From the moment I walked in I felt comfortable. This was my first«float» and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the employees were outstanding. There was another person who was going to float for their first time and you could tell that they were nervous. The employees did a fantastic job explaining what to expect and what to do if you got nervous. The rooms were very clean and I thought they were well accommodated with towels and robes and different products for showering. The explanation of the pod and how to float was in-depth and I had no questions after the tour. I chose to close the lid, not play any music, and turn off the light. It was great! You float without any effort and I could feel my breathing and heart rate slow. I was extremely relaxed and even fell asleep while floating. I woke up when my hour was up and felt refreshed the rest of the day. I’ll be going back and will take my wife with me.

Such an amazing experience. The staff is so nice and puts you at ease. The rooms are really relaxing and clean. You have a private room which includes everything you need for your float. You shower before your float, the shower is in the private room With the pod. Once in the pod, you can do fully sensory deprivation, or play music and keep the light on. I’m glad I chose to have the full experience even though I’m pretty claustrophobic and uncomfortable in complete darkness. I was super relaxed and at ease. The time goes by so fast, I thought I had been in for 20 Minutes after my hour of floating. Make sure if your skin is dry, try and hydrate it earlier in the day because it will sting at first, since the water is incredibly salty. Read the prep email, it’ll give you all the tips on how to have the best float. I will for sure go back!

I ran across this place completely by accident while getting coffee and decided to give it a try. What a cool place! It is well kept, the staff was friendly and helpful, and I left feeling very relaxed. The saltwater pods are spacious and chic. I tried out sensory deprivation for the first time and felt like time flew by. Hardly knew I was in there for an hour. Thanks for the calming time!

I loved it here. It was so relaxing and an interesting experience. I wish the water was a little warmer though. Otherwise, it was perfect.

I had a great experience my first time floating! The staff was awesome and explained everything thoroughly. The facilities also seemed very well thought-out. I was impressed that they had everything I needed, like makeup wipes and a hair dryer for afterwards. I liked being able to listen to my own music at first and stop it when I wanted full sensory deprivation. I was afraid this would be overwhelming since I have a hard time relaxing, but I enjoyed it and left feeling very relaxed.

FloatOKC is a great place to go if you have been thinking about trying sensory deprivation. The staff was very informative and the facility was clean. They also have a relaxation room for after your float. I thought I was more prepared for my first float than I ended up being. I watched a million YouTube videos, just to be sure I knew what I was getting into. If I could go back and change a few things, I wouldn’t listen to other people’s experiences beforehand and I would turn some music on. Through this experience, I found that I am not the kind of person who can turn thoughts off for an hour. Making it far less relaxing than I thought it would be. The one problem I did have was with the scheduling but overall the place was great!

I was somewhat prepared for my float through online research but until you experience it yourself you’re not really prepared. It was an amazingly relaxing experience and I would recommend it, and I will be going back. The place is very clean, and the employees were super friendly and walked me through everything since it was my first time. A few things — this is picky but I was not a fan of the scent of the shampoo and conditioner they provided, so I will wash my hair myself before next time, or not wear any hair products. Also, they provide ointment to cover any cuts or scratches(to prevent the salt from stinging) USEIT, I didn’t and I found out quick I had a few cuts, ha. Overall, super relaxing experience and at only $ 39 for your first float, it is totally worth it to just at least try it once.

What a cool idea! I am always looking for new ways to relax and I love trying new things! I jumped in a little too aggressively and went the total sensory deprecation route. It’s not for those with relaxation difficulties! The next time I try it I would listen to some music. The staff member was very knowledgable, helpful and polite! He made me very comfortable and gave great instruction. The place was very clean, however, while climbing into the pod, there was quite a bit of someone else’s hair stuck to both sides just above the water line. I do not like hair once it is disconnected from the body, so this grossed me out a little. Each pod has 900 pounds of salt in it so I talked myself into believing the water was clean and ok to get into. Like I said, the rest of the acity let very hygienic and clean. I only lasted about 40 minutes because I got bored, but I think I could get better with practice. I have a hard time being one with my thoughts in the silent dark. They have a great little relaxation room to use after your treatment where you can make some tea and write a fun message for others! Overall, it’s worth a try!

