Called ahead for a appetizer, was told 5 minutes. Arrived at five minute mark the girl came out, took our credit card and said it would be ready in another minute. Waited 20 minutes as we watched multiple cars pull up and receive their food! Finally called the manager from the car and asked for money back, miraculously the waitress showed up with the food and said«it’s on us» won’t be returning to this outback!

I don’t understand why this place has mediocre reviews. It’s the same food and same décor as all the other Outback’s. The service is typical. The food is always good! The place is clean. It’s not 5 stars but neither are the prices.

We were celebrating my daughters birthday and our 49th anniversary. There were six of us and we called a couple of hours ahead of time to make a reservation. We requested that we have a table, not a booth. I’m old, find their booths painful after about 20 minutes and claustrophobic to boot. We arrived a few minutes early, on a Sunday evening, to a restaurant that less than half full. My daughter told the hostess who we were and she promptly tried to seat us in a booth. My daughter explained that we had specifically asked for a table. She informed us that all the tables were gone, but that she would get the manager. The manager did not show up, and lacking any other ideas of where to go nearby for my daughters birthday prime rib, I conceded that I would sit in the booth as long as I had the outside seat. The manager appeared again, apologizing and explained that they had some tables set aside for us, but another couple came in just before us and didn’t like where they were sitting and requested one of our tables and they were allowed to move. She offered us a free app to make amends. We then waited for some time for our server to show up and take drink orders. The two non alcoholic bevs came fairly fast. The rest of us waited for about 10 minutes and our server came back, without the drinks to take our food order. By this time my legs and back were cramping and I was getting more and more uncomfortable. I asked where our drinks were and he scuttled off and didn’t return for another 5 or more minutes. He then took the food orders. I ordered prime rib medium rare, daughter ordered prime rib medium, one person just had the offered app, the chicken wings, another ordered a small steak, and my husband ordered an add on crab cake for his meal. 20 or 30 minutes later, the food finally appeared. My prime rib was cooked correctly, my daughters prime rib was cooked about right, maybe a bit rarer than she would have liked, but it was stone cold, the person ordering the steak received a curled up hockey puck. Our server never returned to ask how things were. I asked a passing hostess to find him and she didn’t. I then asked another passing server to find him and eventually he showed up. By this time everyone is pretty well done eating and the one with the hockey puck steak is still sitting there. We explained and he offered to have another one fired. That offer was refused, and then another visit from a manager,(a different one this time) to offer free desserts. My back was not going to wait another 30 minutes for someone to get the desserts, so they boxed a few up and brought them out with the check. Needless to say, we will not be returning here any time soon. We have been dining here off and on for about 30 years and the last few years, the results have at times been less than stellar. But nothing like this. Happy birthday and anniversary to us! Yea! I think I would rather have major surgery than sit in one of their booths with 5 other people ever again.

well it was a Saturday night, had a 30 minute wait and expected that since we called ahead. but it had been 6 years since I’ve been to this restaurant, just due to the fact on how bad it was the last time I went. at least I know now that they are very very consistent. took over 50 minutes to get our food, and the steaks are dry and cold. 1 got a Cobb salad that was warm with the blue cheese dressing separating from in the oil and cheese. the food was about as appetizing as cat crap. the manager did take possession of the problem, but we did advise them that they work harder not to do business. congratulations to Outback steaks sales prevention department. a lady at another table asking«do I have to send smoke signals to get my food.» are we kidding here ! really looking for this location to turn into a barbecue restaurant.

Great steak, Lamb, & salmon. Great appetizers such as Coconut Shrimp & Bloomin Onion. Bread is awesome. In ten yrs of dining in our home town or when traveling in the western U.S., my wife & I have always had a delightful dining experience.

Nice, laid back restaurant. Follows suit of the others in the chain. Got a classic blooming onion and then the shrimp skewers. All in all no major complaints. Wasn’t busy and staff was very attentive.

Food and service was good. However, the managers were seated near us. Not good to discuss every employee problem so your customers can hear. Take it somewhere else. Update 1. Apparently employees steal steaks and hide them in the trash. Update 2. Who knew Outback soup came in bags? And cut cut cut hours!

It depends on who’s cooking. Some nights our steaks are great, some nights we have to send it back. The staff is friendly and accomodating. We enjoy their carryout, it’s usually always good and accurate.

My wife and I became Outback«Groupies» after we got married many years ago. We have dined at Outback for the past 25 yrs many, MANY times! The food(recipe!) is great, the service is usually great and we would go into a coma if we couldn’t get their Ranch dressing to dip our cheese fries. The recipes are GREAT! Their chef’s did an unbelievable job creating dishes and condiments that have stood the test of time. The problem is this Ellisville location has done nothing but slide down hill on mainly food presentation/preparations. We got a small take-away order tonight and was disappointed with many things. The salad I received was by far the most pathetic attempt they have ever tried to pass off as a salad. My salad made me laugh, yet my wife’s was normal? Here comes a weird«complaint» we had… are you ready… way to much cheese on their cheese fries. YES, you might ask, how do you complain about to much cheese? but they had cheese to the point of insanity! We got two orders and the other was normal. There had to be close to ½ lb of cheese on the fries. ½″ cheese melted around the edge of the foil container. The first bite WOWCHEESY! The second bite was basically taking me to the limit of cheese overload. The third bite was the last bite I took, just to much cheese. The Alice Springs Quesadilla was great, but they gave us a less than half full little plastic portion of honey mustard that didn’t make it past the second piece… even though we had asked for extra when we ordered. The table service is usually good, the food coming out of the kitchen is the problem. I won’t eat steak at this location at all. To many poorly cooked steaks!!! I wish this wasn’t our closest location. We also NEVER take guests to this location… I have had to many issues with burnt, overcooked, undercooked and just slopped together dishes. I feel as though they are holding great recipes hostage!

