I was there before noon on Labor Day, and was their first and only customer during the two brews I tasted there. I make a point of visiting new microbreweries while traveling whenever I can, and I have to say, this is definitely the smallest brewery I’ve visited yet! It is extremely convenient to highway 99. It only took me a couple minutes to detour there. Its on the far side of a small clean industry type warehouse building with no signs visible from the street itself. The owner served me. A very personable guy. They have 5 taps, all of which are their own product. I tried the saison, and then the stout, and was very impressed with their quality. The place, BTW, is very clean and looks recently opened or renovated. To reach the restroom one walks through the storage and brewing area. There I saw a few small tanks, the largest being at most four feet high. On my return I asked the owner where the actual brewing tanks were and he said I walked right by them. This IS a small brewery! Well, I stopped at nine different breweries going and coming from Fresno to Reno this trip, and I must admit, this is the one I’ve now marked out as the best place to stop en route. Convenient to highway 99, quality product, classy owner and(small!) ambiance.

Awesome place for all your home brew needs. Friendly staff and very helpful. They helped me customize a recipe for an Imperial IPA and it came out awesome. It fermented to 9.2% and was very smooth and carbonated well after only three weeks of bottle conditioning. I will definitely come back! A++++++

Came in February and enjoyed the IPA. Small tasting room but they have some outdoor seating. Might be more of a home brewery supply store but I have proven I will drink beer anywhere.

This place is amazing, almost the definition of a mom and pop shop. I’m horrible with names so I’ll just say Frank and his wife got me started and have kept me going on home brewing, including my recent endeavor to build a kegerator. They have some great recipes and all the equipment you could need. Oh and they have blocks and toys to keep my 3 year old busy while I shop and pick their brain.

I’ve been going to HCB for years now. Some visits for brewing supply’s, some just for some excellent brew! The whole staff is awesome. They can walk you through setting up any kind brewing. Also, it’s easier to remember everything with a beer in your hand. Hands down the best place to get a beer in Elk Grove. Hope to see ya there. Cheers!

Went in to get a bottle capper and some caps for my first brew. Asked about prepackaged kits for my 1 gallon carboy that I got as part of a beginners kit from a non-brew store as a present. They didn’t have any prepacked, but did help me put together the ingredients to make another batch, along with going over the directions for this new one and other helpful advice. Friendly, knowledgeable, and they have a beer garden which I was not able to check out this time, but maybe next time, as I am sure I will be back next time I need supplies, possibly including an upgrade to a five gallon setup they sell.

Called first to see if they had a case of 1 lit. ez cap bottles in and they did. Their website listed the case for $ 39.51 but I was charged $ 43.50 + tax so I don’t know what they would charge you more to come and pick them up. I asked the gal who rang me up why I was charged more and she didn’t really give me an answer except that it was only $ 4 more. Not very good business practice especially for a small business. I won’t be back!

I went in to grab some yeast, dextrose and some other little items in the store. The store was clean and organized. It’s a little small but seems like they offered a lot of varieties of yeast and grains. Owner was nice and interested in my brews. Pricing is comparable to any other local home brew store and comparable to online if you calculate shipping cost. Anyways purchase locally if you can, its not much more expensive and you really help keep it local and in business for those days that you might need to grab some emergency yeast. Store hours are not the best especially if you work a 9 – 5 because they close early and are closed on Sundays. So be aware of their hours before you stop by.
