I am so angry with them. Granted I did not purchase eye wear at this store but after my teenage son visited the pediatric ophthalmologist around the corner from them, he stopped in to have his glasses adjusted. The ophthalmologist said my son didn’t need new glasses. His vision hadn’t changed. My son’s glasses were adjusted by heating the arms so they can be easily bent. In the process they overheated the lenses and scratched off the anti reflective coating in them. My son didn’t notice immediately because his eyes were dilated and couldn’t see. When I called after he noticed, I was told they use nothing abrasive to clean and his glasses were probably so dirty he couldn’t see the scratches. Remember, the ophthalmologist just checked his glasses and said the glasses were perfect and didn’t need changing! This optician should know that heating lenses with coatings will damage the lens!!! His glasses were not usable and I had to replace his lenses. Elsewhere of course!

This place is a joke. Overpriced like crazy. They tried to sell me glasses for $ 480 and I got the exact same pair at Serge Optical in Tarzana for $ 180. The two women that work there are total rude cunts. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Everyone at Rubio Optical is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I have a high index lens and it is always difficult for me to find frames that 1) fit my face 2) aren’t too big 3) look good on me and 4) hide the thickness of my lens.
They have a great selection of frames. If you want rimless or semi rimless glasses, they can custom order whatever shape and color you want the lens and frame. It’s really cool! The quality of the workmanship and customer service here is superb. I couldn’t be happier with my new glasses. Thank you Rubio Optical!

I went in to check out my son’s first glasses. I was worried that he may hate having to wear glasses, so I told him he would be able to pick one out himself to get him somewhat excited. When we entered, an older woman greeted us and seemed very welcoming. My son began to pick and try on a couple that he liked. A younger guy came over and literally grabbed the glasses out of my son’s hands and curtly told my son to not touch anything. He was so rude! The prices were so ridiculous as they were more than double the retail value for frames alone! Even if their prices were more reasonable they need to get someone who can provide better customer service than that jerk.

Personal service is number one here!
I’ve been using Rubio Optical for over 20 years getting my Rx glasses filled here. Joel was the first person I met here many years ago, he started the business and later took ill and died. His wife Karen and her assistant Laura continue the business. Recently, I had a problem with a pair of glasses, called them and went to see them for a repair. Unfortunately, they could not be repaired, but, they came up with a solution that exceeded my expectations.
All I can say is this, if you want an optician who will give you an honest assessment for the most appropriate glasses for you, go see them. I don’t think you’ll get this kind of attention from Lenscrafters or any of the big optical shops.
As for the cost of purchasing lenses, sure, they’re all expensive depending upon what you get and want. Glasses are a custom item, especially Rx glasses. They’re made for your eyes. Think about it, how many products and services do you buy that are custom.

Let me start by saying that I have never been spoken to so horribly by a manager. Customer service and making a customer feel good is NOT their strong suit. Their prices are double what other stores charge. They have an excellent location — in the same building as Dr. Friedman, which brought us in. You DO NOT need to spend $ 330.00 on children’s glasses. The frames retail were $ 89.00 (on the rayban site). Please tell me how the lenses cost $ 241.00??? PLEASE, learn from my mistake, do not shop there, you can do much better!

We have been going here for my daughter’s glasses for 16 years. She started wearing glasses when she was 1 ½ years old, so I can attest to the fact that they are great with kids and adults alike. Laura is almost like family to us — she is so very very helpful and so sweet that we look forward to going in for adjustments and especially new glasses. I can’t stress enough how amazing this place is for all your glasses needs. :)

I was having problems with my eyeglasses’ frame that was done by another optical 2 years ago. I went to Rubio’s optical because its across the street where I worked. I met Karen and she repaired my frames even though its not part of their service. She didn’t hesitate to help me even my glasses are from another optical. To top it all she did not charge me. She is very warm and friendly. Months and months later, I needed to have my prescripions updated and to my surprise, my opthamologist highly recommended Rubio Optical. Im so glad I went to this optical. They did a rush on my sunglasses and eyeglasses after knowing that I have to travel within a week. That’s what you call excellent service! I felt I hit a jackpot. Highly recommending this optical.

I have only worked with Laura here to get my 4 year old’s prescription glasses. Although, I am sure everyone is also awesome, Laura was especially outstanding. She has been incredibly patient, kind and knowledgeable. Being the first time dealing with any prescription glasses and especially with a 4 year old, I felt so lucky to have met her. She had a gentle and incredible way in working with kids. I could not recommend her enough!

After being referred by a long time customer, my family and I decided to give Rubio Optical a try immediately following the nightmare we experineced at Lens Crafters. We walked in hoping that we could find new frames for our prescriptions and I truly cannot say enough great things about our experience.
Immediately upon arrival, we were welcomed with a warm and genuine smile into what I would describe as a clean and tidy establishment. Due to the fact that there were several customers already being helped, we were under the initial assumption that we would be waiting for a while. Pleasantly surprised, we were helped right away.
Karen, who modestly introduced herself as the owner, really catered to our family’s somewhat finicky requests. She was extremely patient with us and we did not feel as if we were being sold, similar to what one would be subjected to at a «big box» retailer (cough*Lenscrafters*cough). Ironically, we not only purchased the perfect frames for our prescriptions, but I saw a pair of Carreras that I couldn’t resist buying.
I would highly recommend Rubio Optical to any one who prefers a personable and knowledgeable staff with a great line of products over an establishment where they really do not care… about anything.

One of the best experiences I have ever had. In general I hate going into optical stores just because I feel like I am going to be hounded to buy buy buy or just simply ignored. However, my experience at Rubio was remarkable. They were able to get answers to all my questions, give me the space I needed to find what I was looking for and give me a fantastic price on my amazing new glasses. Thanks Rubio Optical! Van
