This is my first visit to this establishment and I was meeting somebody here for lunch. Upon arriving, it was a little intimidating. People were sitting and you can see in the kitchen. I wasn’t sure to sit down and wait for a server, or order at the counter. I wasn’t properly greeted like you would see from a mom/pop restaurant. I figured out to order at the counter and then sit down. The lady who took my order was very short, not very friendly(no smile or small talk), and left a lot to be desired as far as customer service is concerned! After waiting for approximately 15 minutes, the pizza came out! It was hot and fresh as expected! Very nicely diced toppings and a crisp crust made for a delicious pizza! Some work on customer service and it would get 5 stars as a hidden gem! I will give it another try!

Very thin crust, which I don’t mind. All the ingredients were finely diced and the crust tasted like a piece of cardboard. If you are from New York or Chicago or anywhere that good pizza is served, just skip pizza when you’re in this town. I hate to say it, but Domino’s or a tombstone pizza from Walmart would’ve been a better choice

been eating here since i was a child(30+ years). along with neimerg’s and homewood grill, pizza man is a MUST stop, every time we’re in effingham. one of the best value restaurants i can think of. thin crust pizza is excellent and the salad bar is small but packed with good fresh stuff. I LOVEPIZZMAN(and, now, so do my kids)!!!

Our good friends bought us dinner from The Pizza Man tonight. They chose to carry out and bring it to our campsite at Camp Lakewood. The pizza was reminiscent of Chicago thin crust. The crust is markedly thin but definitely not like a dry cracker. Thin crust might not be for everyone but you cannot deny that this pizza approach allows for the toppings to get dangerously and deliciously close to the edge. We had the large(16 inch) pepperoni and sausage and a second large cheese pizza. Cheese pizza is cheese pizza-hard to screw up. This was good. Same goes for the pepperoni. The genius of this pizza lies with its sausage. This sausage looked like it was made from scratch and tasted that way as well. Excellent. We also had the garlic cheese bread. One order is a bit on the small side with one order feeding 2 – 3 adults. I’m going to try to describe this but it will not do it justice. Imagine the best made garlic bread with butter that generously melts into the nooks and crannies of the bread with precisely right amount of garlic. Now, picture that with a generous helping of mozzarella followed by a sprinkle of parsley. The bread wasn’t chewy, thick bread. It was relatively thin, which makes it a respectable vehicle for butter, garlic and cheese. I am only moderately ashamed to say I argued with and conned a precious five year old child for the last piece. Ok… I’m not ashamed at all. It was totally worth it. Besides, the five year old didn’t cry… much. This was absolutely a high quality carry out pizza. With this in your town, it’s hard to understand why you’d ever go someplace else.

Pizza Man is another one of those great values I love to find. They have a lunch special that includes a personal-sized pie(8″), a salad and a soda for $ 6.25 tax included. First they have a great crust that is really thin and crispy. Their sausage and Italian green peppers are the best toppings for the pizza, in my opinion. Secondly, this place is always crazy packed for lunch. The line is easily out the door and down the sidewalk. They get you through quickly and somehow know where you sit and bring your pizza very quickly. It’s always been a mystery to me how they keep track of who ordered what. The service is quick and the value is great, but the quality isn’t anything to write home about. Now, it’s good, but it’s just not«Oh man, this is so delicious» good. The sauce isn’t anything great. It’s not anything I believe they hand make every day, but pretty tasty for out of the can sort of stuff. Also, the sodas are served in styrofoam cups and the salads in the same old«wooden» bowls they have had for 20 years. Finally, the ambiance isn’t anything new. Same old tables and booths that have been there for at least 20 years also. One good thing, in my opinion, is the fact that there isn’t a t.v. in the place. Do we really need televisions everywhere we go? I don’t think so. If you want something that is quick, tasty and a great value stop in a try the place. You won’t be disappointed, but you probably won’t be thrilled.

I absolutely love this place. It is definately my favorite among all other places I have ever tried. Every time I go to visit my dad and sis in Effingham, I make it over to this place at least twice.

No service, styrofoam cups and package marinaria for dipping. Floors need a serious cleaning. Pizza was 2 out of 5 stars.

Best pizza and the best deal in town. I live in Miami and go there every time I’m in town to visit family.
