Very good veggie burger and sweet potato fries. The super meat burger was a favorite for my male counterpart. The onion rings are very good also. Service is quick and friendly. SWEETTEAWASAMAZING. Great spot for a quick lunch.

I did not enjoy this place. The menu had a very limited selection. Also, my husband and I thought the beef tasted bad, which is very unusual.

Mad cow hands down best burger in Edmond. Great staff and great location. You will not dissapointed. Give it a try if you have never been here.

The Cow Calf Hay is definitely one of the best burger joints in the Edmond area. Although it is a hidden gem on Broadway and 33rd, the burgers especially are very good. The atmosphere is very decorative and lively. Although the area is a little cramped, anyone would still love the decorations and homemade feel. The fries are just OK. They taste real and genuine yet aren’t as flavorful as other fries. The burger itself is very savory and well prepared, although some negatives are the bun being unusually moist and a little too much cheese. However I still enjoyed the burger to its fullest, would come back later.

A little out of the way but a must stop if you are making your way to some of the better burger places around Oklahoma. Some slightly crazy offerings here but some good olé fashioned burgers as well.

My favorite burger place in Edmond. Has the perfect hole-in-the-wall feeling, but with food that stands out. I highly recommend starting with the fried green beans, which have a nice kick to them, and then getting their famous«jucy lucy»!

We finally had a chance to have lunch here. The place is small but neat and clean. You can tell it is a mom n pop by the décor and the staff. We had burgers — A fried onion burger and a Mad Cow burger with Onion Rings and Sweet Potato fries. Everything was quick, tasty and hot. The rings were good but the sweet potatoes were meh. The burgers were good with lots of meat, cheese, and fixings but there were no veggies on either of the burgers. A few pickle slices, some lettuce, sliced onion, and maybe a tomato would have made all the difference in the world. We liked our meal, but would prefer that little extra zing of some veggies.

I love the burgers here. They are moderately priced and large in size. I really like the mad cow burger. The service here is above average for this style of eatery. They have 2 locations and I wish they would open another closer to my area. I recommend you try this place and bring your appetite with ya!

If you are on a diet, RUN… If you are wanting to enjoy a huge greasy burger that will put some shake on your backside then have a seat. Typically me and my partner will split a burger if we come here but its a definite winner for an occasional treat. Not something you will grab on a regular but its a place you must try. I am partial to hamburgers though ! YUM

I love this place just wish the dining area was bigger. There have been many times my husband and I have walked in and there’s not a table available. Other then that I’ve never had bad food here. The burgers are fantastic and their fries/onion rings are always perfect. The BBQ western burger is a must if you’re into the friend onion straws.

I have to say… this was a great burger… great tasting… fresh and the service was outstanding… I saw this on Discover Oklahoma and was in Edmond and had to pop by… it lived unto its reputation and I went while I wasn’t busy and had my burger and was out in 30 minutes top… highly recommended.

I haven’t been here in almost 5 years when I returned with a friend yesterday. Upon arrival, there were only two other cars so we glad it would be quick to order. I ordered the cuckoo chicken tenders and my friend ordered a turkey burger with French fries. The food came out fairly quickly and was perfect temperature. She enjoyed the burger having had it just 5 days before. Apparently, this is a pretty regular spot for her co-workers and herself. My chicken was delicious, but I did have to get more gravy. The fries were alright. Next time I’ll get a burger for a review of one of their signature dishes.

