We have been a few times to get coffee on a sunday afternoon each year when we visit Michigan. This cute little shop is a mix of an art gallery and coffee shop. Its fun to browse all the art pieces while you wait for your or sip on your iced lattees. They have a good amount of syrup flavors(both regular and sugar free) and offer soy milk(which is great for my vegan sister). Overall they are polite and make a nice iced coffee. Outsie they have patio chairs and you can drink your coffee while overlooking the lake in Michigan. Its beautiful and a fun afternoon stop.

Came across this cute spot on a random drive around Frankfort/Elberta. It sits on a hill overlooking Betsie Lake & the town of Frankfort. Coffee was awesome & they have a nice selection of baked goods. Art gallery was a pleasant surprise as well. We sat outside with a light breeze… very relaxing. Would stop in again!

I LOVE Trick Dog! It is a hidden gem on top of a hill in Elberta. The views are gorgeous, and the quirky, fun artwork makes a great atmosphere both in and out of the café. I love the outdoor seating and browsing the art gallery. The only reasons I am not giving it four stars are because it is a bit pricey, and there is not much to choose from if you are looking for food.

This is a cool little art gallery and coffeeshop. I had read about it before hand and made sure to drop by on one of my days off. The gallery is stuffed full of artwork and quirky pieces. The coffeeshop was only serving drinks and pastries — no food — which I was a little disappointed by, since I was hoping to get some lunch. Instead, I had a cherry smoothie and spent a couple of hours sitting on the porch reading. A lovely way to spend the afternoon.

NOT to be missed. Understand? You must go here if you’re in the vicinity! Browse around the arty gift shop while you’re waiting for your drink. I think my usual drink is the chai. Memorable menu items for me include the granola/yogurt(my favorite granola!) and apricot scone with devonshire cream. Also the stuffed French toast. These taste best when eaten on the porch with a beautiful view of the bay. Stay for a while and enjoy the friendly bees and the Lake Michigan breeze.

Trick Dog is an amazing place every time I am up north I try to get breakfast or lunch here at least once. Also, their smoothies are amazing and while you wait you can wander around the gallery or sit outside and watch everyone pass you buy. The cuban sandwich is to die for but they do run out of bread some times,(its a small shop give them a break). I would def. put Trick Dog on the top of your list when you arrive in Frankfort.

Feeling lazy after a day of sun? «Unleash yourself» and grab a pick-me-up espresso at Trick Dog, Elberta’s eclectic gallery and coffeebar. Located overlooking Betsie Bay and featuring the regional art of owner Greg Jaris, the gallery offers«new perspectives in art and distinctive refreshments.» When you arrive, take a moment to inspect the building’s cedar log and stone posts. You’ll find several stones molded into quirky images – from frogs to the Elberta peach(the Village namesake). Nature themes continue inside with building supports formed by ironwood trees. Even the floor is a work of art. Visitors stroll upon a tile mosaic of a water and sky scene full of snapping turtles, frolicking dogs and other playful creatures. The fanciful quality is an underlying theme in all of Jaris’ art, from paintings and sculpture to furniture and stonework. The uncommon ideas carry over to the snack bar where Linda Jaris is busy making iced babka toast or brown bread with mascarpone cheese to accompany steaming espressos and chai tea. Ah, sure beats another tired old muffin. Enjoy your treats at one of the antique tabletops from Mexican cantinas. Or kick back on the cedar deck outside and take in the view of Betsie Bay – enjoy the local history as you view the City of Milwaukee car ferry steam ship floating serenely in her slip.