Nothing can really prepare you for totally sensory deprivation. Weightlessness, combined with pure darkness and and a silence so quiet you could hear a pin drop. It’s the most tranquil, relaxing hour I’ve ever spent in my life. As I’m laying there suspended in skin temperature water, I realize that I can no longer feel the water holding me up. The water, mixed with epsom salt,(so much in fact, it’s impossible not to float) became an extension of myself. I literally was suspended there in total repose. As I lay there sometimes with my eyes closed, other times open trying to see if I can see even a peep of light, it’s so silent that I can hear my heart beating. It was calming because it was the only thing that let me know I was still present. Then, it happened. After a series of deep breaths and counting backwards, my mind was clear. So clear in fact that I couldn’t tell if I had fallen asleep. But I had the moment where I came back to my senses and thought«whoa, how long have I been lying here?» My common sense told me I was still within my hour, but I was so relaxed that for all I knew the earth had ended and I was the last remaining survivor in my salt-water human time-capsule. I continued floating there in perfect tranquility for another undetermined amount of time(seriously, time was impossible to track in there) until the soft blue light gently woke me up and it was time to rinse off. For the unparalleled solitude– thank you, Float OKC.

I’ve seen sensory deprivation tanks before: online people have written about them, on Youtube there’s plenty of video about them, and I’ve always thought it would be an incredible experience, but one that would probably be hard to come by both because I had never seen a place with a tank and because I assumed if I found one, it would be prohibitively expensive. I was wrong. Going in, I didn’t really know what to expect. I had followed their instructions not to shave before because my skin might get irritated by the 900POUNDSOFSALTINTHETANK dissolved in 200 gallons of water. I didn’t wear make-up or lotions, and took a shower before getting into the tank. I had asked my friends on Facebook beforehand if I should go in with light or no light, music or no music, tank open or closed. I decided(and they suggested) I go all in, so I did. An hour in the dark with no sound and no stimulation of any kind. Here’s what happened: I showered and got into the tank. I shut the lid and sat back in the water. Like they warned me, when I first leaned back and started to float, I kind of bumped around in the tank because I had disturbed the water. At this point, I still had music and a light on.(They have an aux cord and provide ear plugs, make-up removal towels, regular towels, shampoo and conditioner and the shower is right in the room with the tank). When the filters/jets went off, I turned the light and the music off. I wore the provided ear plugs at their suggestion so 900POUNDSOFSALT would not crust up my ears. Good choice. At first, I kind of played around a little. I used breathing techniques I know from scuba diving to move my body up and down in the water. I tried different body positions. After about 10 minutes, though, I found a comfortable position, closed my eyes, and just let my mind wander. To answer the questions I would probably ask if someone was telling me about this experience: Yes, I thought it was super clean, ways cleaner than any other tanning bed/public pool/hot tub I will ever experience and no, it wasn’t scary at all. I get claustrophobic, and besides one brief moment where I was having a little trouble breathing through my nose(I was a little stuffy) I had absolutely no problems in the hour I was in the tank. It was tough to relax at first because my mind was on what I would write about the experience for my story, what I needed to do at work, etc. But I worked consciously to clear my mind of these thoughts. To focus on my breathing, and to see myself in a calming place. The owner of FloatOKC, Neal, told me many people have told him about the strange places their minds go when they’ve been in the pod. They’re not really hallucinations, so to speak, and they’re not drug induced, but when your mind is completely free from all the distractions it normally faces, it can go incredible places. The hour didn’t seem that long. At the end of the session the light turned back on, I let myself out of the pod and took a shower, and cleaned up. The bathroom had all the supplies a lady might need to make herself presentable to go back out into the real world(hair dryer, straighter and curling iron, brushes, hair product, etc.), and there’s even a little lounge with teas for you to enjoy after the float. If you’re in OKC, I would definitely recommend FloatOKC. They talked me through everything before and after, were genuinely concerned that I had a great experience and were genuinely very nice guys. The absolute relaxation, calm and mental cleansing are totally worth it.
