My dad and I stopped in and had some drinks after we ran a few errands, our server was Lauren R., she had black hair and black rimmed glasses, we sat near the bar, as we were drinking she asked us from time to time if we wanted to order food, we said not right at the moment, from my observation she was getting frustrated, reason unknown, we continued talking and drinking, we decided to finish and go home, we asked for the check and when she came back with the check she slapped it on the table on top of a piece of paper I was reading and walked away in a hurry, visibly upset probably because we didn’t order food, who knows, I think it was uncalled for, I am in here quite a bit and I also visit the Mira Mesa store quite often as well, I do order dinner from time to time, today we just ordered drinks, long story short her attitude towards me was inadequate, I’ve worked in retail for 30 years and never treat people this way, no tip.

The food was amazing as it always is. Although the last time I went there kind of ruined it for me. Me and my Dad were seated in a booth and right as we were about to sit down around 5 kids(which we didn’t know) swarmed over and overtook it so we ended up moving to a table close by where the lady who seated up brought us chips and salsa. She further then left and our waitress didn’t come by our table for 20 minutes! We were sitting there with no more chips and salsa, no drinks, food, or anything!!! We didn’t even know who our waitress was. The longer it took the more aggravated we were. We watched people come in after us, get there chips and salsa, drink, and order there food and we got NOTHING. For such good food it really sucks having terrible servers.

This location was good on my first visit but my LAST visit was horrible. I ordered a table side guacamole and received some store bought, pre-made mix. Employee said they were out of the items needed to make the table side. Few minutes later another party was sat across from me who ordered the table side guacamole and all the sudden the server who was the same server for my table began making the guacamole. I order my food which was cold, dry and nasty. The highlight of my dinner at On the Border was the free chips. I won’t be coming back and advise you all to use caution patronizing this location.

Average food. Large portions. Friendly staff. Conveniently located near mall and movie theater. Tasty margaritas. Restaurant wasn’t too busy but it seemed understaffed. The waiters were spread very thin resulting in slow service.

my friends and i celebrated my birthday here last month, and i could not have been happier about the service, as usual. we had a table for about 30 on the patio and were served very enthusiastically by cassidy, delaney, vincent and area manager dave. additionally, louis and alicia were bartending which only added to the professionalism and generally fun atmosphere. good on ya guys. you are awesome! have been a regular here for 13(?) years now, since the grand opening, and i’ll be back.

I wish this place was a better experience. Seating by hostess is ridiculous. She made us(a table of two) wait 20 min despite 50% empty tables… Because she was waiting to seat the table of 10. And rather than having the wait staff(standing around) set the table while she set silverware, chips, etc. So frustrating. Food is so-so. Many better options. This is the 3rd time we’ve been there and each time is worse. Not going back.

Came here a little bit ago probably a month and had terrible service and food was just ok. Again come in this week to give another try again waiting for a while to even be acknowledged and again food was mediocre at best. Only reasons the three stars is because the food isn’t horrible and the drinks are very good.

Well, this is my second or third time here and so far, so good. I’m not high on Americanized Mexican restaurants in general — but I’ve become wiser about what to order. Once I had a steak salad that was pretty good, and today I had a Fajita Steak Border Bowl… it was quite tasty, love the mix of cilantro lime rice, beans, avocado, salsa, etc. My friend and I got to the restaurant about 5 minutes early. The doors were locked so we just sat outside. It was over 100 out but fortunately somewhat overcast. The host, Greg, saw us and came out to let us in early. Woohoo! Our server, Maria, was very pleasant, as well. As a bonus, the chips were good(thin and not greasy, and still warm) and I like that they gave my friend and me each our own little salsa dish, so no worries about double-dipping. Overall a really nice experience! Oh, and I had a $ 5 off coupon from the Entertainment book so that made it even better!

I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon while my wife was shopping at Macy’s. I wanted a beer and to watch a game while I was waiting for her. There was only one patron at the bar and I waited and waited for someone to take my order. I finally went to find someone and was made to feel like I was bothering him. Good news is I went next door to Applebee’s and was taken care of perfectly. Do your self a favor and avoid on the border at parkway plaza.

Everything was fine. Restrooms were clean, food was good. Just when I asked if my drink could be colder the waiter made a comment of saying«he couldn’t control the temperature of the drink» He couldn’t think of ice?

We really love this place. They have the best queso in town! Normally, I’m not a huge fan of chain restaurants but this is an exception. The grilled chicken is over-the-top delicious(juicy and flavorful). Great salads and traditional mexican fare but they have their own twist on things — a little southwest, a little modern, slightly elegant. The service is always friendly and fast, parking is easy and there is usually a busy vibe without being chaotic or too noisy.

