BB Garden is a replacement of dumpling 10053. Many of the similar dish like the dumpling and among other things can be find in the menu. However, the quality and service are clearly lacking in this one. The waiter was texting and wasn’t paid attention to your request, and the food take a long time to come out despite is almost empty house. We order the dumpling and a pork bone soup. The soup was super salty and was terrible; the dumping was good but not exceptional. Not looking forward to come back, unless some miracle things happened here.(~_~;)

Best dumplings I’ve ever had in my life! Lots of flavor and not too pricey.

Definitely not the best Chinese restaurant around San Gabriel Valley. but pretty decent if you live nearby.

Unilocal! did it again. Past the dull strip mall façade BB Garden boasted a Unilocal window sign. Inside was an unexpected, modern décor Shanghainese restaurant. The obligatory TV was showing Chinese TV, but that didn’t distract from the late lunch menu examination. We ordered the recommended lamb soupy stew with glass noodles and napa cabbage. That came with 4 pieces of lamb on the bone. The meat was very much like beef or pork, with only a hint of the pungent smell some folks don’t enjoy. We also ordered the steamed dumplings which came out very hot and fresh. Inside each little dumpling was a few slurps of delicious soupy juice from the pork stuffing. To round our meal out we also got stir-fried Chinese broccoli which was pretty unique. It was cooked in a fish sauce is our guess, which added extra flavor. I liked this place a lot, esp. after a long bus ride to this area from Mid-Wilshire. Pheh. Not for the faint-hearted :)

This is an excellent place to eat, found purely on a whim, based on speculation taking the Valley Blvd exit, we’d find a place to try to eat(refraining from using Unilocal for guidance and wanting to try something unplanned on a pure spontaneous and random culinary adventure) We drove on Valley for a long time before even hitting a restaurant, so when we saw the sign for BB Garden, it looked good enough to pull into the driveway and parking lot. At first glance at 7pm on a Sunday, there were 1 party of 3 guys eating and nobody else, so if prejudiced by a lack of customers, we’d have left. Luckily we didn’t. I rationalized that dumplings are more of a morning/midday meal, so less popular for dinner. The restaurant had an «A» rating as well as, on the glass door did have a Unilocal sticker(not sure if it was from the current or previous restaurant that occupied this space since they had a «Grand Opening» sign on the front window too. * Disclaimer — Chinese American retail store owners as entrepreneurial marketers are notorious for leaving«Grand Opening» signs up for years, and in fact I’d not be surprised if there was a restaurant called«Grand Opening» somewhere in a Chinatown in America, as much as they also like to have permanent«Going out of Business» and special sales signs that are so old they’re sun faded — — but I digress… …Regardless of whether this is new or old, this was new to us, so we decided to give it a try upon arriving. It was very good. The service was welcoming and excellent. The food quality rivalsif not equals that of Din Tai Fung in so many ways for Shanghai Dumplings(Siu Lum Bao AKA xiaolongbao), and they even have the Crab and Pork variety. It’s hot and juicy. Disclaimer — Do not just shove one in your mouth whole as soon as it’s delivered to your table, they do come very hot, but can cool down within minutes. The beef noodle soup was very tasty, the broth being excellent too. The pricing is very reasonable, and if you have enough people to go «family style» it should cost $ 10 – 15 per person to get a good meal here. The challenge for me is going to be remembering where this is located, and if I’m ever in the El Monte area… so I think I’d probably need to make a specific special trip to come here, but it’s well worth while for the quality food. The parking was easy, but maybe because it wasn’t crowded. The locatio is sort of isolated in my opinon to not being in the middle of the hot bed of the Chinese restaurants in the San Gabriel area, which I think is a disadvantage for them for traffic and support, but it’s great for patrons since it is a hidden gem, and I’d hope they have sustainable support to continue, otherwise if need be to survive, if they moved locations, the quality of the food can stand shoulder to shoulder amongst their peers, so I’d hope they’d continue to thrive wherever they’re located.

They changed the ownership. The food is okay but not legendary like before.
