My daughter really wanted pancakes Friday night. We called ahead and ordered them. It took about 5 mins to get there. When we arrived her pancakes were ready and were checked out quickly. My daughter really liked the pancakes

It’s a nearby breakfast place and the coffee is good and so are the pancakes, but the wait can be too long. Maybe they’re understaffed.

We walked in and stood around while the staff talked towards the back. We were finally greeted after wandering outside and waiting around for 5 more minutes. VI needs to go back to school for customer service. They are going Bankrupt when all the oldsters pass on.(Just saw a 5 year old girl go into the kitchen to get someone to greet a customer standing around in front.) Pathetic!

My son and I came here on a Saturday evening for pie. We sat down in an empty restaurant and waited about 17 minutes before we walked out. Not a single person came by our table or was in sight. The only person in the whole place was the hostess. We decided not even to order togo pie after we looked around at how filthy the place was. There was food all over the floor. It the front of the house looks this disgusting, I can’t imagine what the kitchen looks like. Very sad since the pie case looked so good. Such a major letdown.

Dear God this place needs some serious help in pretty much every area of a restaurant business. The inside is completely out dated, and not in a hipster charming way. The chairs look dirty & have cracked seats. Thankfully I was sat at a decent booth, but as I looked around to the other tables, all I could do was shake my head. Crumbs all over the floor around an un-sat tables, that also had the chairs kicked out from the table, as well as a few tables with dishes uncleared from customers long gone. This place doesn’t appear to have been busy, nor was it busy enough during my visit to be in such a messy state and to have remained so the whole time I was there! Many things that were out of place shouldn’t take two seconds to straighten up. I’ve eaten at country road truck stop diners in better shape than this place, & this is in a nice neighborhood area just off the Tech Center & Greenwood Village! I just wanted a quick quiet lunch and this place is super close to work to grab a simple grilled cheese & soup without hassle. One table that was sat after me got up and left. When I was being escorted to my table, there was already a menu on it & a setting so it appeared someone had been sat there & had left too. I REALLY didn’t feel like getting into any of the traffic near the interstate or over at Southglenn, & I figured I had a very simple order for lunch to just get on with it. Back to my adventure. It was strangely quiet in there, with maybe 4 other tables of customers, all sat spread out, no background music, so I could hear the kitchen & staff’s conversation super clear. I sat a good bit before the waitress greeted me, but she was very nice and acknowledged she was delayed politely. She noticed my iPad and commented that she didn’t think the wifi worked here which was an added feature I had wanted in coming here. And shortly afterwards I heard the checkout say their credit card system was down. I didn’t see any servers about the floor around the tables so I don’t know if they are actually having to cook in the kitchen as well, but seems hard to timely get drinks out, orders taken, pay attention to your customers needs, etc if you aren’t any where near your tables… ever. Several tables were covered in plates and dishes just sitting around as I guess they figure they aren’t going to be busy and don’t need to bother clearing the tables once customers left and could just sit them at another empty table so that they had more to clean up at some point. I saw a table sit with plates on it almost the entire time I was there & not ONCE did I see a single person wipe down a table. I watched a hostess walk towards a section with dirty tables to try to seat them to say, «oh, let’s try over here». I can’t believe there isn’t a manager out helping take care of that if the wait staff is that bogged down with the 4 tables that were there or even why the hostess can’t help!?! How could a manager just ignore their store being such a mess & not step in?! My food came out relatively quickly(though brought by another person as my server was still MIA), and apparently it came out TOO quickly as my grilled cheese was not thoroughly cooked so that the cheese wasn’t entirely melted with the sandwich moderately warm. I ate it anyway without making it an issue to my server who I didn’t see again until I was half way through it anyways. The tomato basil soup was fine. I did mention it to someone who slightly appeared to be in charge when I checked out & specifically said, «I ate it so it was fine, but I just thought you should know.» My concern would be, if you can’t cook a grilled cheese all the way through, how do you handle cooking meat? And on the note about my checkout, there were TWO employees just sitting at a back booth chatting, who came up to the checkout after I looked around while standing at the counter. I can’t fathom why they weren’t able to help straighten the restaurant up, & I have a sneaky feeling one of them had to be the person that is supposed to be in charge, and if so that person has no business being in charge. I had this as a two star review with one star bump for the servers who I thought were really nice all things considered, and I think the servers were doing the best they could whether from how they have been trained to handle and/or work load, BUT I had to put this back to one star when I saw the two employees just sitting doing nothing with the store such a mess and not busy. If anyone working here thinks this is how a restaurant should operate, they are going to be at a serious disadvantage trying to find work at another establishment. Now that I have had this lovely experience, and see the other reviews, I can’t even fathom how this place can stay open if this is how it is all the time. Someone from VI corporate needs to get in here and clean house in staff and the actual establishment.

