First time I’ve ever had a Chicago dog. Very good. I’m a fan. Granted, it is still fast food. But I would come back again. The sport peppers are very tasty

We frequent the Nana’s drive-thru quite frequently. My son loves the pizza there — its a huge slice. The hot dogs with their fresh cut fries are really good also. The service is excellent, I have yet to come across a single rude employee. The staff is friendly and helpful. I was in there one day in the summer and I placed my irder and the cashier recommended the combo so that I would save a couple dollars. You dont see much of that these days! The place is what it is and for that the food is pretty good!

Wife and I stopped in yesterday. I must say«not impressed» just an average dog and beef sandwich had no taste to it. All I tasted was lots of salt and black pepper in the beef had No garlic, Oregano. … French fryers was the only thing we ate that was good… Gave it a try and it will be the last visit for me… Sorry guys

At best Nana’s is okay. They may be related to Gene and Jude’s but they’re not Gene and Jude’s. I live in Elmhurst so I wanted them to wow me but they didn’t. In several visits they’re dogs are okay but nothing to go out of your way for. Their beefs are dry meat and apparently they don’t get what a soaked bun means. And that really got me was I ordered dog and didn’t want the fries. They charged me the same price. I’m sorry but $ 3.99 for a hot dog with nothing else. Get over yourselves. I’ll probably just stick to Portillos.

Updated — have brought my family twice, and all members love it. Clean shop. Seems to have a steady flow of customers now. Great place for hungry boys and even mama likes it. Staff is friendly.

Slow slow slow… Watched my double dog sit out for 5 minutes before they even put fries on it. Then I watched the gentleman who was making shakes use his hands to take the ice cream off of the scoop and put in the blender. Obviously health code is not followed here. Have tried this place 3 times now and either the service has been slow or the buns have been hard. Not recommended!

I made my 4th visit on Saturday after a trip to the zoo with my niece and 2 of my godchildren. I’ve had almost everything on the menu by now. My favorites are burgers, fries, hot dogs, and Italian beef. Oh! Also the bakery fresh desserts. My girlfriend loves their salads. The kids all enjoyed their meals. My five star rating is not in the category of fine dining downtown. It’s rated against other family owned or chain fast food restaurants. I highly recommend this great food while being treated wonderfully by a caring staff.

Clean, friendly, fabulous food. This Hot dog stand far out-classes the other Hot dog stand that just opened in Elmhurst and I can easily say that Nana’s will be a regular part of my lunch rotation. It has a warm, family feeling about it that not only makes the food taste better but makes you feel good about dropping a dime on a nice dog!

Been visiting Nana’s since they were located on Lake Street in Addison. I stopped by on the way home from work because it’s more convenient than waiting in a line at Gene’s & Jude’s in River grove for a simple«No Frills» Hotdog. Nana’s Owners are related to the owners of Gene’s and Jude’s and they use the same formula for a hotdog. Fries are fresh cut and pretty good if you get them cooked fresh and hot.(If you let them cool off they get hard and you may not like them.) They could be salted more so they have more flavor, but I suppose people that can’t have salt will enjoy the plain potato and grease taste without salt. Their Hotdogs are OK. Don’t expect a real«Chicago Style Hotdog» here because just like Gene’s and Jude’s you get a plain bun, thin hotdog, relish, diced onions and mustard on it.(No Tomato Slice, No Pickle Spear or any of the other condiments real Chicago Style Dogs have. I’ve even seen them with Cucumbers and even Sauerkraut on them from Hotdog Trucks in the City)
If you want a real Chicago Style Dog, try«Pop’s Place» on Grand Ave. & Thatcher Ave. in River Grove. You will get a Hotdog that is loaded with toppings, nice Poppy Seed Bun and a real enjoyment to eat. I’ll continue to bring Nana’s food home occasionally because they are still alright once in awhile.

