I’m really beginning to think a majority of people initially start Unilocal accounts just so they can leave negative reviews for places. Granted, my very first review was a 1 star rating for possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever been to, I still believe in giving credit where credit is due. Such is the case for Nona’s Pizza. Whilst in search for a place that served NY style pizza, I came across Nona’s. Yes, I read the dozens of 2 star to 1 star reviews, yet decided I just had to check this place out for myself and kept an open mind. And I’m certainly glad I did. I think most people seem to forget this is JUST a pizza place. Which really makes you wonder what the hell were these other folks expecting going in. Anyway, I ordered mine to go since I just felt like finding some decent pizza to eat in the comfort of my own home. I took note on the overall decorum and set up of the place and remember thinking, «This seems like it would be a good place to take my son one Saturday when we’re all bored.». This pizza parlor features a modest number of games, but it looked like plenty enough to keep any average child entertained longer than 3 nanoseconds. Hey, fellow parents… small victories, anyone? After taking note that 1.) the cashier behind the desk was cute AND2.) was sporting an Apple Watch like moi, I took my order which was already waiting for me and made my way home. So I ordered a half cheese/half pepperoni pizza with some buffalo wings. Both pizzas were great and brought that familiar NY style back in my mouth. Though I’m partial to the cheese pizza, which is a good sign whenever a pizza place can make really good cheese pizza. I really only have two complaints about Nona’s overall. First, whilst I really enjoyed my pizza, I didn’t care much for the crust and the sauce seemed different from what I expected. It kinda has a hint of sweetness to it that I can barely describe, but it certainly doesn’t make the pizza bad by any means. Second thing: the wings. I was expecting more or possibly too much. But these buffalo wings tasted like anything BUT. By that I mean… there was no kick. They had less kick than mild wings. Plus, the meat was dry just like another reviewer already pointed out. Despite the fact that I acquired my usual favorite blue cheese dressing, it tasted like I was just eating regular chicken wings. Nona’s might wanna consider revamping their buffalo sauce recipe. And… as a guy who absolutely detests overly spicy foods, that really should tell them something. Ultimately, this place is totally worth the drive from my house if I’m looking for a selection outside the mainstream(because honestly, I am sick of ordering the kids Domino’s and Papa John’s every week). They are NOT as bad as other people are saying. You just gotta give their food a chance. Now, I can’t speak for the service because I got my food for take out. But I’d like to think they can do as good a job as that cute cashier who took my card. Also, the place smells awesome! Overall rating: not *exactly* NY style pizza, but… close enough. I’d give them a 7 out of 10.

It’s kinda hard for me not to love pizza but this place comes close. Not a whole lot of flavor and slightly UNDERCOOKED! Vegetables on the wall to wall were still a little raw. Salad was really big and tasty. The wings(sold by the pound?) were delicious, but let me preface that by saying they were meaty and DRY! I love dry meat(think pork chops baked at 300* for three hours) they come with or without breading. We had breadless and they were yummy. About 50 bucks for two to eat a lot of food and have some leftover slices. Not sure I would go back.

Me and my husband love this place, the food is fresh and great beer selection, the kids like the old school games, I have a soft heart for moms and pops, and this place fills it!

came on a Saturday afternoon. it was so dead we contemplated if it was actually open. once we got in and settled, we figured out why. first things, you order at a cashier and pay, then sit. the ticket is for the subtotal, tip and total. im supposed to put a tip based off what?! I have been in the place for ten minutes. a large part of the seating is taken up by arcade games. don’t waste time asking the cashier if you can get change. it’s not gonna happen. the food takes a while. they advertise if it’s longer than thirty minutes, you get a free appetizer or dessert. I went and asked, but I was at 29 minutes and it was«about to come out .» the food. the actual food. the pizza isn’t bad, but isn’t worth $ 35. I would much rather go to peter piper, and get tokens included in the price. the food is actually better there. I think it’s obvious. I didn’t like it. I probably won’t be back.

I had never been there before. I wanted to try their cauliflower crust. When I walked in I noticed there were a lot of games, like for kids. There was one cashier and one family of five in front of us. They took almost twenty minutes to order so we could not order for twenty minutes! The cashier didn’t say«While you are thinking let me take care of the two adults behind you» NO she was as clueless as they were. Finally we order. She told us they didn’t have the cauliflower crust. There is a lack of clarity in the menu. The cauliflower crust is priced at $ 9.99 as opposed to the large above it that is $ 8.99. I found out that it is smaller than that pizza but I am not sure how big it is, just smaller. I don’t see beer on the menu and I know my friend said she had a beer there. I just order a water with our Pizza and my husband orders his drink. We are given a number that looks like a large playing card. We go to a table close the the family that was in front of us. We watch a waitress walk around with a dirty towel for 15 minutes while we wait for our pizza. She cleaned one table with a dirty towel. The floors had trash, they were cement but not painted, they were filthy. The waitress delivers the pizza to the family but brings no plates. How difficult is it to bring a pizza with plates? They have to get up and go get the red plates from the soda station. So I went and got our plates before the pizza came. We ordered a half and half pizza, my half had spinach. My husband had pepperoni and sausage and thought it was«ok», mine tasted bad. I don’t know what was wrong but the taste was like«rancid». I don’t know how else to say it. I later noticed there was a separate«bar» where you could order beer. There seemed to be a lot of beers on tap. I would not go back.