I’ve been to this Village Inn a few times and it has been okay. It has gone downhill over the years. We’ve had problems in the past but tonight was the last time I will go to this location. Before we ordered I decided to go to the restroom to wash my hands and when I got in there the restroom was disgusting. The worst part is that it looked like someone had puked in the sink(it was either poop or puke but either way-GROSS). I went out and told the rest of the people I was with and we all agreed to not eat here. We left before we ordered anything. No appetite. If they can’t keep a bathroom clean, that doesn’t look good for the rest of the restaurant. This bathroom doesn’t need an update, it needs to be killed with fire. Just start over… This is my first Unilocal review and I signed up because because this was so gross, I had to let others know.

I was surprised that it was OK. If you find yourself here, like for instance if you are taking a 96-year old to lunch, the chicken pot pie wasn’t bad, and the side salad with blue cheese dressing was actually pretty good.

No way Village Inn. Seriously this was a terrible experience. Yes it was busy and we had to wait. Sunday at 11am is busy and we expected that. When our food came it looked kinda blah. My huevos rancheros were on the cold side. I didn’t say anything until my dads wife complained about hers. Our waitress heated them in the micro wave I suppose. The pumpking pancakes had no flavor of pumpkin. My dad wanted crisp bacon and a crisp waffle. Neither was crisp. My sons cheese on his egg dish was not even melted. This has never been a restauran t suggest but for breakfast you can usually trust the food. I know 6 of us will not return to this location. Shame on you VI.

Let me start by saying that I get it, it is VI, I am not expecting a gourmet meal here. Six of us went to breakfast this morning, and I was psyched for pumpkin pancakes! Pumpkin! Pancakes! Our visit started out just fine… until we got to our coffee. The only resemblance this actually had to coffee was that it was a brown liquid. When our meal came out, there were mutterings all around. Three of our meals were served fresh from the freezer — they were ice cold. Two other meals were lukewarm. Our 90 year old grandpa lucked out and was served a hot waffle. I specifically ordered my egg over hard, so of course, my egg came out somewhere in between over easy and over medium. My two slices of bacon were extra crispy — they got that right on — except for the part where I was supposed to have TWO slices. And while I understand that bacon and fried eggs are not exactly a low cal option, my egg and bacon plate was covered in grease. My pancakes were good, however, they were in no way«pumpkin» save for the color. And this was just my meal. When we went to pay, the hostess asked if we had enjoyed our breakfast. Without launching in to any detail, we simply stated that it hadn’t been great. Their response? «Well, we are busy this morning.» Yup, we feel you VI. Two-thirds occupancy will do that to you.

I visit Village Inn probably once a week and usually visit the same restaurant. However, I wanted to try something new being that my mom was in town and this Village Inn was near her hotel. Host was not friendly and did not even tell us to follow him, he just went to a table and waved us over. We were initially satisfied with the waitress, then she informed us that she was leaving and a waiter would be with us in a moment to take our order. We waited only a few moments to find out that our waiter was a very non-professional staff member. He was not nice, he brought us gross looking and gross tasting food. We asked for straws, he gave us obviously bent ones. Our cups did not get filled once, we had to ask for ketchup when we had fries and hash browns, and we asked for strawberries on our pancakes but the waiter said that they couldn’t do it. I mean, you have strawberry waffles, why cant you just put the same topping on a pancake? Anyways, lesson learned. I will continue to visit my usual Village Inn at Colorado Avenue & Mexico St.

I’m a big fan of Village Inn but this location is a big letdown. The pancakes were burnt, the grilled cheese didn’t have all the cheese it is supposed to, the hashbrowns were undercooked. All of this was such a big letdown and not at all as good as the other locations we love down south.

