Steve is the bartender who makes the Blue Moon one of the best bars to go to in El Cerrito or surrounding areas Make it a point to stop in and say hi… Kind, respectful and not afraid to speak his mind when it comes to those damn 49ers! Good man, makes it a great bar… Plenty of TV’s, pool table, regulars that help form and create a nice and pleasant atmosphere… great priced drinks… KUDOS!!!

After a day on the marina working off my bread bowl I sure did get thirsty. I mean cmon it’s Wednesday. I can’t deal with all the homies heading home and I need a happy hour. And friends, this is the place! The bartender works here one day a week but she’ll smile so big and even hand you the chip rack. the tips go in her Heineken clog. Escape the dull moments and have some peanuts and a happy hour at the blue moon salloon.

–Beer is dirt cheap
–Bartender is alone and regulates when needed (gives it an Old West feel), but is very kind to good folk.
–Outdoor area with tables, for smokers as well as drinking.
–Pool tables
–Real live locals, with knowledge of the history of the town/area.
–Close to «Mel-O-Dee» lounge (I pub crawled back & forth)
–Chicks that actually talk to you…
–A real live Dive Bar, without the worry of loosing teeth

Extremely friendly bartender with great theme nights. $ 12 t-bone and beers on Thursdays. Industry night Monday’s. Speak Easy Saturday gets you prohibition prices on your second drink: this place rules! Pool, outdoor seating, snacks and tvs too!
This bar is working hard to keep people happy: they even have free pizza and snacks on Monday Night Football nights.

I always biked past thinking that it was kind of a divey old man bar. that’s a small aspect of it. The folks there are pretty diverse and it has a strong blue collar feel. $ 4 cocktails are always strong and well made, and they have no attitude whatsoever about higher maintenance drink orders. There’s a jukebox and covered patio tables out back for smoking. People are friendly, none of that elitism you get in divey bars sometimes.

This is an actual dive bar. Not a cute, faux, hipsterific dive bar, but a sincerely personable, grimey, cheap drinking place for the real people of El Cerrito, Richmond, and Albany.
And above all, it’s nice. The people, from all backgrounds, are nice. The bartenders are always nice. Even if you look like a hipster, not a working class local, the bartender doesn’t hold it against you (even if by all rights he should.)
I’m giving them 3 stars because I don’t want other people to ruin this place…

I have been meaning to try the Blue Moon for a while now and got the chance tonight when ordering food next door.
Locals, having a good time, enjoying very good pours at a solid price.
Los Strait Jackets on the stereo creates a chill vibe.

THEE best dive bar in the East Bay! A real sports dive bar! TV’s, pool table, video games, Wii, music-sometimes live music! fun people, fair prices, great drinks and lots of fun! Come by and see Gary (Bear), Miss Qui, Katelynn, Kate, Laney and/or Brian. You’ll have a great time, usually very entertaining… Not your average bar

Wow oh wow. I like me some dive bars but this one takes the cake in dive-y. Re: I set my beer down to get something out of my purse and one of the patrons actually walked up and finished it off… and then moved onto my friend’s drink. I also maybe got the impression if we had stayed longer things were going to get From Dusk Til Dawn weird and I wanted no part of that. Not sure it’s the bar’s fault or not but I’m not interested in talking with the clientele here.

Blue Moon Saloon. It’s a dump. Brian IS the best bartender on San Pablo. If you can deal with the stench coming from the restrooms, as well as the odor of weed wafting in through the back door you’ll be ok. But the guys who claim to be members of the bayARYAN brotherhood are getting to be a bit too much! ok. Brian just jammed me up about 1 star. For him and him only I’ll make it five. He works Saturday Sunday Monday and Tuesday. Come check him out.

I’ve got a soft spot for most dives, so it’s probably saying something that I had a two-star experience here.
I stopped by Blue Moon after visiting Elevation 66 up the road on a Tuesday night.
My wife and I stopped in for a drink. She ordered a PBR, I ordered a glass of Jameson. The total was about $ 10, which seemed a buck or two higher than I had anticipated.
We came on an off-night, but there really wasn’t much there to keep us interested. The bartender was talking to one patron mostly, and the other patrons kept to themselves. Oh well.
To be fair, I’ll stop by the next time I’m around and see if the vibe’s different.
