The food overall was very good. Asparagus soup was an exception: very hot, thin, and hardly any taste. Duck special was very tasty and presentation good. Surf and turf(lobster and flat iron steak) was super tasty, but delivered on a tiny plate leaving no room to maneuver. Glad I don’t have to wash the table cloth! Wine list is good. Dining room: we opted to sit outside in the«heated» tent. Quite lovely except all but one of the patio heaters were out of propane. Are you kidding me? One out of maybe 7 or 8 was working. There is no excuse for running out of propane! Some people had to move inside, we managed to get close enough to the heater to be able to enjoy dinner. Summary: great food and wine in a quiet and elegant environment.

It was our first night and dinner at Martha’s Vineyard, and L’etoile did not disappoint. We were blown away by the Etuvee ½# Lobster dish. It was the best lobster I have had in my whole life! The environment and atmosphere was just right for a quiet romantic dinner with my love. It was just an absolutely amazing experience.

We had such a fantastic meal here, and it wasn’t our plan for dinner, after discovering Atria and Port hunter were closed, this was our next stop, and what a great stop it was. Our meal and service was top notch. Watermelon and feta salad– big portion for a higher class joint, excellent feta, creamy and salty, with fresh watermelon. Foie– the chef was willing to do a half foie gras portion for me, being my first time trying it…(I wish I got the full portion) buttery, duck fatty, deliciousness. Please try this. Local tile fish special– excellent fish, buttery, large portion, beautiful presentation, along with basil pearls(extra fancy) Rack of lamb– perfectly cooked, seasoned and presented along with wild mushrooms and homemade gnocchi. We will be back! So good! Great espresso too.

We went here for a special family dinner and the experience was superb. The setting is lovely — we didn’t get to sit outside but the inside was classy. Service was attentive and careful. Many places on the Vineyard are chronically understaffed so service and be an issue at many spots but we had no problems here. I was especially appreciative of the way the staff took care of my cousin, who is dairy-free. Not an easy task at a french restaurant! Most importantly, the food. It was well-presented, fresh, expertly prepared. We especially loved the foie gras, oysters, and etuvee lobster. Drinks and dessert were also on point. Excellent choice for fine-dining on the Vineyard, and I think their bar is a good low-key and lower price alternative if you’re solo or just two people.

Had dinner at the bar with my wife two evenings in a row. Great lamb chops and spinach salad. Kelly made a great margarita.

This restaurant had a lot of highs and low. They present themselves as a Fine Dining establishment, but this Manhattanite would beg to differ. The eating space is lovely. You sit inside a beautiful tent with small lights all around. Trees and flowers everywhere. The wait staff and host are lovely. You feel like you are in a super classy environment, but the classiness stops here. We ordered the tasting menu and asked for the dessert to be changed. They server said it wasn’t a problem. We could order whatever we want. Great! The tasting menu consisted of: Asparagus soup Foie Gras Raw salmon, sea bass and tuna Lobster pappardelle — exceptionally good Rack of Lamb Strawberry Rhubarb shortcake All the courses were very good. Here is the classlessness: The chef told the waitress to split 1 dessert for the 2 of us. So it was exceptionally small. For $ 300(yes this meal was $ 300) he could have given us 2 desserts. We got the impression that the server also felt this was a low class move and because she gave us a plate of cookies along with our dessert. But wait, there’s more!!! If a woman wants to use the restroom, they are directed to the B&B. If a man wants to use the restroom, they are directed to a porta potty behind the tent. Yes, a porta potty. $ 300 meal, beautiful environment, go use a porta potty in the back of the tent if you need to use the bathroom. That is an immediate loss of a star. I would not recommend or come back.

We had the raw Oysters and Cheese plate. Both were fine. The oysters have a Mignonette sauce on them(two kinds — Berry and Garlic/plain). They appeared freshly opened and were quite good. The cheese plate was also nice. We ate at the bar and the bartender was a little distant and hard to get when you needed a refill but she could have had an off day. My impression was that this was a very nice place with highly professional kitchen and staff. If you have the chance to sit in one of the large chairs on the lawn it’s worth it to spend some time watching people go by. They are very comfortable and people on the street are great to interact with or observe. It’s a cute place with dining under a tent and inside dining room. Tiny bar was fine but loud. I would definitely go back and try the full menu.

Only came in for a cocktail and bar bite. It had a different appeal to me this time from only a few months ago. Looked like they had a very busy evening. Drinks were good, not wow! Bar bites were very good. I got the lobster bar bite dish. It was well presented and tasty. I gave 3 stars because of the lack in consistency with the serving staff and overall atmosphere. I will visit again with better hopes.

My husband and I enjoyed a FANTASTIC Anniversary meal here! We shared the foie gras appetizer –which may just be the best thing either of us has ever eaten. The main courses(halibut and duck) were fabulous. And we shared an amazing dessert of fresh strawberries(from Morning Glory Farm) in a pistachio crisp shell with a champagne cream sauce. The staff were very kind and attentive. Wonderful experience!