I could not wait to try this place so tonight when we finally did I was underwhelmed to say the least. First, the food. We ordered a basic pepperoni pizza which was ok. The crust was tasty and it was a pretty good standard pizza. The fries were ok as well, covered in pesto, chorizo, tomatos, cheese, and jalapenos. It was bit too much on there and would have been better with just a couple of the toppings instead of too many that just didn’t flow. We also got milkshakes(which for a plain non alcoholic one is almost $ 5). They tasted like cheap chocolate syrup and we could have done better at home. Now on to the biggest problem here, the service. First we walked up to a counter and it took a few minutes for the texting employee to even realize we were there. Then she proceeded to text WHILE taking our order. Then the topper, after we paid she gave us the receipt, told us to sign and walked away! No «thank you», just promptly went behind the other counter to continue her texting. I was floored at how horrible the customer service was. We dealt with 3 other employees during this visit. One who brought out the food, who was ok. One who was sent to clear our table before we were done also polite, not exactly welcoming. Then finally another girl who wanted us out desperately apparently and started to clear it up while we were two feet away at the arcade area. For a restaurant that has maybe 3 tables full and is hours from closing I don’t get the extreme sense of urgency to make people leave. The arcade area was fun, and gave us something to do while waiting but all in all unless they start training employees on the basic principles of customer service and politeness we will not be back.

I had really high hopes after a coworker told me they liked the pizza from here. It was about a 10 minute wait just to get our order placed because there is only one cash register. We ordered a half mushrooms and black olives and half jalapeño lovers. When our pizza arrived I noticed that the mushrooms were soggy and were obviously canned and placed after the pizza cooked. I could not get past the horrible mushroom taste and consistency. My jalapeño lovers had raw jalapeño and pickled jalapeño with sausage which was not bad. I did find a piece of wire inside my pizza. I brought it up to a waiter’s attention but the manager did not offer any type of discount on the pizza. I don’t think I will be going back.

Just like everyone else this establishment was a big let down. Enough said. No to the wings. No to the pizza. No to the meatball sandwich. It is what it is. Wish we would of read the reviews before coming in. Just my humble opinion. Hope others enjoy.

Only ever go on Tuesdays dollar slices… that’s when the pizzas out of this world. If you try to order any other day that pizza dough is gummy, too much sauce and skimpy on the toppings… Definitely not worth the price…

Have been wanting to try Nona’s since they first opened on the west side. When they opened another location on the east I couldn’t wait to go with my family. Upon arrival there was no parking and we had to park down the street. I thought it was a great sign that it was busy, meaning the food is great. Walking into Nonas, it was complete chaos. There was no where to sit, and when I tried finding a server to put my name on the waiting list she told me there was no waiting list and that we were responsible for seating ourselves. People kept pouring through the door and it was impossible to even walk in there. It became frustrating and overwhelming to stalk people at their tables while they were eating to wait for them to finish. There is also to many large tables. There were a lot of 6 tops with only 1 – 3 people sitting at them. After 20 mins of people literally looking like vultures to get a table we left and will likely not be back again.

Awful place. The service was simply terrible. One lady is running around, while the assistant manager and all other are laughing. Ignoring the room of people looking at them. The pizza came out before the salad and the appetizer. The salad she brought was incorrect. We never got the appetizer. After I asked her to remove the items that we requested, she snapped back and told me that they are just too busy. I had to ask for plates and we never got any of the sides we requested. Then she advised me that it is going to take 5 days to get my money back. Sad to see geoske brand name deteriorate. Now they are just too busy to provide service and good food.

The worst. I can’t begin to explain how much this pizza tasted like public school cafeteria pizza. Let’s start with the blob of cheese that covered the pizza, it was foul tasting. The rest of the ingredients where there for décor not for taste. The arrangement inside was awkward, as you walk in the restrooms are in the same area as where you order. Therefore you are constantly having to move over to let people in to use the restroom while you’re waiting in line to order. I requested a cup for water and to my surprise it read Cobo Joe’s, for a second I was confused. There is no wait service so that can be a little frustrating. Anyways I’m never going back there. The location was ideal but everything else pretty much was a letdown.

No customer service skills whatsoever. The manager walked around with his lab top and never said hello. The waitresses are there to do a job, they don’t love it. As I always say, I’m about customer service. It definitely lacks. Everyone in the place should be smiling and asking how are you. Never got that once. The pizza is just ok. A little to thick for my liking. Gramaldis at the fountains has them beat by a long shot! Took longer than 20 min for a pizza, guess they put the order to go and never called us. Probably won’t come back. Not impressed.

