Very dog friendly — the hounds were allowed every where except the historic house(which wasn’t open anyway when we were there.) The Visitor Center even had treats for the hounds AND brought a water bowl out for us. Unfortunately, the hounds were pretty tired from the prior days’ walks so we couldn’t your much of the 10 acres. The little bit that we did walk was well kept and peaceful.

Although this place is a venue for special events, the historic aspect of the property and its exhibits hold much more importance than just a nice spot for a wedding. It’s amazing that this 23 acre property has survived and that such effort has been put forth to restore and preserve its history. As you drive to the attraction, you would never guess that you will be arriving at a place that actually was a bustling tobacco town in the 1700’s complete with ferry and cargo docks. Now it just sits at the end of a peninsula that is primarily a neighborhood packed with moderate sized homes. Besides the museum, which gives you a great introduction to the town complete with artifacts, photos, transcripts and drawings, there are reproductions of log structures, gardens, paths along the South River, and the stately brick William Brown house. It really gives you a wonderful look at life on the Chesapeake, and the beautiful old trees and well kept grounds, are a pleasure to explore. It is off the beaten path for many, but I think it’s worth a visit, especially if you are interested in the history of this region. It still is an active archeological site, where they continue to find treasures from London Town’s past.

This was a great venue for a 50 – 100 person waterfront wedding. The gardens were beautiful for my early spring(March 30th) wedding. We were blessed by a bald eagle that watched the entire ceremony through the windows of the Pavilion! You can’t plan that but it is a possibility at London Town! The event manager, Jean Shea, is very helpful and is knowledgeable about the best way to set things up. She went above and beyond by following up with my vendors before the wedding to make sure they knew what was expected. I just wanted to comment on A W.‘s review from Sept 2011. This wedding guest mistook Jean’s adamant request for the bar to close at 11PM as rude. What she did not know is that London Town has to comply with a noise ordinance in order to use it as a wedding venue. I assume the bride signed the same contract I did which said the wedding would conclude no later than 11PM. Since I had a brunch wedding we did not have any issue complying. We were done by 4PM. I imagine that Jean was under considerable pressure to quiet the late evening wedding that A W. attended. They do not want to loose the ability to host weddings at London Town.

Attended a beautiful wedding here and the venue was great. However, Mary and some the other staff here were rather unprofessional, rude and uncooperative to even the most minor requests. If you’re not a people person you should not be the event coordinator at a place that hosts weddings.

Unlike the previous reviewer, our wedding party had an amazing time. Things were well coordinated, the staff was friendly and the food was delicious. If the weather was something we could review I would totally give a negative rating, but despite the rain and temperature, things went off with a hitch. The location is beautiful, and how can you compete with the view?! I definitely would recommend this place.

I attended a wedding at this facility in early September. The landscaping was beautiful and the venue itself pretty decent for a wedding. I’m sure the bride will love her photos. What wasn’t so great was JEAN, the property manager for that day! To be fair, the mother of the bride was a BEAST… she would literally ask people«And you are???» After they would say their name and relation, Barbara, the groom’s aunt” her response was«oh…okay…well I’m the mother of the bride.»(tacky) So I’m sure that woman wore Jean out but by the end of the night, Jean just wasn’t professional enough to hold it together. To cut to the chase, the party was still going strong and we had an open bar. At around 11 o’clock, people were still at the bar drinking. Next thing we know, Jean is yelling at all the guest that the bar is closed… Surprise to us. We didn’t hear a last call. She starts to shut everything down bringing the party to a screeching stop. She left for a bit and the bartenders started to clean up. I saw a few guests swipe beers from the bar as they were emptying the coolers. But when Jean came out she had an outright BITCHFIT with the bartenders and yelled at the guests to back away from the bar. It was so crazy how she was literally yelling and causing a scene at someone’s wedding who paid to use the venue! So for all you brides, beware… your guests too could soon fall victim to Jean and her temper!
