This is El Paso’s first adventure room and it’s one that I’ll keep coming back to again and again. In fact, it might be time to round up the Unilocalaso peeps and go for another round. There very few things cooler than being an actor in a movie… one of the things that IS cooler than being an actor in a movie is getting to live in that movie(for an hour, but still). No acting, no lines, legitimately trying to figure out some kind of mystery. Think of it as a scene from a movie that you get to be a part of(specifically the scene after you’ve kicked someone’s a$$ and are now trying to piece together all the clues). There are always two different scenarios available and from what I can piece together, each scenario might change just a tad. When I went the scenarios were either a kidnapping scenario or a bomb scenario. And these things are flippin’ hard. The funniest part is that when you walk in, you know what your end goal is, but you really have no idea how to get to it or where to start so you start thinking everything is a clue. You start counting things and looking at where they’re pointing and just a whole lot of nothing that will actually help you. It’s both entertaining and frustrating at the same time. Eventually you’ll start figuring things out and if you don’t, you can get a clue every ten minutes. My group wasn’t able to beat the clock, but I take blame for that. We spent so much time in the first room(but I will say, we found every clue in that room) that when we got to the second room, I immediately started trying to figure out how to get to the third room so we spent all of five minutes in the second room and didn’t pick up a single clue in that room. Needless to say, that hindered us from solving the puzzle since we were missing some very important pieces. This whole place is awesome and it’s the kind of place you can keep coming back to. Great for adults and older kids. It really get’s your brain going, one of the best, hands-on brainteasers I’ve ever experienced.

My husband and I did the haunted room. The staff seemed very nice and the space inside is great but the neighborhood had me freaked out. The inside of each room is realistically decorated to the theme. They put a lot of work into it. However I’ve done over 50 escape games nationwide and this ranks in my top three for«most illogical puzzles» I’ve encountered. They do a good job of making it feel real with few«game pieces»…but in doing that they’ve made the puzzles so obscure that I didn’t find it to be a fun logical puzzle game. I actually didn’t enjoy it, I just found it frustrating.

I had a blast participating in one of Disaster Room 915’s escape mysteries during a recent Unilocal event and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun and challenging group bonding activity. As the name suggests, the disaster scenario takes place inside a room, which is littered with a plethora of potential clues that will bring out the team player in everyone. My team’s challenge was to find a way inside a madman’s laboratory, locate, and disable a deadly chemical bombs planted throughout the world. Though many of us had just met, thanks to my no nonsense leadership we walked out heroes. Fun times!

Last night was actually my second time coming here. I didn’t post about it after my first outing because… I didn’t really get to help my team out for a while. Last night, Unilocal!did and event there and I got to try the upstairs puzzle which was equally as challenging and although I helped some what, I really didn’t feel I contributed that much to it. The guys who started this thing up opened it after going to a similar place in Austin. Instead of looking online for pre-existing puzzles, they created each one themselves. Both rooms are quite elaborate and creative. You can tell they didn’t skimp or take shortcuts. What I found even more incredible, was after we got out of our room, I checked out the basement again, and found out the puzzles/scenario had changed a bit. So even if I had gone down stairs, I would have had a challenge(and maybe been on the losing team ;)). I have only 2 small quibbles, neither of which are enough to lower a star. A– The lights downstairs are so dim, it does inhibit some of the finer details if you don’t have a flashlight on your phone. B– The walkie talkies which they give you for hints are sometimes hard to hear, so it cuts into precious seconds… Thankfully, we had 60 to spare at the end of our most recent one! Coming later this month, the Disaster Room 915 crew is going to update the rooms again to be more horror-centric for the holiday. I may have to go back soon. I’m so impressed that had I any money on me last night, I would have bought and sported the DR9 t-shirt. Keep up the good work, guys.

#LatePost So here we go, another OYE! And this Unilocal event didn’t disappoint. Had a awesome time and a great adventure at El Paso’s 1st and only escape themed disaster room. The concept: You and a group of friends(2 – 9 people) form a team and receive a briefing. Our briefing was; a scientist /chemist went mad and stole a bunch of chemicals and made bombs and placed them in 4 cities and if detonated, could level the entire cities and kill millions. We had to stop this from happening. We get 1 hr. Only supplies are a notepad and a walkie talkie. Every 10 minutes, if needed, you can call in on the walkie to ask for hints. From there you all get locked in a room. Our room had tons of stuff in it. Globes, calendars, full set of encyclopedias, the periodic table of elements written on the wall, all kinds of chemistry equations on a black board, photos and populations of major cities and on and on… There were also locked cabinets and file cabinets that held clues, or the key to get out of the room. But these locks are combination locks, and the clues are all hidden inside the room. NOTHING is given to you. You just find the clues all on your own. Example, one element had words written on it like royalty, monarch etc… So I looked in an encyclopedia for the word King, which led to a Charles Glen King, a chemist born Oct 22. Albert then checked the calendar and oct 22 said trip to Azberijan. Then we discovered the capital of Azberijan was Baku. Broken down, Baku creates elements; Ba — K — U. Those elements have numbers as do all. Those numbers were the combination to one or the locks which let us out of room 1 and into the next… More clues and even harder mysteries to solve but finally, at 59 minutes we found and disarmed the bombs. Shit was intense and super difficult, but an amazing good time. Those who like genuine detective work and mental challenges, please try this place out! But be warned, it ain’t easy! The other group, unfortunately, didn’t solve their mystery in time. So it’s not like a gimmie you’re gonna be the hero. Gotta earn that biz. Exciting and very stimulating. A must try for groups of fiends looking to have a fun night outside of the regular old club/bar scene. But honestly, go in a group. We had 8 and everyone solved a little piece in their own, and we ain’t no slouches either and STILL. Only 1 minute to spare before the world went up in smoke. They change up the scenarios monthly I think, so there’s always something new to try. Great Unilocal event, great business. Will for sure be back.

We had such a good time doing this«locked room» puzzle! So nice to have something different to do, and affordable as well! The puzzle wasn’t too easy or too complex. Plenty of red herrings to keep things interesting as well!
