I live nearby and eat here every few weeks. Like others said, it’s the standard Subway menu. I usually get the Italian BMT. Very occasionally something will be wrong with my sandwich, like the lettuce is old and bitter, or the bread stale and going hard around the edges. I too have seen some of the unprofessional behavior that other reviewers describe. I think it tends to center on a few individuals. E.g., there is one older lady who clearly is not happy to be working there — and I imagine she is the one that features in several reviews. I’m guessing it’s family-owned, and she’s a family member who really doesn’t like it? As a positive example, there’s also a younger lady I encountered recently who was super friendly and welcoming. So customer service varies. Oftentimes there seems to be only one person on duty, but I’ve never had more than one or two people ahead of me, so I haven’t had to wait long. I’m a little concerned by the reviews that mention cleanliness, and yet somehow not that surprised, though I haven’t seen some of the behaviors described. I have observed them always putting on gloves before they make my sandwich, which is reassuring, but maybe I’ll keep a closer eye out for cross-contamination, and be a little more careful about examining my sandwich ingredients, making sure they’re fresh.

This subway is a complete disgrace. I’m ok with employees chatting on the phone but the lady yelling loudly in East Indian while fixing sandwiches is plan rude and unsanitary. She was on her cellphone the whole entire time talking super loud and laughing like she had no care in the world. Then while we were eating she actually coughed up a loogie and spit in the back(which we heard her do) that was the most disgusting thing I’ve heard in any restaurant. Thumbs down

I aways forget why i don’t like this location. and after last night I made a permanent note on why i will never return. I ordered a sandwich way before closing time and then wanted to sit down because i was so hungry. It’s not like i was going to go beyond closing time. just one freaking bite! Anyways, the woman said they were closed. But I pointed out that it was only 7:35 and they close at 8. Then she was like we close at 7:50.so not only is she rude she can’t tell time. I’m not sure if the franchise owner approves of this but she is hurting their business. Secondly, I’m trying to save on my calories and prefer drinking unsweetened ice tea. which they never have! Other locations always have that tank thing. This lady is so lazy!

I almost never write reviews but I had to for this place. The service here is horrible. I went on a Saturday afternoon. The place was very slow and there was one employee working. Older woman. She was on her personal cell phone the entire time. I know it was a personal call because not only was she on a cell but she was speaking some foreign language the whole time. She did not ask what I wanted but pointed to the menu above her. She didn’t even ask what bread I wanted but pointed to the bread selection sticker. I ordered a foot long, she didn’t offer to even cut it in half. And then, after I paid for my order and was headed out the door, she sneezed into her hands and did not wash them. Horrible horrible service. It’s a standard subway otherwise but not worth the bother. AVOID this place.

Stupid fucking bitch working there, would not put the phone down to take an order. Obviously a personal call, jabbering away in her foreign tongue, all the while having to repeat over and over the simple order. Sandwiches looked like they were made by 3rd grader.

Pros — Standard subway fare. Cons — A little bit on the slow side This is your regular subway. The ladies are a little slow but are extremely nice and friendly. There aren’t many options in Emeryville, especially on this side of the freeway. I find it to be a nice change of pace from the Watergate market.

i was in this location the other day, and i was truly disgusted with their lack of sanitation. i had ordered my sandwich and the person making my food touched his and realized hi did not have his hat. he stopped and retrieved his hat and put it on, and resumed making my order. he did not wash his hands or change his gloves. i told him to cancal my order and left. the employee did not understand why i had an issue with sanitation and cleanliness. if this is an indication of the cleanliness at this outlet, i will not eat at this location or any other.

The guy currently working there was alone so I waited for im to finish up 2 orders. After what felt like eternity since he was making those breakfast wraps in slow motion, placing each spinach one leaf at a time(GRRRR), he looked at me, didn’t ask what I wanted so I waited some more. After more minutes, he finally asked. I ordered then asked what type of bread do I want, it was not available. How is it not avaliable? I was fuming at the length of time I had to wait. I left. So effin annoying… I hate other folks wasting my time.

Yay! First review! I’m always in the Watergate area because of my friend Sean, I had seen construction for the Subway under way for a few months and presto! It was open and I had no idea! Since it was still July, their promotional sandwich was the Italian BMT, which happens to be my favorite that they have, I ordered it but split it with my friend. I’m giving them 5 stars because they taste no different then the 5 other subways that are in Emeryville. And the staff was very friendly and there was no wait for a sandwich. I still wish there was a real deli in Emeryville, oh well it looks like it might be up to me to make that happen.
