Deli On the Cliffs

Remeber when you could get a GOOD sandwich instead of Subway or pre-​made garbage from the supermarket? Not too many places in the Ft. Lee area anymore, so I was sad to see Deli on the Cliffs go out from their old location. I ordered from there in the past and was always satisfied. The new location is kinda tough to spot on Sylvan and the parking is behind and under the building. Make the turn onto Van Nostrand on the PNC Bank side. I got the Italian combo and it was a very good sandwich. Made to order, nice fresh bread, stuffed pretty good, but not a mess, fresh lettuce and tomato, fresh sliced cold cuts. nice balance of ingredients. Very well made and wrapped well (I got it to go).
I think it’s a decent value and well in line with pricing compared to the local bagel shops/​delis. 8 bucks for a good sized sandwich — I could have easily shared half and still been full.

Order from here quite often from work. Food is usually good and hot. Delivery to local offices works well. Too bad they moved to a location that is difficult to park at! Better off calling for delivery.

So I wanted a Deluxe Burger and fries. DELUXE, means with FRIES. I received a burger with coleslaw. Fry machine out of service, I hope my deluxe charged meal goes towards repairs.

This was a great place for a good, dependable lunch. Always busy, but has been dark for months.
They will be missed.

I bought a strawberry parfait this morning and noticed that the strawberry has mold on it. Its beyond disappointment.

Can’t complain. Have had some hi-​cups with this place before such as getting my card number wrong, not answering the phone, bad connection or long wait for delivery BUT the food isn’t too bad and the pricing is as well not too bad. The staff is pleasant as well.

Excelente food and Service.

OK, I have to update my review. On more recent visits, I went in whenever the Korean female was acting as cashier. I didn’t like how she charged me more for my usual order. (Maybe she’s the one the other reviewers were complaining about?) Meh. I took note of this happening two times. And since I’ve discovered another deli closer to work that charges less for the same thing, I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Some things are better than others. It’s definitely a hectic place that caters to a crown of lunch regulars. The specials are usually decent. Egg salad is fantastic. Chicken salad, not so much. Everything is prepared the same way every day though so if you find a favorite its a good affordable lunch option.

DOtC leaves a bad taste in my mouth every time I walk out. The food is fine, the prices are reasonable, but there is something about the service that just isn’t right. I never get greeted with a «Hello», its just someone screaming «Next» in my face. Or how about the fact that unless you get take-​out there is a mandatory table service, which will lead to me paying a tip on 5 dollar hero? Come on. You guys are a deli, nothing more and nothing less. I will continue to go just based on proximity — but I’ll be a bitter little prick about it.

Nice clean deli. Service was fast. The Italian hero was made to order, and was delicious. The potato salad was excellent, but the macaroni salad was disappointing. Not the most amazing deli that I’ve ever been to, but certainly not the worst. Good solid fare.
