The restaurant is not closed as some may think. It’s being repaired. Last time visited 4÷19÷16 eta 22 days till site reopens. Worth the wait, the food and service is impeccable. We can’t wait for reopen.

Unfortunately went to go try this tonight and there’s a sign on the door saying thank you customers but 1÷21÷16 was the last day it was open.

Closed down as of 1÷31÷16. This place has been around for more than a decade. It will be forever known as a local authentic Korean food restaurant that had the best sushi rice(hedobap). The udon and tonkatsu will be missed.

Love love this place. The seafood pancake is truly amazing as everyone says it is! The sushi menu isn’t that extensive but I think some of the best quality I’ve had and cheap! I tried the Hew dup bap for the first time here and has yet to find another as good as theirs. The service here is also pretty fast!

have been going for more than 20 years. I love the food. Sometimes service is not so attentive. But food makes up for it.

You should definitely get the pajun(the Korean seafood pancake) — it’s so good and it’s huge!!! The pajun is so crisp and flavorful, it’s delicioussss! Also, definitely get their hwedupbab. Their hwedupbab is DELICIOUS!!! It’s kind of expensive but you can split it with someone else while also eating the pajun!

I love hoe dup bap here as well as the seafood pancake. Doen jang soup is sort of fusion Japanese style and not authentic Koream, but soon dubu is spot on. The servers are friendly and the food comes out relatively fast.

This is a great place to get Korean food and Japanese food all in one seating. The Korean food is very traditional. I ordered the fish roe spicy soup. It was spicy yet a perfect amount of heat. The soup comes out super hot. The soup is so hot that it is served still boiling in the bowl. The soup is clean and to the point. The roe and fish really shines in this dish. As far as the sushi goes, I ordered from the a la cart sushi menu. I loved the eel the most. The eel sauce was savory with a sweet element. The eel was fatty and soft. The rice was fresh and seasoned to perfection. The rice is steamed and has a sweet back note and a tart undertone. They have a wide array of ban chan(Korean side dishes). The side dishes are fresh and it is clear they make their ban chan fresh on a daily basis. The service is quick and friendly.

Fantastic hwae dup bop, sushi and bulgogi. Friendly service, mom and pop feel, reasonable prices, prefer over Shin Chon for casual warm vibe.

The food was just okay and the sushi wasn’t terrible, but what surprised me was the lack of professionalism at this restaurant. While eating, I saw the two waitresses sitting, having a beer with soju(Korean alcohol). There were still plenty of people in the restaurant and it was still over an hour until closing. I can understand drinking when you’re closed up for the night, but while you’re still open? The service suffered as a result. It’s hard to trust a restaurant that allows their waitresses to drink while working.

Delicious spicy appetizers, great seafood dishes, & reasonable prices for the area. Also, real orientals dine there, so it must be authentic. My favorite is the Spicy seafood bowl, called something like O bok Jum

Been eating here for over 10 years! Love this place more then any other Korean and/or Japanese food! Everything we order is wonderful. Starting with the best miso soup, wonderful green salad, fresh sushi, amazing kimchi and side dishes along with great seafood pancake! Just writing about it makes me want to go right now :)

This is truly a hiden gem. My go to place for Korean food, everything is authentic and the food taste great, feel like I am in Korea. The service is phenomenal. My favorite dish is hwe dup bap(sashimi/caviar and rice) the fish taste very fresh and clean, this is the only sashimi I would eat. I enjoyed eating all the side dishes too.

This place is amazing ! It’s a hole in the wall, but the food is always satisfying and fresh. I recommend the hwaedupbap and pajun!

My korean roommate is crazy about their hedupbap, this big bowl of just raw fish and lettuce. It truly is a big bowl, check out the pictures. It’s like one of those communal soup bowls. If you’re a fan of that dish, this is your place. For your friends who are dragged along and must order something to get through the meal, I recommend the yukgaejang, a spicy beef soup. It came with rice and was not too spicy. I also really liked their seafood pancake, it was crispy on the outside yet chewy– perfect consistency and clean taste. I would probably not come here on my own because they are known for the hedupbap dish more than anything else it seems. All the ladies who ordered it liked it, so there you go.

I’ve always wondered about this place, but it definitely lives in the shadow of the other Korean restaurants in the Ellicott City area. I ordered a hwe dup bap() at the recommendation of the friend I was eating with for $ 14.95. We had a nice little set of banchan(side dishes) brought out and each of us got a bowl of miso soup with our hwe dup bap(listed as «hae dub bob» in the menu). The portion was very big, I was no where near finishing it in my sitting. It was very good, too. Fresh sashimi and yummy sauce. I wish there was maybe a bit more rice at the bottom, but I liked it a lot. Our server was also very nice to us. I like this place, but it’s a bit pricey for me and when there are other options, I don’t know if this would be at the top of my choices. But I would definitely come back to see what else they have to offer.

Bad news… I think I am done with this one. I probably have ordered take out here about 10 times. Lately I am having a sanitation issue. I started looking around… really looking and I saw unclean floors, and overall it’s just below average. Even when you walk in, the front door barely opens and is always dirty. Not really a good first impression. Oh well… back to Yama Sushi.

Casual Korean fare, pretty quiet, quick service. The food isn’t mind-blowingly off the charts, but it serves the purpose when you’re craving some sushi or Korean food.

I tried their hwe du bap and wasn’t such a big fan of it. While it was okay and it had all the essentials, I found the ratio of ingredients were a bit off. I prefer the Shin Chon or Lotte Food Court version to be a bit better. I did like that the Hansung had shredded their greens quite nicely, but the ratio of vegetables, fish, rice, and tobiko was a bit funky. The large serving of hwe du bap is accompanied with a miso soup(a tad on the salty side, but still edible). I did like the banchan here, generous and tasty.
