Had a 1PM appointment and it was 12:15 when I walked in the door. No one greeted me until the heavy guy sitting behind the register finished his convo with a ‘regular’ and told me to select a table. Immediate service on my drink, ten minutes to take my food order, the place was only moderately busy. Fifteen minutes later I asked about my food, five more it arrived. I had about ten minutes to try to stuff down a decent enough Ruben and some fairly crappy fries. I asked for it to be wrapped to go, waitress brings a box and drops it on the table. Told the guy at the register they’re wasting their money looking for new business via TV commercials. Repeats pay the bills and I sure wasn’t going to become one.

I went here today with my husband and my initial thought was«eh.» We opened the door and two employees were standing at the front counter and just staring at us and giggling over what? I don’t know. It made me feel uncomfortable, especially with being 9 months pregnant. Any who, we were finally greeted and asked if it was«for here» or «to go,» my husband chose to go. We were given a menu, but not asked if we had been there before or if there was anything in particular that we wanted… nothing. After scanning the menu, my husband got the Philly cheesesteak with fries and I opted for the Split Cheeks(Chicken salad sandwich) and chips… oh the chip options is what really annoyed me. I’m the type of person that enjoys eating a sandwich with plain chips. The only options they had was sour cream and onion or baked sour cream and onion . Anyways, we got our orders pretty quick and left. My husband opened his container of fries and I was excited that they were hot. Sadly, these fries are definitely frozen and had no seasoning whatsoever. I had a bite of the Philly cheese and I like that it was spicy! I started eating my sandwich and I honestly did enjoy it… without the chips. The bread reminds me of the bread from Publix back at home. It’s chewy, but soft enough to bite into. The chicken salad had a nice flavor as well. Will I go back? Yes, unless I find something better. I believe if they work on customer service and a little on cleanliness, it would go a long way!

Not worth it. After I had said it was«to go» the staff seemed in a rush to get me out of there. The best part of the meal was the frozen onion rings and the fountain drink. The corn beef in the sandwich was dry. Don’t think I’ll be going back any time soon. Not worth it.

This is my go to west side sandwich shop, the food is always amazing and the staff is always friendly. I’ve had most of the offerings on their menu and they all filling enough to either take half home for dinner or just scarf it now and skip it entirely. It’s probably not«the New York experience» some snobs might be looking for, but on the far western reach of Texas it’s pretty damn close. My only true complaint is that, being from the east coast– I have a very solid understanding of what a cannoli should be– and while theirs have the flavor you’d expect the shells tend to be a bit stale and they’re not chocolate dipped nor do they have the stuffing you’d get from Vicaros or in little Italy.

The meal was very delicious, the portion was very large. The atmosphere was very inviting. Also the meats were very fresh.

Disappointed. Made a special trip to dive into a corned beef masterpiece a la New York City. Not to be. The meat was tough, stringy and chewy. Best part of the Al Capone sandwich was the spicy mustard. Sorry I wasted the gas getting there.

Why had I never eaten here before now? The best Ruben sandwich I have ever had! Hot and juicy and delicious. Well well worth it!

Sandwiches are fine, but their food preparers need to wear latex gloves. Everyone in the sandwich business wears them and these guys should too. I just wonder what diseases these guys have passed along? I am specifically referring to the West side location in El Paso. I don’t know what the policy is at other locations.

The west side deli is great. Been getting lunch here for years. Always consistent. The east side Bronx deli, different story. They only brought the name. Major miss step In preparing the food. So go west when you want it right.

Came into the restaurant for a sandwich, and the waitress comes by asking for a drink order. I ask for a glass of ice water as I’m figuring out what I’m going to order. And I’m informed that they don’t offer ice water, only bottled. I did a double take and asked her to confirm that I had heard what I thought I had heard. Which she confirmed. Have never heard of a place that wouldn’t serve a glass of ice water(at least in the US). Naturally, I had to walk out. Thing is, I would probably have ordered a soda once I figured out what I wanted to eat. But screw them. Not going back there. Instead, I’m up the street at Tom’s, where the food is great. Naturally, the first they brought when I was seated was a glass of ice water. I’m okay with a $ 35 ticket for dinner if I get fair value. Trying to jack up my ticket by not offering a glass of ice water isn’t anything resembling fair value.

Sad to say… just no. I sat and watched employees eating behind counter and never washing thier hands while preparing food.(Even continued as I sat and looked.) They ate right next to prep table and from plates. I belive owner or manager allows this as he walked back and forth just randomly. .never interacting with guests. Food is ok. Half my food was cold. Tea was horrible. Wings were tasty. If the owner or manager is some bald guy, then he isn’t workung on cleanslyness. I pray they get it together because their food is pretty good… just not great…

Great sandwiches, and the combos are reasonably priced. I had the steak with garlic and my husband had the chicken with eggplant(I can’t remember the names but they are clever). The onion rings and macaroni salad were both good, and at about $ 15 we both had plenty of lunch! I can’t say whether the place is authentic or not but it’s good and the subs are big. Worth checking out if you like hot sandwiches. They make them fresh, and it’s worth the wait.

Hot Reuben was to die for! A little pricey but worth it. There was a huge variety of subs, both hot and cold. I suggest getting the onion rings as the side. You can’t really go wrong with this place, you won’t regret it :)

Absolutely not a real Bronx deli… the cheese steak was worst than Subway ‘s …they have all the boars head deli meat in a refrigerated glass case in front so you can see but the meat tasted like cheap packaged Oscar Meyer… my freinds sub was laced with at least a cup and a half worth of minced jar bought garlic that she only took two reluctant bites of… I’m from the north east and have been searching for a good«hoagie» or NY pizza spot but no luck!

I travel to NYC often and visit many delis. This has the look of a real deli except for a waitress taking your order. The gangster combo was ok. Really nothing special, sorry. The potato salad was as good as you can buy at Sam’s or Costco. Definitely not made in the deli. The hot Reuben looked like a better sandwich. If I come back, I’ll have to try it.

It was my first visit on Friday(11⁄9) for lunch. I ordered a burger with onion rings. The burger was juicy and the onion rings were not greasy. The service was great. It was a wonderful experience. I only gave four stars because I always believe there’s room for improvement. Parking does suck though.

I always judge a deli by its Reuben, and Chubby’s Reuben was quite good: generous portions of meat, sauerkraut, and well you know what’s on a Reuben, and if you don’t, then SHAMEONYOU! I had higher hopes for the onion rings, which weren’t all that, but then again I didn’t come here to try the onion rings. Pickles are solid though. I also like the relaxed, casual atmosphere. The restaurant is clean and the servers were very friendly. I’m gonna come here to watch the Texas Rangers beat the Yankees next time they play!