This was a bit of a disappointment as far as fine dining goes. The service was incredibly slow due to a rehearsal dinner happening. They did apologize and comped us a drink. The asparagus soup was bland. Halibut was delicious. Hubbie started with short ribs and they were delectable. He had their surf and turf dinner he rated it 3 out of 5. Early in season so maybe they’re working out the kinks.

Do you remember the scene in the airport with Greg(Ben Stiller) from«Meet the Parents»? The attendant makes him wait to board for row 9 because they are only boarding through row 8. The entire area is empty and after waiting for a minute or so, she lets him board. That was our experience getting past the hostess at this restaurant. We were about five minutes early, had a reservation, and it was the week in June before it gets too busy with tourists. There was no one waiting, only two people in the bar area, and on the phone she stated that they had many open reservations for the evening. We walked right over, gave our name, and she asked us to have a seat and wait until our reservation time. «Sir, if you made a reservation then we will honor that reservation. 7:30 is 7:30 and it is not 7:30.» So, we politely sat down and waited — she then pretended to read a menu for five minutes and then took us to our table. There was ONE other couple in the space. The service was ok, but not great. They seemed annoyed that we were there. The food was very good, but also not great. We thought the lackluster feelings we had might be due to the way we were treated so we went back at the end of the summer when we visited. This time, the hostess seemed hostile. She was not happy and we wondered if she remembered us, but we made certain that we arrived on time, walked quietly in single file to be seated and said please and thank you many times. For the price we thought it should have been a better experience.

Comment magnifique? C’était si bon ! Our experience was spectacular from making our reservation with the morning hostess to arriving to every bite of dessert. There were three in our party and we chose to order the Prix Fixe Chef’s Tasting Menu with Red and White half bottle wine pairings and the Springtime in Paris cocktail. Our server was attentive and sure to review each course as it was delivered. The wine stewardess was helpful and spot on with her suggestions. Although we didn’t care for the texture of the West Tisbury Rabbit, every bite of the meal was heavenly. We were satisfied by all 7 courses, yet weren’t overly full. I can’t wait to return!

Butter poached, incredibly tender lobster on a house made, grilled brioche hot dog roll! What more is there to say? Absolutely the best lobster roll on the planet. Rich the bartender could not be more attentive and fun. Perfect experience, perfect food!

Seriously good — and one of the best dining experiences you can have in Edgartown. The play of favors in each dining course was a delight. The flash-seared Norwegian salmon fillet(served with crayfish coulis on bacon-whipped potatoes) is probably the best salmon dish I’ve had the pleasure of eating. Service was attentive, but unobtrusive. Great cocktails. Nice wine list. Definitely Worth a splurge for a special night out!

L’etoile was the rainbow on my rainy day, almost literally. There’s probably nothing better than eating well when the weather is less than perfect on MV. Located at close proximity to Edgartown center, L’etoile is inside one of the island boutique inns. On a nice day, you will find people dining outside under the tent. If you come on a rainy day like I did, you will make your way inside. A hostess will bring you into the dining room: white linen tables, candlelights, with artworks all around. A simple touch of romance. Drinks: I loves the bubbly«summertime in Paris» Appetizers: The rabbit loin is tender and delicious. The octopus is a bit too overcooked for me, the chewy texture gone. Entrees: The halibut fillet was very good. The sauce, the fish, the vegetable pairing. But what was better was the duck entrée. The duck was bursting with flavor, crispy skin and tender meat! Comes with a shrimp fried ravioli. The duck really sealed the meal for me.

In MV in Beautiful Edgartown. Great upscale nouvelle. Top three to five on the island. Dress nice, you’re amongst old money. During busy season, leave your car in your driveway or get someone to drop you there. You’re not parking close — unless your very lucky.

Went here based on previous Unilocal reviews. Food is very good, but the selection is fairly limited to be honest. We had the oysters and Cerviche to start. Oysters were good but as the French do, they put their own sauce on the oysters vs. having the standard cocktail & horseradish. I guess it depends on how you like your oysters :-) Cerviche was different than most, but was tasty — Ours was sea scallops Cerviche. You won’t get a bowl of Cerviche as typically expected — we got slices of sea scallops — Different. Then we had the Duck(outstanding) and the surf and turf — you cannot go wrong with either of these dishes… Both were excellent… Dessert we had the Crème Brûlée — my wife is the dessert person and said it was the best she had every had !!! I think a little pricey overall, but the food is great, the service excellent, and we sat outside, which was very nice and romantic(if you are into that)… Enjoy :-)

If you are looking for fine dining on Martha’s Vineyard, it doesn’t get any finer than L’etoile. Owner/Chef Michael Brisson’s dishes are second to none. The restaurant’s décor is chic yet comfortable making it the perfect vineyard date spot or fab night out with friends. Their Foie Gras is the«Best Bite on Earth.» Trust me … order this! My wife and I often do a double order. One is just not enough.
