I had a cheeseburger here while I waited for my tires to get changed on my motorcycle. When a resturant tries to serve multiple types of cusine it usually ends up not being exceptional at any of them. I can’t comment on the Mexican or Greek food but if the cheeseburger is representative of their american food it was average at best. Patty looked and tasted like it was a frozen one. The vegetables tasted like they had been prepped earlier in the week. The fries more than likely the frozen season fries variety you can pick up at your local grocery store. The bun also pretty uninspiring. The restaurant looked clean and the waiter was polite and prompt with service. The prices were reasonable. I am sure there are worse options in the El Cajon area but I would not make a special trip to specifically eat here. The fact is the main purpose of any business is to make money but if you own a restaurant and you don’t have a passion for the food you are serving it is pretty evident in the quality. The décor could be a little better. I don’t want to sound like one of those annoying atheist that gets offended at the slightest mention of a religious deity but when I eat in a restaurant I prefer for it not to feel like I am eating in the basement soup kitchen homeless shelter of a church.

I’ve been here 4 times for breakfast now and each meal has been great. I usually get a chicken fried steak and eggs. The steak tastes great and is not over done or chewy. The gravy has been great not runny or clumpy but good gravy. The portion is generous. The price is comparable to nearby restaurants. The omelette are large, the largest compared to the other local places. Good coffee and good service. If you like hot sauce with your food this place serves a hot and flavorful hot sauce. The pancakes are good too. Not thin tortilla pancakes and not big huge cakes, just right.

Best restaurant in El Cajon! It’s where Tyler’s was. Beer, wine, fantastic food. The music is streamed 50s and 60s. You can’t help but sing and jive! Check it out!

First time to try what used to be Tyler’s Texas café. Went for breakfast and was just okay, nothing special and not worth a second trip. Biscuits and gravy was bland and the biscuit was dry and not fresh. The two small sausage patties were thin and tastless. Partner had the charizo pan fry and it was nothing special. Over $ 20, not a bargain either.

Love this place. I love that the menu has a little bit of everything. The service is always great and the food is amazing. They extended their drink menu so I can even have a margarita now! They’re so good… I love the mimosas for breakfast. The owners are always there so they make sure that the service and the food are exceptional. They are so nice and friendly. My favorite place in El Cajon!

We have eaten in the restaurant and ordered delivery. The food is exactly what you would expect from a country kitchen, but Mexican style. Yummy!

This is the best diner I’ve been to in El Cajon. Cindy was a great waitress! Micky is the best waiter! She made us feel right at home. All the food was cooked to perfection! If you like eggs Benedict, you’ll love this place! Love the music(oldies) and the atmosphere. Look no further, this is the diner for you!

Great homemade style cooking, great pricing and large portions. I know that because I could not finish my plate. I recommend the chorizo omelet!

We had a luncheon here and some of the comments from attendees about the restaurant food and service were: Disaster Horrible Confusion Chaos Chicken dry Odd Seasonings Not what ordered Fake whipped topping Very slow service Overcharged Served burned ends of meat loaf Chicken mostly small bones, not half chicken Never got beverages

Our waitress Cindy was so nice and helpful. It’s really cool that they have a juice bar with acai bowls and smoothies there too.

I recently moved to El Cajon and was in search of a local eatery to become a local at. I thought it was weird that they had American, Greek and Mexican food but I love all of these foods so I thought«Hey, what the hell». I wound up going there a total of three times. The first time I ordered a greek vegetarian plate that consisted of very salty falafel, a disgusting excuse for spanikopita, and sour tzatziki sauce. The next day my stomach was upset but I didn’t blame the food yet. The next time I went back I ordered a chile relleno which I heard them use a microwave to prepare.(it was late and I was getting my food to go, I was the only one in there other than a couple who already had their food so I am making a good guess that this was my food they were nuking). Apparently, they didn’t nuke it long enough though because the cheese wasn’t even melted. For some stupid reason, I decided to try their food one more time because I was craving greek food and couldn’t find a local alternative so I ordered the greek vegetarian plate again, only to find that the falafel was still salty and the tzatziki sauce even more sour… within an hour I was violently puking my brains out. So, to sum up, this place uses rotten food and doesn’t even properly prepare it. Avoid this place at all costs. I am so glad that I finally found El Cajon Bistro which has freshly prepared healthy foods that never make me vomit!

It was my boyfriend and i’s first time eating here, it was a new place to try and I must say for a little hole in the wall restaurant it was amazing. The service was great as well as the food was very tasty! We will definitely be back, there was a great variety of options and oldies music playing that gave it an old diner feel. Very impressed.

Stopped in MJ’S Restraunt for the first time today for lunch and I was very impressed. The Food is absolutely delicious, the service is superb and the pricing was fair . I tried the Club Sandwich with Turkey, Ham, Cheese and Bacon with Fries. The sandwich was huge and very filling, and the fries were the best ive had anywhere. You would love it. Great variety in menu choices to choose from. This place is spotless clean. I say try this place the first chance you can and you will really like it. Highly reccommend to everyone.

MJ’s has taken over and remodeled the old Tyler’s Taste of Texas, and not offering Mexican, Greek, and American cuisine. I am always skeptical about places that take on so much, so I ordered the Gyros sandwich and the Lemon Chicken, to put their Greek on the proving grounds. The Gyros cost $ 8.45 and the soup $ 1.95. First the soup, and it was great. It was on the creamy side and came with tender rice and a modest amount of tender chicken( ). The chicken was fork tender and tasted very good. The soup was well balanced with the savory chicken flavor and nice lemon flavor that hit you at the end( ). Very good lemon chicken soup and I would order it again. The gyros sandwich came served on a terrific warm and toasting pita bread( ). I was please with this, because the last place served me one on a cold pita. The sandwich came piled with tender gyros meat. Some of the meat was even crispy which made for some great texture( ). to my surprise, the gyros sandwich did not come with feta cheese, a suggestion I made for them to begin to include, so my server Krystal brought me a small plate with 3 cubes, which I readily broke up into my sandwich( ). The Tzatziki sauce was great, tomatoes were freshly sliced, and onions crispy. All in all a very successful gyros sandwich and it certainly passed the test. My server Krystal was great. She was very attentive and wanted to make sure that I enjoyed my meal. The place is nice inside and newly remodeled( ), and I look forward in returning to try their breakfast. 4.5 stars… well done!
