The staff is always helpful, and my pottery is always ready on time! The atmosphere is relaxing, and it’s a great, fairly inexpensive place to paint!

I found this place just this year and have already gone several times. My best friend and I were looking for a paint your own pottery place and we’re excited to find this place! It is a great place to get creative without having to make the investment of buying everything you may only use once or twice. The staff has been stellar every time I have gone in — helpful but not too in your face. I also want to weigh in on what a lot of reviewers have said about it being pricey. I strongly disagree. The price of each piece includes using all the materials and all the paint you want, as well as them firing it. I a really surprised other reviewers are saying it’s pricey — I would say the opposite: it’s a great deal!

I absolutely love this place and can’t wait to go back! The fact that they have pottery and coffee, stained glass and BYOB wine nights and tons of space is just amazing!!! They have a such a huge variety of ceramics that you can come in here with a set project ready to go or just come in on a whim. Looking for a one day date night idea? You can paint wine glasses and take them home as soon as they dry! No firing needed at all. But if you do need something fired, it’s only a one week wait period so that’s not too bad. Did I mention they have a coffee bar? They also make fun smoothie drinks and have tons of non coffee selections! And don’t forget the BYOB ladies nights — 20% off pottery and 10% off stained glass, what a deal! The only downfall is getting in and out of the parking lot… it’s right on 40 so there’s a lot of traffic. Just be safe coming in and out! If you’re there when Meghan the owner is in then you are in for a treat! She is so enthusiastic about the work and the projects she really helps you with everything you need and does it with a huge smile! So grateful that she was there to help us out!

I have a good time here, but I do wish that the staff were more helpful sometimes. Also it’s pretty pricey, and I don’t like painting pottery THAT much.

This is an interactive date night with your girlfriends or your man. This is definitely a very unique concept in the Ellicott City area. I have been to pottery painting shops larger and better than this one. However, this shop is the only one that I really know of in this area. It’s a place where your inner child let’s lose. It is a fun, silly and unique way to spend some quality time with those you love. This is how the shop works. 1.) you walk into the store and you decide if you want to paint pottery, glass, handmade glass objects or hand-make Jewelry 2.) you create!!! 3.) you checkout. It’s very simple and the staff is always there to help. They are eager and excited about what they do. I decided to paint pottery. On average, the objects range from 20 to 30 $. There are no objects under the 20 $ price range, unless you want to paint a miniature sized trinket/object… The staff explains everything to you. That way you know what you need to do. They make great suggestions and they also make sure you know about all your painting options. I recommend you paint at least three layers on your object of choice. That way the colors you pick look more vibrant. The lace application that you see in my first two Unilocal review photos are an additional 2 $ charge. I suggest you bring your own desired lace because their selection of lace is somewhat limited.

This is a super place– Great for bringing the kids, great for a Girl’s Night Out, great for a date with the hubby. The coffee bar is good(and has some nice cold drinks for the kids) and the selection is fun. Overall great vibe!

They have a huge selection of items to paint from and service is super friendly. The workers set-up your area and throughly take you through the process. Great place to go with friends to chit chat, while painting!

I went to the Pottery Stop and Coffee Shop on a Sunday afternoon, and found the place to be buzzing with lots of adults and kids. My big disappointment was the prices for their pieces – this place is outrageously expensive! I have been to All Fired Up in DC and the Clay Bakers in Annapolis, MD and was shocked at the up-charge on the pottery being sold by the Pottery Stop. Both All Fired Up and Clay Bakers similar to the Pottery Stop do all-inclusive pricing with no hidden charges, so I wasn’t sure why the Pottery Stop was charging at least 50% more on their pieces. The parking lot is small with spaces shared among several stores. Like All Fired Up and Clay Bakers, the Pottery Stop allows you to bring in food and drinks even though they have a coffee store on-premise.

I came here by myself for a nice relaxing day of painting and got exactly what I wanted, even with parties of kids around! The employees are incredibly helpful and very nice. I loved everything about this place. The coffee bar was tasty and quick! I can’t wait to go back!

Not only is it an activity, there’s caffeine too! We came here for a nice date on a Saturday afternoon and really enjoyed it. Of course we started with ordering two espresso based beverages and walked around looking at all the things we could paint. So many crafts. A bit pricey for us to each have a decently sized item, so we decided to work on a dog bowl together. The bowl was $ 30 but included everything you might need for it, all inclusive. A staff member set us up with water, plates, sponges and gave us ‘the rundown’ about where everything was and how to successfully produce an item. Our dog bowl is freakin adorable by the way, and I will post picture of it once we pick it up next week.