Outback is Outback… What do you expect? But this happen to be the best one in St Louis. There’s actually a manager walking around greeting people. He’s very friendly, and open the door for us. Excellent service. Two thumbs up!

Consistently good service. We always come with our kids and can be ‘high maintenance’ and the servers do an excellent job getting their food out fast, drinks refilled and mentioning d-e-s-s-e-r-t in code in case we need to pass.

My husband & I had a surprisingly good experience here. The food was delicious. While the Bloomin’ Onion could have been a little better(not sure if it was just too greasy or if there was too much batter), it was still delicious. Mr. B is obsessed with the sauce they serve with it. His steak & shrimp were amazing, and my burger on a brioche bun was probably the best restaurant burger I’ve ever had — especially considering that I had it later that night, reheated in the microwave. The fries were very salty but yummy. The only hiccup we experienced was my burger being served medium-rare when I requested well-done. I cut it in half out of habit and noticed, so we called over our waitress. I showed her the burger and said it wasn’t cooked properly. She simply agreed, apologized, and offered me soup while I waited for the new burger to come out. I declined(full from the bread and onion) and voiced that I wasn’t sure I even wanted it after the appetizers… My husband insisted(thank goodness because those leftovers were A-MAZ-ING), so we waited on the burger. The manager came over and apologized as well, and he offered soup or salad while waiting for the burger. He personally brought the bag with the burger in it to our table, and he made sure that the burger/bread/cheese were packaged with the lettuce/onion/sauce on the side so it wouldn’t get soggy. It was the best service we’ve seen in a very long time! We really appreciated that the issue was handled so professionally, without the theatrics that you normally face when you return something in a restaurant(excessive apologies, OH I’M SOSORRYYYY, etc). The waitress apologized and agreed that it wasn’t cooked properly, and handled it right away. I recommend this location wholeheartedly!

We have been coming to this location for over 10 years. While Outback isn’t everything it used to be they still fill a good niche. If you are looking for a nice sit down dinner with a variety on the menu this is not a bad choice. Service is always good, comfortable seating and reasonable portions. The steaks they used to be known for have gotten smaller and more expensive although tastier due to new preparation techniques. Salads with the meals have shrunk dramatically as of late and the Caesar isn’t what it used to be but the bread is still great. This location is always clean and plenty of seating so that waits are reasonable. Curb side take out is a fast convenient option and if you want to get a steak but eat at home this is the place. Always be clear how you expect your steak to be cooked since their temps are slightly different than other steak places. As always we enjoy our visits here it just seems that portions continue to shrink while prices continue to climb.

Evening started off with limited drink select do to no C02. My wife and son order from the limited drinks available and I decided to order a fosters. Soda’s were fine, fosters was very warm. I should have asked for another one but failed to mention it. My son ordered the kids burger and fries. Fries were salted several times too many. You could literally shake the salt off them. Seems unlikely this was done by accident given the volume of salt but I have no other explanation. My son’s burger was burned completely black one one side and was not edible. We sent the whole thing back and and while the returned dinner wasn’t burned, my son ate only a bite or two because it didn’t taste good. I ordered the outback special medium with shrimp on the barbie. Steak showed up well done and the shrimp never showed up. Disappointing experience overall. Disappointed because I typically like outback but I won’t be returning anytime soon. $ 70 is too much to spend for this kind of meal.

Haven’t been to this Outback for a few months and I must say I was mildly disappointed. Food was okay, service was excellent, but the portions continue to get smaller and smaller. They’ve also adjusted their pricing to charge extra for some of their formerly included salads. This restaurant used to be a decent value, but it seems to be falling out of that range. There are many other places to get comparable food at a more reasonable price.

I’ve been here numerous times and they are very consistent when it comes to food and service. The food is really good, steaks, seafood and even rack of lamb. The décor fits the Australian theme, fun and inviting. You are always greeted at the door with a friendly face and a smile which is always nice. It’s also a smoke-free restaurant, which I think is a great idea, no choking on drifting cigarette smoke while trying to enjoy a good dinner. Great place for an after work drink or just a night out with a date.

Decided to head back to Outback after my last debacle with Longhorn. Last time I was here food was good as well as the service. Went in on a weekday evening, place was busy but not too bad. Service was quick and really friendly. Food came out quick and hot. Food tasted fresh and was cooked as we ordered it. Kudos to our waitress for not serving a clearly intoxicated woman who got sat next to us. Maybe it was her dropping the f-bomb or the clearly racist ‘white girl wasted’ comment made to the waitress, whatever the reason kudos for not adding to a problem. In fact after that encounter, the manager even stopped by the table to check on us. We bid our waitress good luck and will return there in the future.

My first time back to Outback in 13 years. I have never been that impressed with the Outback chain vs. the Longhorn and Texas Roadhouse chains. I recently dined at this Outback with some friends that required«Gluten Free» items. Outback accommodates such a request. The Caesar Salad and Rib-eye steak I had was good but not expectational. Service was fair. Our waiter seemed pre-occupied and my water at our table ran low way more than I’m accustom to. One of the most frustrating things was the booth we were in. The old and limited padding on our seats made my Gluteus maximus numb and very uncomfortable. I guess for some people Outback is an acquired taste but for me I’ll stick with Texas Roadhouse and Longhorn anytime.
