Dillard’s

Today’s experience knocked them down a lot for me. When I purchased a dress for my daughter less than 30 days ago I clarified it could be returned within that time frame, and sure enough they said yes it could. We went in and right away they said it couldn’t be returned, perfect condition and had receipt. I asked to speak to the manager and explained how we were told we could within 30 days. She only would give me store credit. Either your staff needs to be trained better so they can provide accurate information, or you need to honor your return policy.

This is for the Shoe Department:
I have heard rumors of racism in El Paso prior to my moving out here but I refused to pre-​judge. I try to keep an open mind. I’ve loved most of my retail/​restaurant experiences in this town so far. I didn’t love my experience the other day in Dillard’s (Cielo Vista Mall locations) Shoe Department. It was not very busy, there were multiple retail associates just milling about, talking with one another. There were others that were waiting hand and foot on the Hispanic customers. Noone paid any attention to myself or this African American woman (who obviously needed some retail assistance). I walked around trying on display shoes (I’m a size 5.5 or 6, which are many of the displays) – very clearly interested in buying a pair. I even started carrying around one of the displays finally, thinking if they aren’t going to come to me, i’ll come to them. Well, I greeted an associate with a «hello!» and he did not even bother to look up before he walked off then asked a well-​to-​do looking Hispanic female if she needed help. Screw that. I just walked to the cashier, asked for the pair in the back, and bought them. I noticed the African American lady just left, w/​o having been helped at all. I will utilize Zappos online from here on out, despite liking the shoe selection at Dillard’s.
On the flip side, the lady in the hosiery department was very sweet and helpful.