There are few questions I hear more often than, «Where’s the best burger in the city?» Those questions are, «Who are you?!» and«How did you get in here?!» and, occasionally, «Will you leave already?» But when I’m not breaking and entering, I’m burgering and eating, so I have a pretty decent handle on the metro’s best bovine patties. Nic’s Grill is amazing and worth the wait. The No Name Burger at Irma’s Burger Shack is a revelation. There’s a highly underrated burger at Chester’s Billiards & Grill and(I’ve heard) at Red Dog Café. But there is another burger ready to join the pantheon of greats. And it’s at the painfully named Cow Calf-Hay, 3409 Wynn Drive, in Edmond. The pun in the title is followed through inside the charming little restaurant, which gains its fashion sense from the City Bites chain, as there are framed pictures of cattle on the walls, a giant ceramic cow in two parts, ropes and the rest. This is a restaurant proud of its beef, and that’s pride well deserved. As a starter, it’s a difficult choice between fried pickles($ 4.29) and fried green beans(small order $ 4.99), one I was not willing to make. King Solomon himself would have trouble deciding between two deeply unhealthy, deeply delicious and deeply fried appetizers like these. The fried dill slices are lightly breaded and freshly fried with a zing of sourness in every bite. The green beans are coated in a spicy breading that will zap your taste buds to life. Could you forego a burger and just eat these? Certainly. Contenders Better, though, to press on into beefier territory and order the Classic Cow Cheeseburger for $ 9.99. Yes, these burgers are $ 10. Yes, they are worth $ 10. Also, you get fries, so quit your whining. My friend ordered his classic cheeseburger plain, and I respect that move. There’s a difference between a great burger and a burger with great toppings. This is a great burger: perfectly seasoned, cooked through and still juicy, because fat is a wonderful thing. To be clear, I think the best burgers are fully dressed; crisp lettuce, juicy tomato, sharp onion and a few pickle slices are all welcome to bed down on my burgers for a short, horrifying nap. But this simple stack of bun, beef and cheese was intoxicating. But what if you want to eat something ridiculous? That’s what the Mad Cow Burger($ 9.99) is for. It’s a burger covered in diced chicken, covered in two kinds of cheese, covered in grilled potatoes, covered in bacon, covered in homemade spicy ranch dressing. It’s a hot mess. Hot and fresh, though, that mess didn’t make much of an impact. It was good, but there was too much going on. Everything was cooked right, but it was too muddled to be more than a gimmick. Oddly enough, I did like another weird mix-‘em-up burger. The Maui Cowi($ 9.99) had bacon, pepper jack cheese and honey mustard and was topped with a teriyaki grilled pineapple ring. It was sweet, it was salty and it was unique. The best I’ve had, and definitely the closest to the classic cheeseburger, is the Juicy Lucy($ 7.99 for a double, $ 8.99 for a triple and $ 9.99 for a quadruple). This isn’t quite what I expected, as the Juicy Lucy usually has a hunk of cheese hidden inside a beef patty. Instead, these are thinner patties with lots of American cheese and a few dill pickles. Dang if that isn’t just about the tastiest thing I’ve eaten in a while — so simple, but absolutely perfect. There’s also The Ultimate Chicken Sandwich($ 9.99) with a freshly breaded and fried chicken breast, bacon, grilled fresh jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, cream cheese and jalapeño jelly. The only thing I wish this sandwich had was a little thinner chicken breast. It was a bit unwieldy through the middle, and I think a more uniformly sized breast would have helped. On the side, I think the french fries, which come standard, are dandy. But for a 50-cent upcharge, the onion rings are my favorite. And I’m not sure what the onion ring sauce is, but that needs to be jarred and sold to everybody. I know the question will never go away. Cheeseburgers are a nearly universally loved commodity, and one about which diners have passionate feelings. But if you’re looking to add another contender to the already-crowded Royal Rumble that is Oklahoma City’s burger scene, The Cow Calf-Hay might just be ready to win the belt.

Good burgers. If you want something weird, go to flatire or the garage. If you want a burger that’s a lot more normal, but made with a bit more care and quality, come here. Seriously. Come here. Have a burger. Touch the cow. Do it now.

Enjoyed this restaurant… don’t let looks fool you! The Western Burger is excellent! The onion rings are really good too! Neither the ambiance nor service are exceptional– and the food makes it all worth the visit.

This might be my favorite burger joint in all of OKC, if you’re looking for quality meat served at a fair price and great sides to go with it! Discovered this place due to a Groupon, but keep coming back for the food. They always have some sort of burger special, but will make any burger you like as long as they have the ingredients. My favorite side is their onion rings because they have a special ranch dipping sauce to go with it. Come to think of it, that sauce would go really well on a burger as well. Their ingredients are of the highest quality and they have signs everywhere letting you know they only serve certified angus beef. The service is always great and quick so no complaints there. Overall, a solid burger joint in a very crowded OKC market, but this one comes out on top!

This probably my favorite burger in Edmond. The staff is friendly, they get your food out quick, and they make a good burger. I’ve heard a ton of comparisons from people saying their burgers are a higher quality of whataburger… Which I guess is a fair frame of reference, but I don’t really see it all that much. So I usually go with the regular cheeseburger and an order of onion rings. The sauce that comes with the rings is top notch… Dunno what it is, but it’s awesome(on everything). The Good: 1) The burgers. I’ve tried a few different kinds, including some«specials,» and they’ve all be great. 2) The onion rings. The onion rings I would describe as good, but the sauce that they come with is over the top. No clue what it is though. 3) Quick. Man they can hammer out an order in a hurry. 4) Price. Around $ 11 a person. The Bad: 1) Small. The restaurant has limited seating. So it can be tough around the lunch hour. I’ve really never had anything short of at least a «good» experience here. Really a solid burger joint all around, and I definitely say it’s better than the downtown location.

Great burger place. Service was excellent. Plan to return when we in Edmond. Looks like they are part owner with City Bites. You can tell by the plastic drink cups.

Might have just had one of the top 2 to 3 burgers I have had in Oklahoma. And something the easily makes my top ten list on Best burgers I have ever had. I had the mad Cow and onion rings. Top notch rings, guessing they are better for here and not to go. Just a guess… might be wrong… on to the BURGER. The meat on this burger is amazingly flavored. Had no issues with the bun being too big or soggy, so perfect on the bun. Throw on chopped chicken, bacon and potatos. Wow just an amazing burger. Might be worth the drive across town to eat.(living south of okc) This burger is Awesome!

HUGE burger with Angus Beef. First time going today with some co-workers celebrating someone’s birthday. It was good. I had the Classic Burger, which was a nice portion and it came with a choice of fries or substitute them with sweet potato fries or onion rings. A few of my co-workers had what they called the Juicy Lucy, it looked good and you could choose to have double or triple meat. This place will leave you full. The staff was nice and I will be back to try again.
