Large selection of different plants. Staff is friendly. It is nicely organized with signs pointing you in the right direction. Spent nearly an hour walking around to see all they have.

I love Tropic World, they have unusual plants that you cannot find at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Some of the plants are pricey — if you’ve been around which we have then you might want to hold off on the basic succulents, etc. Everything is laid out and organized and the plants look healthy. I recommend them highly!

A decent place with some interesting options and a lot of pottery. Prices are a little high, but overall a nice place to visit. Despite the name, they have some interesting succulents and cactus and water-wise selections that are more fitting for the local climate, with some stuff you won’t find other places. Some of the larger cactus and succulents seem to have been sitting in expensive pots for too long, so are not the prettiest specimens. Most offerings are labeled, but not a lot of info on items(which would be helpful). I’ve found a few small succulent gems here, but have only indulged in a couple clearance shrubs from there. They have a good selection of pottery, much of it nicer than most box stores, but alsor fairly pricey. On one hand they kind of provide a good mix of options, but I never quite find the deals I’m hoping to find on it. I’m happy to see the succulents they do have and the drought-tolerant stuff I’m mostly interested in planting, and the pottery selection as well. However, it almost seems like the content is conflicted(as am I about it) with the tropical stuff, the roses, and the succulents, and in the end they’ve priced themselves just out of reach for when I do find something of interest. It’s nice to have a walk around and explore and get ideas, and see an eclectic mix from tropical to desert options, but after frequenting all the other local nurseries, I prefer heading up the 15 freeway a couple more miles, or over to North Broadway for the places that offer slightly more selection of desert plants and natives, and/or better prices.

Occasionally I make the hour plus drive to Escondido to visit Tropic World Nursery. I love cactus, succulents and exotic plants, which is what this nursery specializes in! Prices are pretty fair, some times very high for large specimens, and there are some really neat plants that you rarely see elsewhere. I will say they have a lot of plants that aren’t in the best shape, though. They must not have the manpower to re pot plants that are outgrowing their pots, so they are suffering. Still, it was well worth the drive for another visit.

Its a neat place. Lots of plants, great setup, beautiful pathways winding around. Love that dogs are allowed, too(on leash of course) but my biggest pet peeve is the greenhouse area. Many of the succulents are labeled«succulent» which is not helpful at all. No detail of what type of succulent they are and without a name I cant look up the care instructions for them.

Just left Canyon Pottery. I was Leary to drive such a long distance, yet my Incredible Landscape Arborist(Mike Flores) highly recommended them. Read all the comments on Unilocal, and I just have to put this«out there»!!! The employees that I spoke to(3), were extremely friendly, and very knowledgeable. I will travel the distance, and purchase products from this Buisness anytime. Good comments need to be written. The Bad comments are years old, and people would be missing out on a well run establishment.

I went there to pick up a few plants for my girlfriend’s mother’s landscape. I went there and found the plants I needed in like 5 minutes, but I stayed for half an hour just admiring what they had. The staff were very helpful and very knowledgeable and the prices were pretty good, too.

LOVELOVELOVELOVE this place! Six months after moving into our new home we were in desparate need of some new plants. I was burnt out on the cheap-looking Lowe’s and Home Depot plants that I had been trying to work with. I found that while you will spend $ 20 for a 5 gal plant verses $ 6 for a 1 gal plant, it’s a much better value! It looks MUCH nicer right away and you have a better idea how large the plant is going to grow so spacing them is easier too. The staff here were SO kind. They were great with my toddler, answered all my questions and had some great advice! I will be getting all our plants there from now on!

This nursery is has been there for about 40 years, and I remember it before slow old Highway 395 became mega freeway 15. Specializing in roses, unusual tropicals and succulents, they have acres and acres of hard to find perennials, specimen trees, boxed palms, cactus, and bamboo. Tropic World is where i go to find top notch quality and something out of the ordinary. They have lots of citrus, a great selection of ceramic pots, and savvy sales people. They have quite a large number of Proteas and Grevilleas. It’s true that there isn’t much in the way of annuals, but I can find elsewhere. And frankly, why plant a short lived annual every year when I can plant a perennial once? At the point of writing this they have tons of different succulents in 4″ pots for about $ 3. But I have to bring up the roses! There are so many that you can see them from the freeway! An employee told me that they were busy at work potting up over 5000 roses for 2008! I am a serious plant addict and Tropic World is a great place to get my fix.

One of my favorite places to visit when I’m driving down the Avocado Highway(I-15). Their selection of bedding plants are limited but where they shine are their selection of cacti, succulents, bougainvillea, fruit trees and specimen plants. The service is always friendly and helpful. Prices are modest and parking is plentiful.
