Primo Pizza & Grill

Worst place ever. Never order online if you expect your food order to be processed and delivered. I ordered online, waited over an hour and the food never came. I called to find out what happened and they told me my order went to the other location, the focus was never made but they could make it now and deliver it in an hour. Which means I wound wait 2 hours for food to be delivered. I will never order from this place again.

Really? How do I explain why I give this place one star. The quality of the food is good. Right about now that’s all I can say was good. Took over an hour and 30 minutes to deliver. After an hour I called and was told they were finishing up the order and it would be leaving soon. It doesn’t take this long to make it myself. Then the disaster that showed up even the delivery guy didn’t want to deliver it and wanted to take it back. Sorry but I don’t want to wait another 2 hours to get food that a wouldn’t have something foreign in it. How hard is it to package food so it won’t open up and get over everything else. If a nascar driver was delivering it I could understand and respect that. Forgot to include things like utensils and how about all the drinks oh and let’s not forget the salad dressing. Like seriously. Hey your act together.

Super disappointed after ordering delivery. The pizza came cold, looking like days old, shelf-​sitting, and dried out. The delivery guy was embarrassed after we showed him. Don’t waste your time waiting for such crappy pizza. Absolute fail. Definitely order from somewhere else.

This was by far the nastiest pizza I ever had! I ordered the 5 cheese specialty pizza, and it was beyond horrible. They used the cheap already sliced cheese that comes already packaged. They must of put a teaspoon of sauce because you couldn’t even taste it. The cheese wasn’t even melted. It was just horrible. Never Again! First and last time I will be ordering from this place.

I am giving this place two stars based on the service. The pizza is actually rather tasty but I would recommend picking it up. I ordered one large pizza for delivery and it took over an hour to get to me. By the time it showed up it was cold. I called while waiting for the delivery and the girl over the phone had a huge attitude!

Overpriced sub-​par food. The chicken scampi will give you the runs, the chicken marsala is… not chicken marsala but instead something resembling baby food and cafeteria slop. Service ranges from okay to eh. Only redeeming quality was the amusing stoned delivery driver.

We live just a few hundred feet from Primo. Overall the pizza is not too bad. However close to an hour to deliver a large plain pie every time? Guess they take the long route…(through Rome?)

If i was writing this a year ago i would have given 5 stars… My husband and I have been ordering from here since we’ve moved to Edison. This used to be our favorite place, but recently we’ve noticed a difference. No more jalepeno poppers (which were out of this world when they had them), and for some reason the pizzas have changed for the worst. The vodka pie is all different and we just got the grandma pie and it too fell short… Disappointing to say the least. BRING BACK THE OLD MENU AND RECIPES!!!

Ordered the vodka margarita pizza, got some grandma/​margarita hybrid. The wings are small and breaded, but the sauce was good. With so many good pizza places in town, this place should’t be around too long.

FANTASTIC! This is not the old place that was there for only a couple of months. This is under new people who really know how to cook! Panini’s are great as well as the pizza and ham and cheese sub we had. Try it, you will not be disappointed!

I had the buffalo chicken pizza and the plain.
The buffalo chicken was disgusting. The chicken tasted old and I’m probably lucky I didn’t get sick eating it.
The plain was mediocre at best. It was «just pizza» not even up to par from what you’d expect from a standard hole in the wall pizzeria.
The cashier told me that my order came with a free drink which I didn’t want but gave it to me anyway (the lunch special is any 2 slices and a drink for $ 6). Later I asked how much my plain slice was and how much my buffalo one was and I was told $ 2 and $ 3… So they charged me an extra dollar and forced a drink on me!
They clearly need to scam extra money from their customers because without it they would go under, since they can’t make money peddling their shitty product. I will not be going to this place again, it’s a shame too because it’s 2 minutes away from my job.
One of the people I was with tried the buffalo slice too and she couldn’t even swallow it because it was so disgusting, I guess I was just hungry.
She said her tuna wrap was also sub-​par.
If I could give a zero star rating, I would.

This is the newest «Original Primo» location. It’s been open just a few weeks. We’ve been mostly happy customers at the Woodbridge location, and the new Edison location is even closer to our home, so we decided to check the new place out. Been there twice. Unlike the Woodbridge location, which is very noticeable on a busy highway, this Edison location is easy to miss if you are not paying attention. It’s in a more remote location.
Though small in appearance on the outside, the interior seems a bit larger at this location and is more aesthetically appealing for dining in. Clean. Nice size TV to watch the game. As is the case in many Italian places where the workers are spending a lot of time by the oven, do yourself a favor and bring a sweater to any «Original Primo» if dining in.
The owner, Primo, takes pride in his restaurant’s food and service. So much so that he told us TWICE to not microwave the pizza when reheating the leftovers! «Don’t ruin my pizza!» He will often check on you to see how everything turned out. Good businessman.
Here’s what we’ve had as far as the dinners. Chicken Cacciatore, Chicken Marsala, Chicken Fra Diavolo, Eggplant Parmigiana. All wonderful and plentiful. You leave satisfied, as you also get a nice portion of pasta and Italian bread with the meal. As far as pizza, we’ve had the plain, the barbecue chicken, and the tomato and broccoli. All very good. With a sizable menu, we plan to sample many other items down the road.
If you are torn between which «Original Primo» location to dine at because of similar distances, note that this Edison location has an earlier closing time than Woodbridge. Also, since Primo himself is currently managing this location, expect the best. For example, the Italian bread has always arrived to the table hot at this location
For quality Italian food and pizza at a nice price, «Original Primo» is always a great choice. Nice bonus! If you are lucky enough to be dining when the owner’s 3 year old daughter is in getting spaghetti all over her face, start singing «Sweet Caroline» with her and get a free garlic knot!

I didn’t have the pizza so I can’t comment on that, but i have to say that after ordering two whole subs at 10 bucks a pop I’m less than impressed. I’ve never ordered a sub or made a sandwich for myself where I’d only put one slice of meat and one slice of cheese on it. The bread was mediocre and couldn’t even be saved by that. There are many other places to get a good sandwich and I will not be going to this place for a sub again. I feel like I need to go back and ask for the rest of the sandwich I paid for.

Being from Jersey, I’ve got my pizza places that I always go to. You’re not from Jersey if you don’t. This place just opened across the street from where I live and I feel like the universe has giving me the most AMAZING blessing EVER!!! Nice thin crispy crust on the pizza, the way it SHOULD be! Ingredients SO FRESH! I haven’t tried the rest of the food on this VERY extensive menu but these two pies we got have left my appetite wanting MORE!!! I can’t WAIT to explore the rest of their menu and indulge in what I’m sure will be ECSTASY upon my taste buds!!! This place is a MUST!!!

Much better than the pizza place that was previously here. Thin crust with flavor. Nothing amazing, but better than most in the area. Didn’t do toppings on my pizza but while there I could see they aren’t stingy with the ingredients. Place was clean and service was friendly. Service was a lil slow, but I could tell there were people there being trained.