The staff here is super friendly and will replace your empty drink before you realize you need it. Taco Tuesdays are the best if you’re looking for a quick bite. I absolutely love their grilled and beer battered fish tacos, especially with the spicy chile sauce they put on them. This is definitely one of my go to places for sit down Tex Mex in the area.

Pretty nice place! Went here with bae for lunch and everything was great! He loved his pulled pork tacos and the bordereto was just alright. It just didn’t have the Mexican spices I was looking for. Very American. Our waiter was on the slow side but it didn’t bother me hat much. It is a tex-mex place, and if you’re looking for authentic Mexican food this is not the best. It was still yummy, but idk if I’ll return.

I have been going to Happy Hour here a couple times a month for about the last 6 – 7 months. Tonight was the very first time the bartender(Alisha) got my order correct. I always order the WildBerry Margarita, no lime with a sugared rim. Usually it arrives with the lime. On occasion with a salt rim. Tonight my maggie was perfect! Alisha also placed napkins on the bar as soon as she made contact with me by asking what I would like to drink. This also was a first. I ALWAYS have to ask for napkins, and I find this very annoying. My Chips tonight were fresh & hot. Salsa also tasted fresh. Not all warm like it has been sitting around for hours waiting for someone to come along and eat it. Since it was Taco Tuesday, I also had Ground Beef & Pork Carnita Tacos. Both delicious and totally worth $ 2 each. While there, the Women’s World Cup was on and USA was playing Germany(a 2 – 0 win btw). Congrats to USA! Because the bar was noisy and everyone there was cheering for team USA, I asked Alisha if the closed captioning could be turned on the tv nearest to me since I was unable to hear. Reading what was being said next best thing. Alisha said she would ask and a nice employee by the name of Ryan immediately took care of this. THANKU Ryan! All in all, tonight was the best experience I have ever had here and would totally tell all my friends to check it out… but just make sure Alisha is your Bartender! She rocked!

Free parking available. Customer service was okay, not the best though. The food tasted good, but little bit pricy. I paid about $ 15 for a burrito.

A great spot for lunch or dinner. They often have great specials at an affordable price. I’ve always had a great experience with the employees here. The brisket tacos are amazing and my all time favorite dish!

First time there. Items are a big pricey, but we had a gift card, so we tried it out. The boyfriend had stacked empanadas, I believe? Were really tasty. It was the dish with a fried egg on it. I got the brisket tacos and they were amazing, along with the salsa they served with the never ending nachos. My only complaint would be that the ladies room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in days. It smelled okay, or more like a cinnamon scented air freshener was on at full blast, but there was toilet paper all over the floors and the soap dispenser was full, but all caked up like someone just kept filling the top(believable, since the top was still wide open).

The food was okay, service okay– not great. The area they wanted to sit us in was smoky and smelled like burnt food, they did accommodate us in the middle area(which was closed) — then after they sat us the area filled up. No refills available apparently. The table behind us found something fun in their food– oops! The cap to the trip, was the women’s room had no tissue and was a mess.

I stopped in On The Border a day after work to unwind and get some food because I was to tired to cook when I arrived at home. I had them make me their Mexican Chicken Caesar Salad for $ 10.99( ). The salad came with a complimentary basked of tortilla chips and house salsa.( The tortilla chips were very good, but the salsa was heavily laden with cumin, which pretty much made everything taste like cumin, so I had to back off on that.( ) I ate the rest of tortilla chips by themselves or with my salad. Ease back on the cumin… The salad was strangely served on a giant fried flour tortilla which was useless after it soaked up the Jalapeño Caesar dressing, that did not taste like jalapenos, and became a soggy mess.( ) I think cooperate needs to rethink this one. The dressing was average at best. It was lacking in flavor which made me lose interest rather quickly. The cotija cheese that was sprinkle over the salad was very bland and mute. It did not have that salty aggressiveness that good real Mexican cotija has. I had a raising suspicion that the chicken was precooked and then reheated and sliced for serving. First of all, it was warmer on the outside and cooler towards the middle. The meat was very uniformed and slightly rubbery, not to mention bland throughout.( ) It reminded me of those boneless cooked chicken breast by either Foster Farms or Tyson you can buy at Costco for a quick meal. I have had them, so I am aware of their characteristics. Please throw a fresh boneless breast on the grill and season it, drench it in tequila, sing mariachi music while you cook it! Another words, make it taste Mexican! Unfortunately, the tortillas chips were the best thing I ate during my visit, and I have certainly have had better. Furthermore, to be honest, many would argue that I am being generous with my 2 star review, but the chips were good. It is what it is…
