Pretty good. No AC. Huevos rancheros, okay. Muchachos very good. Served with tortillas. Just water with breakfast.

Went there this morning and had her breakfast special with the chicken. It was EXCELLENT! It’s set up like an old diner(eg Waffle House bar) so you can see her cook and it’s obvious everything you’re eating is fresh! As soon as she topped my plate with that queso, I knew my tastebuds were in for a ride.

This was my first visit to El Paso and I was hoping to eat some great food while I was there — Lucy’s did not disappoint! After reading other Unilocal reviews and seeing the pics of the Machaca, I knew where I was going for breakfast. The place is tiny with maybe 10 – 12 bar stools at the counter. I sat down and was helped immediately. There were two ladies behind the counter and another who I assumed(from her conversations with other guests and then talking to her myself) is the owner. Everyone was super friendly. The food came out quickly and looked incredible. The machaca was so tender and had a great flavor. This place is not the Ritz, but if you’re looking for a great meal and good company, this is the spot. I can’t wait to go back!

I came here based on the reviews, and to be honest I was a little shocked, there is a sign out side that reads an El Paso tradition since 1974, everything in there looks like it’s from 1974, it’s really an old hole in the wall greasy place, a couple of stools, no table, hardly any parking outside. No the cook was nice and spoke while she cooked I had the machaca, which is made from a boiled piece of pot roast, eggs hashbrowns and the strange cheese sauce that for me Ruined the machaca, I would have preferred the traditional meat, eggs, onions, peppers, tomatoes. I was surprised what happened while I was there, I was the first one there at 7:30AM had an early flight and wanted to make sure I checked this joint out, about 10 minutes after I arrived, a steady flow of people started to arrive, until there were no more stools, and some students from the nearby school picked up quesadillas to go, the food was not bad, and the coffee was good, but this is just a little too messy for my tastes. Plus it was only one cook and she was overwhelmed, lucky I was first, but it still took me a while to check out.

The huevos con chorizo was amazing. The salsa is fresh, the food is cooked right in front of you, and the staff is friendly.

Machaca was good, but they cover it in a soupy Velveeta sauce that almost ruins the dish. Coffee was Folger’s(literally), so I won’t say anything more about that. Oh, and there was an abundance of house flies. I like«greasy spoon» breakfast joints, but this place missed the mark.

Wonderful. Food was wonderful. I was craving pancakes they were melt in your mouth delicious but the eggs hash browns and beans were fantastic as well. The beans were slightly spicy and the hash browns had a unique flavor that made me want more.

Love this place! It is a go-to for me and my best friend on our lunch break at UTEP since it is close by and it fits perfect into our college student budget. My only con is the place is small so I hate the seating but the food here is so good I won’t knock off a star for that! The huevos rancheros are a must. If you’re not feeling breakfast food so much, order Lucy’s Burger. Two delicious patties served with cheese and delicious green chiles. the burger has that yummy homemade taste that definitely beats dollar menu crap!

My fiancée and I went on a road trip through El Paso during the summer. During our trip, we needed to grab breakfast and I was tired of the Starbucks and McDonald’s. This place had it going on! Great Mexican breakfast(mm…chilaquilas), great coffee, and awesome service. I’m going back when I’m in town next. So good!

Awesome little hole in the wall that serves amazing beef Machaca with chile con queso, Eggs, and hashbrowns. I never thought I would find better Machaca than Kiki’s but I think I found it. I’m definitely coming back soon to try the juevos rancheros.

I wanted to like this place so much that my heart is breaking as I write this review. I love hole in the wall restaurants with great food and no pretentiousness. That’s how Lucy’s Café was described to me. I can attest that it is indeed a hole in the wall with tons of history… but the good food didn’t materialize. I had tripitas and barbacoa tacos. The tripitas were perfectly crisp and crunchy, as I asked for. But that was the high point of my meal. The barbacoa was dry and flavorless. My tacos came with lemons instead of limes(a crime any good authentic Mexican restaurant knows to avoid). There wasn’t enough cilantro for the tacos and the accompanying rice and beans were just OK. I agree that I wasn’t there for breakfast and I didn’t order the machaca, which seems to be what everyone is raving about, but I had a very important reason for avoiding the machaca: they pour chili con queso on top. No self respected Mexican would ever put a load of yellow cheese on a decent machaca. I guess I am a traditionalist who was fooled one too many times by the promise of ‘authentic’ Mexican food. But I don’t understand why restaurants avoid labeling themselves as texmex when that’s what they serve. There is nothing wrong with texmex, there’s plenty of people who love it. I live with one. I just hate when someone is trying to pass a yellow cheese mess as authentic Mexican.

Absolutely authentic Mexican food. As an El Paso native. Easily one of the best Mexican food spots in the city. Great coffee, great menu, friendly staff. Reminds of home as your mother makes breakfast for you. Speedy service, and you can see the food right in front of you. Just excellent El Paso friendly service.

Cool little local spot! It is some bar stools and a bar. You can chat with your waitress while she cooks your food right behind the counter. Fun place, good simple Mexican breakfast, and good conversation. Try the flan:)
