I took him to court and won. He never paid me, even with that.
If you’re going after him (legally) let me know. I will give you my case number to present to the police and any information i may have. Maybe if many people file, it will catch the attention of the police. As they don’t seem to be able to do much with single reports.
My advice try and find out where he lives and note his vehicle license plate number and vehicle description. Take a picture of it. So you can serve his papers. If you know where he lives, post it here so others can sue him. With no address to serve him, it’s a little harder to take any steps. I’ve been contacted by 2 people already and I’m sure there is more.
He doesn’t just steal your money and materials, he’ll take more if he can so be careful and don’t turn around if he’s at your property. Don’t pay a deposit or anything until he’s fully completed the job. Because he doesn’t come back.

He ripped me off too. Two weeks of promises to come, unanswered phone calls, different lies that his car broke that he moved elsewhere and so on. Everyone who is ripped off by that guy should contact others in this situation to team up together against him. Besides taking money, often as cashed checks — he most likely does not report his income — which will be a tax fraud. He also uses a fake License number on some of his Craigslist posts.

Thomas took my deposit for $ 1000 for materials for a new vinyl fence… Back in April of 2011.
Thomas NEVER did the work.
Thomas dodged our calls.
I took him to small claims and won… Only still can not collect payment.
Appears he has now moved to avoid the $ 1500 bench warrant to appear in court.
