I’m a legal secretary working mostly large firms for senior partners, so I’m picky about attorneys. Matthew has been first-​rate. From my work experience I already knew the procedure and what would happen, and it’s been a pleasure to see a real professional at work on my behalf.
I also know from work experience that quality representation is often expensive. Matthew’s
practice is a breath of fresh air; his billings reflect efficiency and respect for his client’s resources. Trust me, too many California attorneys know how to fluff billings, and Matthew stands apart from that.
In family law you’ll also work with paralegals, and Matthew’s paralegal Traci is excellent. They both are good listeners, quickly «got it» about my details, and strategically have litigated my case appropriately and economically. As I well know, that is about as good as it gets.
I have a lot at stake in my case, and knowing that my interests are so well protected is extremely important. Also, Matthew’s practice stands out among the family law bar: The client gets the benefit of efficient professional expertise. In California, unfortunately, this is unusual.

I am a single mother, who went to court to for custody at the time my 10 month old son.
I was very nervous, and just making enough money to support me and my son, definitely not enough to hire an attorney. Yet, with Matthew he made me a payment plan that was affordable for me and represented me in court.
He was very professional in the fact that he went over to talk to my sons father and his mother before the hearing. With wanting to make an agreement and not wanting to battle for months. Which is what I had personally asked of him. My court went smoothly and thanks to his help we were able to reach and agreement that now a year and a half later are still abiding by and happy with our situation.
I appreciated that he was there before the hearing to help with my nerves and to talk to me about how the process would work. He’s a great guy who understands and individuals needs.

Not impressed at all. Went for help because I thought his website was accurate in which he states he is a straight shooter. Was very surprised when I sat down with him and was giving a condescending tone and a «you can’t afford me «attitude.
We didn’t even discuss my income or his fees. It seemed like he didn’t want to do anything until money was down on the table.
I understand money talks, but to be so unapproachable right out of the gate does not say much of his legal expertise.

My divorce wasn’t a messy one but my ex wasn’t very cooperative either. I’d been taken to the cleaners by a paralegal (who lost paperwork and never told me so I waited for nearly a year for them to figure out their mistake!) and Matthew jumped in mid stream and straightened everything out. He did what he said for the exact price he quoted. He is quick to respond and works with some great paralegals who are also talented and responsive. I have never taken the time to review anyone/​thing on Unilocal but felt Matthew’s service definitely deserved it. My thanks to Matthew and his team!

I have been divorced for over ten years now. Yet, there was one last pending issue left to be solved. I really HATE this contention! I’m sure like most, I don’t want any court telling me what to do.