This place is normally very friendly and helpful. However, our last experience picking up pottery was miserable. Jasmine who was behind the counter began by ignoring my wife as she was standing in line. Next Jasmine had extreme difficulty finding my wife and children’s projects. Then she said that she took her number and said that she would call her back. Since they were about to close we came back, and my wife pushed them to look again. When Jasmine was reluctant to help, my wife offered to help to look. When she was looking another attendant found them. My wife was mildly annoyed by the experience until Jasmine made it worse by making extremely rude comment to my wife. In this world of customer service, this behavior is unacceptable. We spend a lot of money there, and this rude person almost ruined the entire experience. That is why it gets 3 stars instead of 5.

We had a great time! I painted a travel mug and saw the couple next to us enjoying wine! If I’d have known it wasn’t just a «special occasion» thing we would’ve done the same :) Very fun, very friendly staff and about $ 25 all fired total

Pottery stop is a perfect example of what happens when you hire friendly, competent people who care about the business they work in. Everyone in this place from the owner to the manager(Megan) and the rest of the staff are super awesome. That’s part of the reason why we try and make a visit at least once a week. this establishment makes an effort to make the customers experience a positive one. And they go above and beyond to help you in anyway possible. Because this is such a huge place you never feel like your sitting on top of someone and whenever we go inside it’s never jammed packed with kids. I love the little ones but not when their making loud noise in my ears as im trying to get my art on!!! But of course this is a great activity for the little ones and ill be sure to bring my kids into pottery stop when i have them. From what I can tell kids birthdays are kept separate from the main room and this makes pottery stop not only fun but relaxing fornadults. The added coffee shop is a huge perk and the fact that there’s a a burrito joint next store really makes pottery store a one stop shop for all your dietary and artistic needs. On a side note I’ve seen some reviewers comment on the pricing here. Considering the sticker price on each item includes materials, instruction(if needed) and unlimited time to work on your piece… I’d say this is a stellar deal.

I took both of the munchkins here last Saturday to make a few things for Christmas presents for some of the luckier folks in our life. While I’ve only checked in once, the little ones have been here at least 4 times over the last few months. This place has a great creative vibe and is a fantastic place to enjoy an afternoon with friends or family while letting your creative juices flow. It was crowded, but buzzing with energy, not uncomfortable. The staff was also very friendly and that only added to the mellow vibe of the place. I’m not gonna lie to you here, it’s a bit pricey. If you’re simply looking for«dishes» I’m sure you can get a better deal at a regular old store. But the Pottery Stop isn’t really about that. It’s about creating something. I’m really looking forward to picking up what the kids made next Saturday(it takes a week to get your stuff pottery or glass jewelry fired). As one more bonus the place is totally independent, not a franchise, but a real honest-to-goodness independent small business. The Pottery Stop was a great time out with the family I’m sure we’ll be back to make some more custom dishware. Plus… I haven’t tried the coffee yet.

I’ve been here twice and both were really great experiences. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the instructions they give are easy to understand and follow. If you have any questions, they’ll do their best to help you — and they’ll even help you with the artwork on your mug if you need it(with tracing letters, showing you coloring techniques, etc). Also, try their drinks! I’ve had both their chai and green tea crème smoothies and both were delicious. All in all, a good way to waste an afternoon(and end up with a pretty finished product a week later once it’s been fired)! My only concern is parking, because it’s crowded but I’ve always been able to find a spot so I guess it’s not TOO bad.

I was invited to a girl’s night of pottery painting. Well, I got to bring my own bottle of wine and food, so I was down! This was my first experience at a place like this. First, the parking SUCKS! Good luck trying to find a spot anywhere near the store in the evening. They have lots of pottery options and I thought the pricing was very reasonable. For newbies like me, the painting and glazing options are overwhelming to say the least. I suggest you think about your design before you come in or you will spend an hour just looking at options. I chose an ice cream bowl and sat down with the girls and got to work. It wasn’t messy at all. I didn’t have to clean up after myself. We sat at our table drinking wine and munching on the food we brought. Next thing I know, Its 4 hours later! I had a great time. Total price: $ 12.90(not counting my wine and food of course). This is a great idea for something fun and different to do with your kids or a group of friends. No one bothers you, but are there to answer your questions and help with anything you need. Check their website for different promotions and special nights. I could see myself bringing my child(when I have one) here during the day as a fun thing to do on a rainy day. Its well worth the price for a few hours of fun. I pick my piece up in a week(they fire it for you). I’ll update then.