I am a Nona’s regular to the Westside location and love it! However this review is for the Eastside location. I met a group of friends here to kick off our fantasy draft an I was excited to see this new location. First impression is to measure it against the westside location which I am most fond of. The eastside business is in place on the end of a shopping plaza while the westside is a stand alone. I mention this since it creates some parking challenges. As I walked in I felt comfortable that the owners kept a similar décor. This is a much smaller location so it does fill up quickly. My first observation and one of my biggest complaints is that it operates differently. There is no real bar to hang out at. You have to stand in line as soon as you walk in to place your order(similar to Chipotle/subway/etc). I am not a big fan of this. My girlfriend and I are foodies, so we generally like to try an appetizer, main meal, many drinks and desert. We barely tried anything since we had no desire to get in line each time for everything. Not a good plan as far as I can tell. The food was as good as the westside location but there is no comparison to the operations. I believe I’m sticking to the westside location. I recommend this as a great place to try for pizza, wings, beer and to catch a game but I recommend that even if you have a longer drive, head to the westside location to give this establishment a fighting chance against the competition.

Service was very poor they asked if there was a table available? Isn’t it their job to find out? The nachos are terrible no flavor and very dry. Wings were dry and cold I could have done a better job at home. Once the pizza arrived it was raw, soggy and cold ! Waitress asked if I needed anything else? I replied yes can I have another beer she directed me to the bar. The table next to us asked for another drink(alcohol) and she brought it over to her. Wow this really is sad to experience this on a 3 day weekend with my family! 60 dollars down the drain and no manger on the floor to see if there are any problems. Also had to sit next to a trash bin which was overflowing.

Just like a previous Unilocaler I arrived at Nona’s with high expectations considering all the hype I had heard at work. When we arrived for dinner on a Friday night the place was packed to the gills so I thought it was a good sign. One of the servers told us it would be a 30 minute wait for the pizza but there was no seating at all. We decided to leave and come back another day. Two weeks later, we arrived at 5 on a Saturday and although busy it was manageable. We ordered the pepperoni meatball pizza with regular crust and wings. The wings took 10 minutes and pizza took a good 20 minutes to come out. The wings were ok; nothing to write home about but I was disappointed with the pizza. The crust was over cooked so it felt like I was biting into cardboard and the toppings and tomato sauce were bland. My daughter commented she liked Peter Piper Pizza better and I agree. We tried the Nutella pizza only to be even more disappointed; it took another 20 minutes to come out and found over cooked pizza crust with a skinny layer of Nutella topped w powdered sugar! Wow there could have been more creativity and a softer crust to make this at least more chewable. Nona’s has nothing on Cici’s dessert pizza; just saying. The place is indeed very small and the games take up a third of the space. TVs on all the walls were great but I could not enjoy football with the dinging of air hockey and video games right next to us. We won’t be returning.

Well after all the hype I heard about this place, my family and I were very excited to try it out. Unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. The place is really small and the bar is not really a bar. They use half of the space for about 3 arcade type games. That space could have been utilized for more bar space or sitting space. I can only speak for the half cheese/half sausage pizza we tried and it wasn’t all that great. The crust was undercooked and gummy. We also had the bomb dip and it was just decent. They took quite a while to bring us our pizza too. The place was also a bit unorganized and took a long time just to get a refill of soda at the one soda station and many people waiting to get drinks. I did give it 3 stars because of the variety of the types of pizzas you can get with the cauliflower or gluten free crust and the different sauces. But I am still skeptical on the taste because of the pizza we tried. I also did like their patio. I think I need to come again when they are more established to see if they get more organized and to try a different type of pizza. I will update the stars and my review as well if need be but for now I’m sticking with a 3.

I had high hopes for this restaurant. Given its high visibility location and prominent patio dining I assumed this pizzeria would be a great dinner place within walking distance of my house. Instead we found an overcrowded and unorganized day care center/restaurant. Half of the interior was dedicated to video games. A bar is shoved into another corner of the restaurant. Think of this place as a Peter Piper Pizza shoved into a restaurant the size of a McDonalds. Perhaps because of the grand opening, the cashier advised us that the restaurant was not taking more orders for twenty minutes and that once placed, the order would come out in another thirty minutes. We decided to leave at this point. I wish this place well as it provides a sorely needed dining alternative in the neighborhood but it also needs to rethink who its target market really is.

Many cities have a Pizza, there’s New York style pizza, there’s Chicago Deep Dish pizza, even Little Caesars claims to serve«Detroit style pizza»(tastes like it sounds =/), and if I had to name an El Paso style pizza, I think Nona’s would be it, the pizza is tasty and the place is fun. The pizza is quite yummy, it’s neither thin nor thick, just right, with the proper amount of crisp. There’s many topping options that include locally inspired combinations, but I heard $ 1 slice and my ears perked! Darn good pepperoni slices, plus I turned it into dessert by adding honey to my leftover crust, INNOVATION! The menu don’t stop at pizza, the wings are tasty, and they have salads for the chicks(just kidding, ladies, you know I love you). They also have a nice selection of beers available, yay beer! The atmosphere at Nona’s is casual, fun, and vibrant, there’s a handful of arcade games, including my favorite, air hockey. There’s a handful of TVs, making it a good option for watching the game. Patio seating is available and offers stunning views of Montwood and Albertsons. Nona’s is a great hang out all-around!
