«The Food Just Doesn’t Taste Good and Makes us Sick« My wife and I used to go to Black Angus a lot but several months ago we stopped going because almost every time we would come home after we at there we would get sick. Upset stomach, gas, diarrhea and even throwing up. The Food just taste, frozen or not fresh. I have friends who say the same thing happened to them also. I’m not sure what’s going on there at the Black Angus, but I know we will never go back !

Food was good service was awesome. Reception was friendly, Rachel our server was on top of everything didn’t have to ask for anything and you could tell the team worked really well with one another. Even Manager Randy was very welcoming and aware of whats happening during his watch.

Had the $ 8.95 lunch with coupon. Prime rib sandwich, not bad. We had the Natcho appetizer during the very long wait for our meal, so by the time it came we were full of the natchos which are delicious. We had to ask for extra sour cream, as they dribbled it over the chips. I sometimes wonder if they scimp on the things ordered by the coupon users. The service was good, just think they are shirt on kitchen help.

I haven’t came in for quite some time, but I had a pretty hot date tonight and wanted to show her a good time. I brought her here and got the best service there can be. It started with us getting greeted by Jesse the manager, he recognized me and was super friendly and had us seated right away. Colin our server was on top of everything with recommendations with drinks and food and got them all out super quick. Ricardo was also very friendly and quick with clearing our empty plates and getting us that delicious bread. Bernie stopped by to check on us and made sure everything on our visit was perfect, which it was! Hands down great visit, service, and food! Can’t wait to come back!

There is a 30⁄70 chance they cant get my steak done right! I order it WELL done… and most of the time its PINK or so pink its not even medium well done. I usually leave only eating the bread and salad and starved because everyone else has had their meal. I dont want to wait for them to cook me another steak that would take forever to wait.

Love this place always great service and the cob veggie salad is yummy. Only giving 4 stars because parking is a pain cause it’s always crowded and there are not enough spaces.

I live in Ocean Beach and I drive all the way to this location for the best service and of course the prime rib! Stopped by last night and sat in the bar area and it has a great atmosphere. Sat in Jessica’s/Hobbs section and I introduced myself and all thru the evening she addressed me by my name. Most often, at other restaurants, they forget your name right off but, not Jessica! The Cesar salad was awesome as always and the bread as usual warm and fresh! The prime rib was a perfect medium rare! It was Man vs. Food and Man wins, as I devoured it all! I took my sister, who was visiting from Nor Cal, here in September and we met Jesse the manager and we told him how great the food and service was and he spent time chatting with us. He along with Jessica, and all the staff at this location always make you feel welcome:) Lastly, their seems like a great«vibe» at this location with all the employees looking happy to work there. This, I believe, starts from a positive, encouraging management staff and hiring positive, sincere and engaging wait/bus staff! From the greeting at the front door to leaving after a great meal and service always a sincere hello and goodbye! Will be back very soon!

My Thanksgiving dinner experience was a very unpleasant one! First, our waitress self proclaimed, that she is the best waitress in the restaurant .I was happy to hear that, I like capable people. But it didn’t take long too see this was inaccurate and she started to mess up our drink orders. We went with that, but when she brought a wedge salad for my boyfriend and it had ranch dressing poured all over it, and he specifically asked her to put it on the side. I mentioned it, and she started to argue with me. After that I was treated like her enemy! My boyfriend said to me «it’s ok ” I don’t want her to spit in my food, don’t say anything anymore. And I didn’t. But she was on the roll, while she was ignoring me, she was touching my boyfriend on his shoulder continuously, until even my son noticed. It was a dinner experience from hell. I Will tell everyone about this experience, and I do work with the public. I will expose a lot people to this arrogant behavior. Forgot her name, but if you get a lady with botox injected face and restylane filled lips, you get to meet my nightmare waitress!

I recently rediscovered Black Angus and I’m so glad I did. It’s now my «go to» place when I want a delicious steak dinner! It’s not just the great quality of the steak it’s also the bread and all the side choices that are all so good.(oh, and don’t get me started on the desserts!) The other part that makes the meal there special is the service. Everytime I go the friendly servers and staff make it a great experience. The other night our server Maria went above and beyond in taking good care of us. Randy, the General Manager always makes time to say hi and make sure we are well taken care of too. I’ve eaten at all the finest steakhouse in the San Diego area and for the quality, selection, service and price you can’t beat what I’ve experienced at Black Angus in El Cajon!