Dirty. The table was sticky. The chairs were dirty with food in between the wood and the cushion. Went to use the bathroom and it was unusable. We had to get up and leave. Very gross.

What an awful experience this was. The food was not up to par I would like to have some lettuce with my salad dressing. The waitress was so slow and forgetful«BRAINDEAD» she would make a corpse seem intelligent. She was more interested on waiting on large groups for better tips. A word that described the manager is a word only used outside of a kennel. She was rude and blames the customer rather than try to fix the problem. It took 45mins to get our food which was never correct as described previously. My mother and friend their food was over cooked the pancakes could have been used as a hockey puck if they ate it they would have looked like a hockey player. It so happens they were training a new cook the waitress told us and the last cook was sent back to Mexico for not having the right papers to stay or something. That’s another story. I really don’t care I just want good service and good food. I’m not there for a test run. I have given this Village Inn many chances. They are completely of my list.

*First, let me start by saying, I didnt want to give this location a lowly 2.5 stars. *Second, my review is of a standard, franchise, diner and it’s breakfast, interior characteristics, and service. *Third, as much as I enjoy really GOOD food, it is comforting to me to occasionally have a casual, relaxing, average Joe breakfast, with unlimited cups of your average Jo.(See what I did there.) Dining Room cleanliness– 4 Stars Bathroom cleanliness — 2 Stars Server Marissa — 4 Stars Host,(older gentleman) — 1 Star First impression/greet — 1 Star Leaving impression: 2 Stars Food: 4 Stars(As a franchise diner) *The bathroom could use and update, some air freshener, and the sinks could use some Drain-O. *Marissa, my server, was extremely attentive, polite, & professional. Why knock off a star? Ill get to that in my next explanation. * The Host(manager???) sat at a table visiting with a guest as I walked in. I sat at the front bench as I saw no sign saying please seat yourself. He glanced at me and continued visiting. All of the servers, more than once, glanced at me, then continued their work. Approximately 10 minutes later, upon my thoughts of seating myself or leaving, the host says, «Can I help you?» I told him I was sorry I didn’t know I was to seat myself. I wasn’t supposed to as it turns out, he was. He said he was sorry and thought I was here for an interview… WHAAAA??? In the unusual case I was here for an interview, I would still want to be greeted, or asked if an interview was in fact the reason I was here for… *I enjoyed my leisurely visit, 7 cups of coffee, appropriately portioned diner breakfast, & might try again sometime, in desperation for caffeine and fuel. *Eggs. I am really picky about my eggs. I ordered them over medium, and they were perfect. So I am very happy to have a breakfast place that can properly cooks eggs to order, you’d be surprised how many places get it wrong. So kudos to the line cook… If I ever come back, it would be to order a French Silk Pie To-Go.

Yuck. This was my first time going to a Village Inn. I’m much more of a Perkins or Dennys type of person. This particular Village Inn might of ruined it for me forever. The place was very dilapidated looking. The service was very slow, and the food was fairly subpar. I ordered a club sandwich, which is pretty much one of the staples of an American diner type restaurant. The sandwich was dry, burnt, and nearly inedible. Asking a waitress for a condiment side took 10 minutes, and her bringing it out took another 5. The restaurant wasn’t even very busy either. Probably won’t be back to a Village Inn, definitely won’t be back to this Village Inn.

Consistently good food off the menu, lots of options which is nice, especially considering my food allergies. The family and I come here every Sunday after church and apparently so does everyone else and their mother, so be prepared for a wait. However, I’ve dropped by a few times for a quick lunch with the boyfriend on weekdays and at different times, and despite occasionally being completely empty, the service and food is still extremely slow. But, if you’d like to sit and chat a while, that’s perfect right? Free pie on Wednesdays is a definite perk(and it’s pretty good pie if you ask me!) but whatever you do, don’t order the«orange juice” — its more like water masquerading as OJ. ;)

With the recent addition of a top notch general manger(Caleb), this Village Inn is our go to spot for weekend breakfasts and week day dinners. It’s truly a blast from the past with good quality home style family food and friendly service… plus don’t forget their tasty pies!
