside places, but sometimes you should treat yourself and your family to some real ice cream. This is the place to do it. The proprietor Jim is doing a lot of things right here. Try this place out.

As a Northampton native who grew up on Herrell’s ice cream, I’m not ashamed to say I have a new favorite ice cream: Mt Tom’s. Jim, the owner, is usually in the shop himself, and always willing to answer questions, and often scooping ice cream himself. He comes up with creative flavors right next to the usual ones. He takes pride in making high quality ice cream, and also loves to hire high school kids to work for him. In summer, the long lines are worth the wait! The staff is always friendly, no matter how busy it is, and the candy shop is just a bonus to the ice cream. I often get an ice cream pie for family holidays, and you can get pints and quarts to go!

Spectacular. The best ice cream anywhere I’ve been, ever. It makes Haagen Daz seem like Breyer’s, and I think Haagen Daz is great. All homemade and sometimes innovative favors like secret breakfast: cornflakes and bourbon. Or lavender, which is delicate and savory and rich and creamy and unlike anything else I’ve had. This man makes sorbet and gelato too. My personal downfall is his salted butter caramel, which is like finding Jesus when you eat it. It’s amazing plain in a cup, in one of the homemade waffle cones, with the homemade hot fudge, or in a milkshake. I have to try out one of the constantly, sometimes seasonal changing specials(apple pie, local fresh strawberry, egg nog, maple bacon, jalapeño, etc) on a free tasting spoon every time I visit, but I mostly get this one. And you will earn huge points with your dinner guests if you bring home a pint of any of his classic flavors for dessert: butter pecan, cookie dough, pistachio, plain old chocolate. He does all of it very well. And you get an old time candy shop as a bonus. I don’t know where else to buy Willy Wonka’s Bottle Caps, Giant Pixy Stix and Sky Bars(also an ice cream flavor here occasionally). You get all this from a nice man who makes books of his photographs and has a really nice young staff in a place that seems like the ideal of what an ice cream shop should be. Your kids will make you come here three times a week and you won’t mind. The last word should be their motto: Life is short. Eat ice cream.

Hate to ruin the 5 star craze but the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream was the worst we’ve ever had. Every spoonful tasted like butterscotch! not the creamy vanilla ice cream it usually is. The choco chips and cookie dough pieces were sickeningly sweet. I got the cookies and cream and I’ve had much creamier/tastier. The other flavor I got in the medium cup escapes my memory, so it must not have been very good! I did sample the chocolate peanut butter and thought it was perfectly creamy and delicious. I should have ordered that one but thought it was too heavy at the time.

This place is incredible! We stopped in at Mt. Tom’s recently while walking through Easthampton and have to say that we were amazed at the amount of different choices they had under one roof! This shop had both incredible ice cream and a great selection of candy. It was difficult to not walk out with your hands full of delicious goods! The staff here was incredible as well They were extremely polite and quick to serve the masses! The ice cream itself was phenomenal and my favorite was plain vanilla. It tasted so fresh and it was easy to tell that this shop takes pride in their products. Great shop in a great little town!

Best. Ice cream. Ever. Stop. I can no long endorse any other ice cream shop. This has defeated them hands down. The owner is amazing, and makes all the batches by hand. I love his desire to push the flavor envelope.(A friend of mine tried the pickle flavor.) The cakes are amazing. The cookie sandwiches are too. It’s a small shop, but there are tables outside. There are games and books in the windows, if it’s a slow day. The candy is amazing, and one of the longest candy aisles in Western MA, at least in my experience.

This place is INSANELY good. I love the huge variety of flavors. They had Salted Caramel Cheese Cake, Mexican Chocolate, Popcorn, and wait… wait…Pear Walnut Gorgonzola sorbet. O. M. G.(I know all you foodies are double-fisting your hair, mouths agape, gasping in awe.) They have normal flavors, too, like cookies and cream, vanilla, etc. if you’re the unimaginative type but seriously, where they shine is with their extensive offerings of unique creative cold concoctions. This is also a place that has a HUGE selection of candy. Gummie everything(octopus, minibus). Do NOT bring your small children here unless you have the time to let them run it off in the park’s playscape. Excellent quality on their ice cream and froyo. Great friendly staff. They have the square on an iPhone to pay by plastic. Got to dig a place that has great technology, ability to use plastic with no minimum, and super-crazy good flavors. Get thee to Mt. Tom’s, post haste!
