Andrew was super helpful! He took extra time to talk to us and make sure the bike was absolutely perfect that we rented. He also took time to tell us about our route and was very knowledgable. Really passionate folks here and they have a crazy selection of every kind of bike you could ever want!

This is an excellent bike shop. Great service. Wide selection. Really nice people! And right next to Lucky Hanks — one of the best places to eat in Edgartown.

Sep 6, season winding down. $ 25 a day, no hourly alternative(seems same for all on the Island and way too bad). Bikes were ok. Service was marginal. I asked about a basket rather than a side pocket and was told there were none– plenty on the bathroom wall. No map offered, no prices posted. Hmm

I found the repair staff to be incredibly helpful. My wife’s bike was missing a part that holds the gear shift cable onto the frame. I called them up — they told me to come right down — and then they took me right away and charged me very little for the repair. They were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. And they even took a quick look at the tires and properly inflated them. I’ll also mention that I called another one of the highly rated bike shops prior to calling Edgartown Bicycles. The other shop was not helpful and mentioned that they wouldn’t have had the part for my old bike(1997 Canondale). Edgartown had no issue with the part — or the age of the bike. This user would highly recommend the repair staff.

Good location easily accessible from downtown Edgartown. Unfortunately you pay by the day and we went just after noon — so it was just as expensive as if we’d had them all day and we couldn’t keep then later than 6. We were a group of 4 and two of the bikes were a little wobbly, but overall good. The guy who helped is adjust the bikes before we took off was incredibly helpful. Also they have trail/road maps if you ask for one.

The bikes were OK. The bikes were big and clunky. The seats were uncomfortable. We are use to top notch bikes so maybe we are a bit bias. They did the job for our biking outing.

Recently went up to Martha’s Vineyard for my annual vacation, I usually bring my car, but wife likes to ride bikes now and again, so we decided to go with Edgartown Rentals. PLEASENOTE: ***1 day rental is not an actual 24 hour rental, no matter when you rent it that day you must return it by 5:30pm, otherwise you incur an overnight charge to return it in the morning.*** So you could be paying a days worth of rental, for only a couple of hours. The owner I must say is very nice, he took me around the shop, told me about bikes, offered to give discounts if I purchased the bike and even helped put my bikes into the the car. My complaint is with the employee(she is Asian), everything was going smooth until she swiped my credit card, there outdoor credit machine is very slow, so slow in fact that she asked if I just had cash. She asked if I could get cash instead, so I did the atm is not far, I thought she had cancelled the transaction. Fast forward to the next day: When returning the bike: She says I called you, but your payment for the two bikes went through, it didn’t cancel. So I was charged in both cash and on my credit card, no big deal at first, I asked her just to refund it. Before she was helping me a young man was helping me, THEYDON’T TELLTHATIFYOUDON’T RETURNTHEBIKETHATDAY you get a $ 10 overnight charge for each bike, I don’t mind this, but they should make this extremely clear before customers leave with bikes. The original employee who was helping me(not the Asian lady), said he would cut me break and give me a $ 5 late charge for both bikes. Then the Asian lady jumped in when she remembered my face, and told me my credit card had been charged, she said they would reimburse me in cash, fine no big deal. Then he tells her that he is charging me $ 5 for the overnight fee for each bike, she’s say no $ 10 late charge and we will deduct it from the mistake charge she did. I thought it was very unfair for one minute to tell you will charge a total of $ 10, and then change it to $ 20 once she realized she had to reimburse me money, and on top that of I didn’t even know about these late fee charges, they aren’t stated anywhere on the receipt . Alll in all very poor customer service, I originally was looking to buy a bike from them, but as soon as I saw the Asian lady did not want to cut me break and charge me full freight for the late charges when a previous employee said he would give me a discount, I took my business elsewhere and bought three BIKESTOTALINGOVER $ 1800… by being an a**hole, and nickel and diming me, you lost a lot of business… good job earning your $ 20

Be careful of misrepresentation at Edgartown Bicycles. We stopped in today at 2:30 pm to rent bikes for my wife and I for«a couple hours.» An Asian lady greeted us and quickly identified 2 bikes which she claimed were premium bicycles that normally she would charge $ 35 each but for $ 50 cash she was giving us a «discount.» We brought our own helmets and she provided a lock. We had a good ride along the beach road toward Oak Bluffs, and returned to the shop to drop off the bikes at 4:30 pm. A man was working at that point– we learned upon our return that the regular rental rate is $ 25 per day; there are no hourly rates and we received no discount; we potentially could have kept the bikes overnight for another day but this was not disclosed, nor was the fact that we could have gotten other accessories with the bikes as part of the fee. While the bikes were good quality(except for very hard seats) and rode well, we do not appreciate the outright lie about the rate and discount; most likely she was pocketing the cash off the books. And the overall misrepresentation — noted but denied upon our return including no apology and no offer to keep the bikes longer — means this shop has likely lost another customer.

