Grocery is excellent. Prices? Great, if you’ve just won the lottery!

A wonderful store that gives back to the community. A great supporter of Eden Prairie schools — many many thanks from the EP Alpine Team. I live across town but will be making the trek to shop at Kowalski’s!

Kowalski’s is a great neighborhood store. They have many gourmet items that you won’t find at big box. Check the produce closely– many issues with freshness.

Great Deli here, sushi not bad either. Kind of expensive but the quality is always top notch.

I didn’t realize that Eden Prairie is the Beverly Hills of Minnesota, until I walked into this Kowalski’s. I don’t grocery shop at the one near me in St. Paul. That wouldn’t be the case if I lived here. I forgot what I came in to buy, but some things were quite memorable. An organic drink by Guayaki called Pure Heart. I noticed a Bob Marley drink, but only God knows what was in that. I walked by a display of cornflakes, that was arranged like something from Nordstrom’s at Christmastime. I agree with Rachel about the cheese dept. I am still eating one of the best Vermont White Cheddars, I’ve ever had, and it’s the store brand. It’s in the back of the store, along with the bathrooms, which I thought I should hit having such a long drive. This private bathroom is nicer than most restaurants. The floor and tiles are one thing, but the frigging ceiling is some kind of shiny copper. When I get my mold, rotting bathroom done, I’m taking him here. So I’m at the sink and there’s Caldrea liquid soap, that’s also in French. So what do they have as soon as you walk out, but a whole display of them. I got the ginger pomelo that was in the bathroom. Also right there are kitchen gifts. The front and back of the place you can decorate your whole house. The useless item I bought was a little green butter or soft cheese spreader. They carry the Gooseberry brand of cookbooks. I’ve never seen a grocery store where items are so carefully placed, like their own bakery cupcakes, at the Checkout. I swear this place should double as a focus group.

This is more of a public service FYI than a review. I got the stomach flu from their salad bar. Be VERYVERY careful at this, and any other salad bar you go to because it is so easy to catch this horrible virus. I lost 12 pounds in 4 days(which is really effective diet, but NOT recommended lol). I have had their salad bar many many times before without a problem. I work in Eden Prairie and it used to be a staple lunch location for me, but this last time, it tasted off. I don’t think I have been that sick in all my life! I’m really disappointed because I can’t bring myself to eat there again and I really used to enjoy the convenience and variety. I’m sure this is what caused it because the doctor asked me if I had eaten at a salad bar recently and sure enough…

My all time favorite«neighborhood» grocery store! I have to say I’ve been a loyal costumer for years and I stop by here way to often. I love all the attention to «organics» and«healthy» eating. It’s such a great shopping experience. You won’t find every variety(on particular food items) like you would in the larger supermarkets but you’ll find what you’re looking for. I like it for smaller trips when I’m just needing a few items or out of a few staples at home. Staff are always friendly here. They even bring your groceries out to your car for you! Now who does that anymore? It’s not only a «gourmet» grocery store. They have a great selection of cards and«unique» gifts scattered all around the store. Often times hard to resist when you’re grocery shopping. I also love their cheese department and deli. I think their best deal for lunch is the«3 salad sampler» for $ 6.99. Often enough for 2 people. Can’t forget to mention the large meat and seafood too. Prices seem competitive with other specialty grocery stores. If you like«rotisserie» chicken I have to tell you theirs is the«best» one in town!

If Byerly’s and Whole Foods spawned a new, smaller store, it would be Kowalski’s. Instead of carpet or chandeliers, Kowalski’s has low(er) lighting, paper lanterns and kiddie-sized shopping carts in addition to regular-sized ones so your kids can pretend they’re shopping too. That was definitely a huge hit and I appreciate that they seem much more sanitary than the red and yellow cars attached to Cub Foods’ shopping carts. The canned, jarred and dried foods come in only a couple of brands, so there’s little choice in terms of variety or pricing. The cheese section looks like a mini-version of Byerly’s, and the produce section is a mini-version of Whole Foods’ — except with whole-sized prices. I came in specifically looking for scallops — dry packed sea scallops(not the frozen bay scallops). Boy, did I find scallops! They were absolutely beautiful 10 ct scallops… at $ 23.99/lb. Yeah, so at least now I know where to find them in case I ever win the lottery. My daughter and I came early one Saturday afternoon and we enjoyed quite a smörgåsbord of samples. Apparently that’s the time to come. The employees are incredibly nice; the store is lovely and clean. I wish I could afford to shop here more often! Maybe I’ll just start visiting on Saturday afternoons.