I don’t get to go to a steakhouse often(nor do I go and make a Unilocal review often). I signed up this year to the Prime Club for Black Angus, so when they sent me the birthday coupon, I decided to take my son and celebrate a little. I am a disabled, single mom, so it was a stretch for me. I made a reservation, they asked me if I’d like them to sing happy birthday when I called to reserve, and I said, sure, didn’t have a party yet, so why not? We got there and they seated us in good time. I had a very nice waiter who was so helpful and attentive and seemed to try to help us, even when management kept his hands tied at times. When it was time to order, I showed him my BOGO birthday coupon. My son, being a teenager, preferred to get two of the appetizers rather than a steak dinner. I asked if we could get those with the coupon,(they totaled $ 19 not counting tax), and he check and got approval. They actually didn’t even have to cover a full $ 21 as they would with a dinner, so they actually would have saved comping me the other $ 2 anyway). I ordered the ribeye, medium well for $ 25.99, with loaded baked potato and brussel sprouts. I had brussel sprouts for the first time last Thanksgiving, and my sister in law made them divine, with very few added ingredients, so I was excited to have them again. My son had root beer, and I had water. My son had his first appetizer while we waited, potato skins. They looked very lonely on the huge platter, no idea why they need such a big plate. They had very little toppings on them, so they were mostly potato. They top them with cheese, bacon, green onion and a side of sour cream. A little more toppings would have made them delicious, they probably had half or less the toppings you would get at a Denny’s — should have known that was a harbinger of things to come. Next, my dinner came, and his steak quesadilla. He began to complain because the quesadilla was skimpy, seemed to be stuffed with tomato, and not much of the other ingredients. My steak was about 1⁄3 fat, and drenched in oil, like swimming in oil, I felt like it needed to be wrung-out, and was not medium-well, there was no pink in it. It tasted alright, but not much protein there. I was hungry already, so I ate it, but it got cold as I tried to find the meat hiding among the generous portion of marbled fat. The baked potato was about the smallest baked potato I have ever seen in a restaurant, very sad. The worst was the brussel sprouts. They looked dry, brown, and a little scary. I bit into one and it was awful — dry, hard, and very bitter, tasted as bad as it looked. Someone does NOT know how to cook brussel sprouts. I suggest steaming them or baking them, but they looked like they’d had a quick grill and that’s it, not right. I told the waiter I could not eat them, so he offered more of them — NO thanks. I told him the green beans sounded better, and they were quite good. No one bothered to sing and I just let it go. Then he said they have a birthday dessert for me, a Cowboy cookie with ice cream. I cannot have wheat, or milk. It was the same price as all the other desserts, so of course I looked at the dessert menu. I told him I could not eat wheat flour/baked goods or cream, and I would love it if they could give me the flourless chocolate dessert, touted as «gluten free» right there on the dessert menu. Well, the manager absolutely REFUSED to budge on it, I HAD to have this cookie, like it or not. What? So, my son ate the cookie, and I watched, yayyy. I got the bill, and it was more than I anticipated, but I didn’t have the time to comprehend why, because I just wanted to get out of there already. My birthday dinner excitement had completely faded. I got home and looked again at the bill, and saw the problem. They had only given us $ 15 of the $ 21 coupon that should have covered the full $ 19 of my son’s food(which I was told would happen) and I was charged an extra $ 1 for the awful brussel sprouts. I had also tipped on the full amount, even though I was overcharged. I will never consider this restaurant a customer friendly place again, it seems all about penny pinching the customer. I told a friend of my experience and he said he would never go there again either, after his own previous experience. Sure, they can pack their little parking lot on a Friday/Saturday night, but that doesn’t mean they should be treating people like that. Maybe some people have a good time here and don’t run into problems, but I would not trust it again, myself. The parking is also awful — I had to park across the street and j-walk to get to the door, and I have handicapped parking. Totally kicking myself for not eating at Phils BBQ right now.

So ask my girl friend I decided to post this as our dinner goes. Our server, David(said he was here for 15yrs). Very polite, I had no intentions of having a margarita but… He’s a good salesmen… We also had no intentions of getting the sampler platter. But what can I say? He talks a good game. Normally with big chain restaurants I expect the same taste… Average… But this place, simply taste better. Loaded potato soup is always creamy and perfect. The bread is always fresh. Appetizers were alright, a bit greasy but what can u expect from a sampler? The zucchini tho!!! Perfect! The asparagus was crunchy and yummy… Same with the corn on the cob. My New York stake was ordered rare, and it came out perfectly cooked, juicy and bloody(how a stake is supposed to be). The cowboy cookie with ice cream always hits the spot. Why 4 starts and not 5? Because parking blows.

My Girlfriend and I decided to come in and spoil ourselves with a good meal. We had the Trio and it was spectacular! Our Waitress Deanna was amazing. She offered us the Strawberry Raspberry Lemonade and it was amazing. Toward the end of our meal the tables were getting a bit busy and she had a customer that was unnecessarily rude to her… She scolded her like a child and it was so uncalled for. She was doing the best she could at the time and she gave us amazing service. We did speak with a manager after and let Him know what had transpired and let him know that it was not her fault. There are some people that just fish for discounts but these two ladies were just horrible. You did a great job Deanna!

My mother and our dear friend Marcie love love love this place. They enjoy their experience so much each and every time they dine here. So when they asked me to tag along today for Happy Hour I said«sure, sounds fun» Today is Tuesday and on Tuesday they have their Happy Hour all day! We went right to the bar and sat. Our bartender Barbra is AMAZING! I give her 5 stars hands down. She has a great personality, she’s very attentive and the girl can make a mean Texas tea and Blackberry Mojito. We ordered appetizers they were not bad and the Happy Hour prices are an excellent value.

So I was craving potato skins and asked my husband to run into town and I called in the order, he wanted chicken strips. So when he returned(20+ later) the skin’s were greasy and undercooked with half ass toppings and I forgot how horrible the chicken strips are. Their chicken strips are boneless skinless with more of a panko breading and that makes them VERY crunchy(even the meat that should be tender) DISAPPOINTED!

Really disappointed in this place. First, tried to sit us as a party of 6 in a booth designed for 4. None of our steaks were prepared correctly — two were supposed to be well done and another should have been med well. They were all too raw. Worst part was orderungt a $ 13 chicken sandwich and getting something that looks like ut came from a dollar menu at a fast food joint. Service was ok. We came in for dinner on a Friday evening and there was lots of vacant tables but didn’t seem like there were enough staff. Safe to say we wont be back…