We ordered two bikes in advance, one women’s bike and one men’s with a baby seat. The bikes got delivered to our house on time, but did not have the necessary accessories, such as the side panniers water bottle holders or the back racks. The website advertises that the rental hybrid bikes are«the perfect bikes for riding to the beach, shopping areas or running errands. Each rental comes complete with a rear cargo rack, side pannier bag, water bottle holder, lock and helmet included in the price.» We surely could not use the bikes for the beach or shopping as they were missing the necessary accessories for storing our belongings. After we pointed out to the manager that our bikes did not come as advertised, we were told that August was a busy season and the website was outdated. We would have still kept the bikes and paid the regular rate if they were at least flexible enough to waive the delivery fees. Edgartown Bicycles refused to do and picked up the bikes at no cost to us. They could have kept my business and two weeks worth of rental fees, but they were unwilling to acknowledge their misrepresentation of the bikes or any wrongdoing on their end. I will not be renting from them again, there are plenty of other options on the island.

I had a great experience renting a Roubaix from Edgartown Bicycles. The rental guys were total pros, paid close attention, and treated us like valued customers(even though it was our first visit). After we rented our bikes we stopped by on an early morning Sunday ride before the shop opened. One of the service guys happened to come by to meet his group for a ride, opened the shop, and was happy to make the adjustments we needed. These guys ride, know bikes, and offer exceptional service. Highly recommended.

I would like to post with a caveat – this experience was in the summer of 2010 and i mistakenly posted under the wrong bike shop. I live on MVY6 of the 12 months so not sure how that happened. The experience i related below is still very m memorable for me. II was looking for some work on my current bike OR to purchase a new bike. I bike a lot, but did not go in there in bike gear. I am middle-aged, and probably don’t look like the classic biker. However, i did describe my needs, and explained i do 20 – 40 miles/day, prefer road biking, have a different bike for errands, and my current on-island road bike is a Bianchi with worn out gears, drop handle bars, and certain geometry. VERY condescending i got a ‘little math lecture’. «Well, let’s do the math, a new stem $ 25, a new set of handle bars, we could do 30 or lower…» He failed to even account for the new shifters required to change from drop bar to touring. Clearly he was not listening. Then i forced the issue of a new bike, wouldn’t it possibly be a potential time to simply get a new island bike? Again, very condescendingly I was told to do my homework(although I mentioned I had already been on line looking at Specialized bikes), he could not tell me the specific differences between ‘good, better and best’ on the Specialized line I was looking at.. I asked a simple question on what wer the basic differences between the levels, and he stated I should go home and do some homework. THEN, he showed me the touring around town bikes, although i had told him I already have a different bike for errands and that is not what I was looking to replace at this time. Really felt like he did not listen, despite multiple times being told I had several bikes, I was looking to upgrade/change out my current island road bike. He even spoke to the ‘$ 500 mistake vs. the $ 1000 mistake’ in reference to getting a bike and leaving in the garage. I have done centuries and bike a lot. I will never go back to Edgartown Bikes and waste time with someone who clearly does not listen to their customer and does not know enough about their products to talk about the differences(vs. telling the customer to go home and do some homewor

We were taking a week’s vacation on MV, and were looking to rent bikes. Of the three places we checked out, this was our clear favorite. First, there was easy parking there in the middle of the day(unlike the place in the center of town). Second, they were total pros. Since they are a bike store and not just a rental place, they clearly care about your biking experience. Another place nearby was willing to let us go out the door with cracked and damaged helmets – yikes. But not Edgartowm Bicycles. They told us they destroy all cracked or damaged helmets right away. Third, even though it was busy and they had a limited selection of bikes(because most of them had been rented), they were friendly and helpful, and took all the time with us we needed. Bravo!