I would not go out of my way to return to Nana’s as their food is pretty much your typical fast food place. But if you are in the area and just want a quick hot dog or italian beef, this is the place. Staff was very friendly. Food was fine. We had hot dogs, italian beefs and fries. Everything was good. Pretty average as far as fast food goes.

In the spirit of true Chicago-style, Nana’s does hit the mark. Their selection is legit. However, their quality is inconsistent and their pricing is higher than what you’d expect. So far I’ve tried them a few times and have had a very mixed experience. The hot dogs, very much not up to par. Burgers, surprisingly pretty great. Italian Beef, stringy and fatty. I give them the benefit of the doubt, may have just been an off day here and there. Overall the food isn’t all that great and the pricing is again a bit higher than the worth. But if you’re in the area and looking for something that will suffice, Nana’s isn’t a bad choice.

This place is the former Nana’s on Lake Street in Addison(closed years ago). They just moved to Elmhurst. Just passing this on… yes, it is the same family of owners of Gene & Jude’s peeps! So if it smells, tastes and resembles Gene & Judes dogs… you know the rest…

A hot dog is a hot dog and nothing really special. This place moved down the street from Addison foursome reason as it was by the movie theatre .The Italian beef was stringy and dry very disappointing as likely is the rest of the menu. He service was horrible as the older lady was very much a grouch and unfriendly. Nothing special ere and it is what it is a suburban boring hotdog stand

A renewed Chicago classic. Nana’s knocks it out of the park with their food, service, and ambiance. This restaurant has great vibes and a friendly staff. I had their Italian Beef today with hot peppers and it was done just right — perfect amount of moisture and zest. I remember my parents used to talk about Nana’s back in the day and I’m very happy to see this new location. Highly recommend it to anyone in the neighborhood or catering for an event. Enjoy!

Nana’s hot dogs are pretty good. Like a poor man’s gene and judes, which is NOT an insult. Their beef is decent but not the best I’ve ever had. The service was good too. 8⁄10 B+. Would go back.

Boom. Here we go. I hate, hate, hate leaving low reviews for businesses. I know how hard it is to run one but I have to accurately report my experience. This review is solely based on their hot dogs. I did not try any of their other items. Stopped here to pick up some hot dogs. My fries were cold and tasted like they had been sitting around. Tossed them out after trying a few. Maybe they’re good when they’re hot because I did see them putting some potatoes through that fry cutting thingy while waiting for my order but I definitely did not get any of those. I also am not a fan of shoving the fries into the hot dog so the actual hot dog becomes a crumpled mess, but I know some people like it that way. I don’t. Gene + Jude’s can get away with it I guess, but that’s another story. As for the hot dog itself… only fair. The buns had also seen better days. The dog itself just didn’t do it for me. I really like hot dogs. Good hot dogs, and I wanted to like this place since it is near home, but I was disappointed. I have become spoiled by Rand Red Hots. They are the gold standard for me because they’re great and they give it to you hot + fresh every time I’ve been there. Nana’s: Would I give them another try? Maybe, not sure. Cheers to all

I’m a super big fan of Portillo’s but without question Nana’s has the best hot dog in town(especially since Portillo’s switched to that florescent relish). This is the closest I’ve ever had to Gene’s and Jude’s quality. If you haven’t been to Gene’s and Jude’s you’re missing what Rachel Ray voted the best hot dog in the U.S. Nana’s dog would be a very close second. The hot dog and fries come rolled up together. I’ve uploaded a photo. The funny thing is that I always upload a photo of the food, but the first time I visited I was so excited that I ate before I got a picture. I took a picture of my friend’s half eaten dog. But, uploading pictures of half eaten food is kind of gross. Anyway, I really didn’t want to post that, so I went back a week later and got another hot dog just so I could take the picture. Honestly, I was happy to go back. In terms of the restaurant itself, there is very limited seating and no stand up counter. However, they have two advantages over G’s & J’s. One, they have ketchup(for the fries of course — not the dog — I’m not a barbarian) and two, they have a toilet. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Follow me on Unilocal
