I sent my son in here for a haircut. This was not a very delightful service he got. The one who did his hair barely said a word to him. I could tell by looking at her face that she did not want to be there. During the haircut, I overheard other employees saying a lot of racist comments against people of color. Being biracial myself, I was disturbed by what I heard. The most disturbing of them was when they said that they despise having people of color anywhere near the store. While they were being said, the one who was doing my son’s hair smirked in response. I felt this whole thing brought back the Civil Rights Movement by about 50 years. I tried contacting the manager and corporate, but I got no response. This was not a delightful service that would make me want to come back.

Last year, I got my haircut by Brandi. She did a terrific job. This review is not about Brandi. This is about the manager. This incident happened earlier this year. The manager checked me in. When she did, she was snotty, and she reeked like cigarettes. I felt highly uncomfortable being around her, considering the combination of her bad attitude and the smell. As I was waiting in the lobby, I saw her yelling at one of the other employees about some issues with work stations. The employee was obviously embarrassed, understandably so. The manager did this in front of the lobby. The experience was so bad that I walked out of there.

Don’t trust this place with your hair! Worst experience at Edina Fantastic Sams. Inexperienced stylist gave poor haircut, cut off 3 more inches than I wanted, and left visible gray patches from poorly done hair color root treatment. Bait and switch when it came time for blowdrying hair after haircut. All ads and price list state«free shampoo and blowdry with every haircut,» however, after stylist started blowdrying my hair she told me that it would cost $ 15 more if she used a brush on my hair. Totally outrageous! Extremely rude manager refused to take any responsibility for poor services, and threatened me if I attempted to call there again(I wanted to talk to owner). Sad thing is that this isn’t like buying an item of clothing where you can return it if it doesn’t fit for a refund. I can’t return hair– I have to live with their mistakes, which effects self image. At the very least I should have received a refund, but instead got«too bad for you, nothing we will do» attitude from manager and owner. Reported to corporate and BBB, awaiting response. BEWARE!

Avoid this place! Ok, so it was really my fault. Or at least part of it. I saw a Crowd Cut for a partial foil and haircut for $ 37. I normally go to a nice place for my hair, and don’t do any coloring at all, but I thought, hey, it’s only a partial foil and my hair has the winter blah color, maybe I ought to give it a go for that price? Now, my hair is naturally light blonde. But I just wanted something little to brighten it up a bit for winter, when it gets darker. I explained this to the person, and what I got when I looked in the mirror at home was lighter, but with big splotches of blonde in some places. NOT natural at all! The worst though was the haircut. OK, so I really should have gone to my regular place. But my bangs were grown out, and I just wanted them trimmed, and any split ends cut off. Not rocket science, right? Or so I thought. I had to explain to the stylist 3x how to cut my bangs and how they usually look… wouldn’t you think someone who said they have been cutting hair for 22 years be able to see what has grown out and just trim them? But nope, it took 3 explainations to tell her that my bands are long and side swept. And what I got was butchered bangs that end at my eyebrow and are choppy. They are horrifying, and I can only hope that I can savage them myself, or else I’ll be pinning them back until the grow out! So, lesson learned. Don’t be tempted by a great deal thinking that anyone can throw 10 – 12 foils in your hair and cut your bangs. NOT true!

This happened in 2010, so I don’t really know what the place is like these days but I had to write about my experience there. I don’t usually give a bad review, I like to see the positives in most everything, and I try to give most places a fair chance… but this place was just appalling. My sister-in-law had booked a month ahead for her bridesmaids/entourage to have their hair done at a certain time in. We got to the place, and the hairdressers didn’t even ask us what we were there for seeing as we were quite a large group. They just kept talking to each other while finishing up with a couple of other customers. By the time they got to us, they still kept yakking loudly about unprofessional things,(how much one of them drinks etc.) dawdling, even WITHPOLITEREMINDERS that the shoot was going to be in half an hour. «I’m sorry, we’re doing the best we can, we can’t really rush these things.» Jesus Crisps, I didn’t ask them to rush, I just wanted them to concentrate on what they were doing to get the job done! They just continued to talk to each other! We were almost late to the entourage photoshoot, their handiwork was not impressive, and a couple of bridesmaid’s hairdos didn’t get done. The place was completely unprofessional and the staff needed some attitude adjustment.

Yes, I’m a fan. Because that 30-second head massage and the water with orange slices that I get at Juut doesn’t justify the $ 85 fee to get my hair trimmed … and kids don’t need $ 30 hair cuts! The stylists here are nice and very good with kids. They participate in locks of love, they give you a free shampoo with your haircut, and they listen to what their customers want. I would give them 5 stars if they started offering cool hair coloring, not just the boring highlights.
