Surf Cleaners

Shrunk my cashmere sweater to doll sized; they must have laundered it on hot.
Gave them my beautiful silk pillows and they came back destroyed (silk ripped everywhere and cushions mutilated) — also seemed like they just stuffed it in the washing machine on hot.
Not good with starch (unless you’re a munster)
Pretty expensive too…
They do not understand fine fabrics is my conclusion and I now use another local cleaner who is much better (Best Cleaners)

I dropped my boyfriends work clothes off here one day while he was out of town. Everything went super smoothly with drop off. I needed to pick up in time for him to go back to work, and they were very accommodating with my turn-​around time request. I picked up the clothing on a Friday afternoon and I felt the pricing was very appropriate. When I picked up his items, they informed me that I had left some items in one of his coat pockets (whoops) but they bagged them up and kept them safe with his stuff for me! I feel like most places those items would have been MIA forever. Pricing was great for the amount of items and quick turnaround. I’ll definitely be brining his and any of my future dry cleaning here in the future! Highly recommended. They even had two parking spots reserved out front (10 minute limit) for pick-​up, which was great for a Friday evening as the 101 starts to get busier!

I’ve had 2 experiences at Surf. One was cleaning a jacket and it came back all pilled up and it was really expensive. Then I had a dress hem taken up here and I had to go back 4 times and they still didn’t get it right. The woman at the counter was a sweetie, but what a mess!

Not super professional. The language barrier almost led me to losing a shirt. They grossly misspelled my name in the computer. Luckily i found my ticket.
Aside from that, the overall quality of the dry cleaning is mediocre.
I like the name and that its close by. For that, I’ll go back…

I have been living in Encinitas since 2006. And I needed to find good cleaner for dry clean and laundry and I found this place.
Price is reasonable and quality is always wonderful. They never let me down.
Owner doesnt speak English very well but they always try to talk and they have been always nice.

Good local business. They will «rush» for you if you need it. And since the cleaning is done at the site, your stuff ISN’T LOST! (a lot of discount cleaners send the clothes off site for processing & routinely lose clothes.) I used to use a different cleaners that is closer to my home: NO MORE! They lost a lot of shirts.
Been using Surf cleaners for 2 years and not one item lost yet.

I am rather ashamed to admit that I have no idea how to iron a shirt. Truth be told, I really don’t want to know either. There are some things I have little time for and, like many busy people, laundry is one of them!
In college my mother gave me a really nice iron. It remained unopened in the box until I found out that you could use to make really tasty grilled cheese sandwiches, steamed vegetables, and to reheat pizza (sorry Mom).
Fast forward 10 years or so and I now have to wear grown up clothes for client and management meetings. We used to go to a really good place in UTC before we moved to North County so I decided to try this place solely because of the COOL name.
It turns out that Surf C. is actually an excellent laundry service /​dry-​cleaners! They give fast, friendly, and insightful service and their prices are not unreasonable when one considers the time, labor, and the eco-​friendly expenses involved in laundry and dry-​cleaning. Over the years I have trusted Surf Cleaners with my Armani and Hugo Boss business suits and my Versace and D&G dress shirts. So far, they have never disappointed!
Each garment comes back perfectly wrapped or packed and they have never made a mistake, knock on wood, in damaging or losing an item. What’s also cool is that, when you bring an item in, they have the time and patience to discuss the quality, care, and price to clean each garment with you so there are no surprises. The price of service is clearly printed on your claim ticket and they do a super efficient job of having your clothes ready when promised!

These guys are decent enough cleaners. You drop off, they clean, you pick up. The after-​hours drop off box is a pretty cool feature. However, what I originally thought might be an awesome service– Fluff-​n-​Fold– turned out to be less than awesome, though really through no fault of Surf Cleaners. I hadn’t done laundry for several weeks because it’s infuriatingly labor intensive, so I brought my giant bag of dirties to Surf. Upon returning for pick-​up a few days later, I received looks of scorn immediately upon walking through the doors. I asked if everything was okay with my order, to which they responded «Ohhhhh, seven bag.» It was $ 103. Maybe outsourcing laundry isn’t the best idea.
