Excellent taste, fresh quality food. But sometimes you can taste that the meat is not the freshest. Still a great small place and a lot of great service.

Don’t order for delivery when is a big order. They get confused and they deliver the wrong ones and on top of that miss the order. When I called back they only said they did put the order. I will never play for 2 empanadas omg! I paid almost 40 dollars do you think I’m going to play for 2…

I think everyone’s favorite words to describe food are cheap and delicious. You really can’t hate empanadas unless you hate fried foods. I’ve been coming to this location when the prices of some empanadas were still $ 1. The prices have increased, but only by 25 cents more. It’s much cheaper than the location across from Queens Center Mall! I recommend: Empanadas: Broccoli & Cheese Hawaiian Caramel & Cheese:(must tryyyyy) Eat it while it’s still hot though. It’s a hit or miss, but if you like caramel and cheese separately, I promise the combination works!!! Sauces: GREEN — it’s a little spicy but goes really well with all of the salty empanadas. I know a lot of people get the beef and potatoes, but I avoid it because the beef they use aren’t from the best parts. I’ve had several times when I’ve gotten some tendons. If you have a somewhat small-normal appetite, I’d recommend ordering 2 empanadas(AND the caramel & cheese bc you ALWAYS have room for desserts) &3 empanadas if you have a normal appetite. It does take some time to make, about 10 – 15 minutes? So if you’re in a rush, call ahead. Also, they have bar styled seating & so meant for customers to eat & go.

Went here to buy some empanadas for Christmas potluck. I was so happy I found it… through Unilocal! I ordered chicken and beef empanada and both were good. I had them in corn flour and I regret that, I should have gotten them in wheat. Now I know. I love how there was so much filling in them. Both chicken and beef had a m ix of veggies and I think potatoes in them. This makes them extra filling as well. I also got the Hawaiian empanada and that was my favorite. It had lots of cheese! It was the first one I ate actually so everything was just oozing out of the dough. It had the pineapple and ham of course. The best part about all this is that it cost 1.25! I ordered a bunch and my bill was around 40 something dollars. All the ones I got were the recommended ones by the way. I asked the guy which ones they were and I went for it. Will definitely return!

We were looking for something quick and cheap to grab on our way home. We had passed Mama’s several times and there’s a few locations, but this one is the«original» location. There is no shortage of places to find great food in this neighborhood and I’d reckon you could find exceptional empanadas at many of the restaurants around here, but Mama’s advertises as empanadas and we are empanada fiends. That being said, they were good, but nothing outrageous. By far the best thing about the place is how cheap it is. Eat them hot and don’t judge based on the pictures as they don’t do them justice. Go with your gut, or what it’s willing to tolerate.

Empanadas are very cheap at this place. They are around $ 1.25 for beef and chicken. $ 1.5 for cheese. They taste really good for their cheap prices. Their green sauces are great to go with the empanadas. They only offer one sauce per two empanadas. Also, they are open 24 hours on Saturday and Sundays. Worth coming for this place if your are on budget.

The cheeseburger(wheat) empanada was amazing, eat them while they are hot. The food was pretty good, decent prices but the customer service doesn’t exist there, at all. They shout your number and if you don’t jump up immediately and run to the counter they start barking at you! The 2 guys behind the counter were serving up some bad attitude. There was some kind of altercation between a customer and an employee. The customer was telling the tall kid working behind the counter he was being disrespectful/rude ect. The kid replied why get the f*** out and don’t ever come back. Which just added fuel to the fire, they were shouting cursing in front of children, the mother said«respect children» One couple with a new born baby waiting for food, walked outside for safety! It was ridiculous, be professional. The place is a little small, little dirty, small trash left around. Bar countertops and stools line the walls and front window.

Wow! In 28 years I have NEVER received the poor customer service I had when going here. I come here a lot. at least twice a week for the last two years and today I’m not sure who the young man thinks he is working on Sept 11,15 but he was anything how a manger should speak to a customer let alone a repeat one. Without going into detail he needs to learn respect because there are a million other restaurants on Roosevelt and 37ave where I can take my business I dont have to eat at a chain restaurant and I won’t. There are plenty of other empandas places and when these lack flavor and good service that’s a big problem. The empanadas have no Flavor you must drench them in salsa the counters are always dirty and the garbage can over flowing. Don’t waste your time of money in here and go else where.

Picked up some empanadas for a trip to Coney Island and these empanadas were bomb! I got the cheese and the chicken empanada. The cheese was so delicious – however, the entire thing is filled with cheese so it may not be for those who don’t like so much cheese at once haha! But the chicken was also delicious. Will be back for some more and so happy this place was recommended to me!

I wasn’t impressed by this place. It is confusing to figure out what to order since there are so many types to choose from. The guys at the counter aren’t very helpful. I ended up ordering a bunch of different kinds of empanadas(chicken, beef, pork) and an arepa and I found them to be greasy and very salty. There are tons of other places on Roosevelt Ave that sell much better empanadas.

This was my first time coming here and it didn’t disappoint. Amazing food and great price. I got the cheeseburger, pepperoni pizza and the beef empanadas. Would come back again and again. Does get a little crowded at lunchtime but what do you except with food this good.

A decent place for a quick and cheap lunch. The empanadas are crispy and very tasty, and even better with their hot sauce. The soups are less good but still OK.

I’ve been coming to Mama’s for going on 5 years now. I’ve been to 2 locations, the other being Astoria near 30th Ave. I always order the Cheesesteak, Greek, Biagra(Crab & shrimp). All delicious. I have taken people here who have never had Empanadas and they were blown away. I love that they are cooked when ordered. They aren’t sitting around for an hour and stale. Each Empanada is filled generously with meat, cheese and whatever your flavor. Warm, crisp, fresh and never too hot to the point where you burn your tongue. I have also ordered the Hen Soup here that is delicious and the best way to beat a cold. I love colombian food and this place is just a blessing. The green sauce rules, the red is more zesty with vinegar. The pink sauce is simple mayo and ketchup. For each under $ 2 you can’t ever do better.

Loving the corn empanadas! the chicken and beef empanadas are to die for. They have corn and yucca empanadas. They also have dessert empanadas like guava with cheese and sweet plaintain. I had the beef corn empanada and my bf had the chicken corn empanadas they both were really good!

Great place for cheap eats. Each empanada is between $ 1 and $ 2. They have a huge variety! The corn empanadas have a crisper shell and are usually lava hot in the middle. The wheat empanadas have a softer shell and are usually the less traditional fillings. My favorites are the basics, the steak and the chicken. The fancy flavored empanadas are good too, but I’m a purist.
