Had a fantastic experience here. Went in wanting to purchase a bike, gave the employee my price range and what type of bike I was looking for, and he showed me what he thought were the best options based on my needs. Very friendly and knowledgeable and didn’t judge the fact that I didn’t know anything about biking! Definitely will be returning for repairs/tuneups. Ended up purchasing a fantastic bike for a fantastic price!

Incredible service. I cam in from out of town and the guy met me off store hours to do a bike rental. Great rental bike with all the amenities. Really pleasant staff!

They do not rent mountain bikes. The guy was a little condescending when I asked to rent one. Somewhat helpful but still condescending. Not cool.

Needed a repair last minute, and Paul’s stayed open past closing to help me out. Super nice people, A+ service!

Great service. I’m always impressed whenever I’m in the shop. I’ve rented bikes from the shop multiple times and they are always friendly and have made adjustments on my personal bike for free while I’m in there.

I have consistently been impressed with this shop. Their prices are as good as anyone in town and they often comp the labor cost of installing new components. In addition they also will tighten and adjust things that they notice while working on your bike for free! You can always find cheaper bike stuff on the internet but the service at Paul’s is the reason you pay a little more. One thing though… the picture is their old shop. They’ve moved to the other side of Charnelton.

Love all the Paul’s shops. Always excellent service and great selection between the three shops. Great for road bikes, commuters, mountain bikes, kids, BMXAND usually have the two most common sizes of wheelchair tires. Highly recommended! Buy Local!

We rented hybrid bikes for the day from Paul’s Bicycle Way of Life. We heard that the bikes go quickly so we got about ten minutes before they opened and glad we did. By 10:05 or so, the shop was packed with customers. Bikes are reasonably price. We enjoyed a 25 mile bike ride in Cottage Grove(covered bridge tour).

Although they have a reasonable assortment of bikes their customer service is the pits. I have been in many times & have had just adequate service only about half the time. Today was so bad I was motivated to post. I went in with my on to get him his first bike. There were no other customers and yet no one treated us when we walked up in(standard practice for a bike shop) & no one ever came over to us. I picked a bike for him to try and after about 10 min of waiting got it down myself and took it to the woman at the counter. She said, «do you want something?» when I said he would like to test it but that the back wheel wasn’t working(training wheels on wrong) she wordlessly took it, adjusted it, handed it back and went back to flipping through some bike rag. I put it back and walked down to Hutches where we had GREAT service and bought a bike. I will never give Paul’s my service again.

I went into Pauls to rent a bike today. I was staying at the Inn on 5th and the concierge recommended Paul’s because it was close. After standing around for no joke, 15 minutes! I finally left. Please tell your staff that all they have to do is acknowledge a person standing there, it’s simply manners. I went to the Blue Heron bike shop by the campus and it was a much nicer experience!

I was looking for a urban commuter bike and wasn’t specifically looking to buy a new one. However, after comparing prices of refurbished bikes, some used and other new retailers, I found a deal at Paul’s on 6th that could not be beat. They have a great selection of new bikes and competitive prices on some makes. Very good supply of gear, accessories and tools. The sales staff was very helpful for a bike novice such as myself. They showed me the types and size of frames that would best work for a person of my stature, listened to my silly questions about durability, safety, and general maintenance, and showed me the most effective way to secure my bike when I am out and about. They were able to add fenders and a basic rack for less than $ 50 and I couldn’t be happier about the whole experience and service I received.

I recently bought a bike at Paul’s on 5th and have to say I was very unimpressed with the experience. The store had a good selection of bikes and accessories, but the sales guy made me feel like I was interrupting his day. When my husband bought his bike at the Alder Street store the sales guy, Tom, was very friendly, informative, and helpful, and my husband left the store excited to ride his new bike. I didn’t get that feeling at 5th Street. I won’t be returning to this store, but I will go to Alder St.(which would get 4 stars) or check out the W. 11th store since it is closer to home.

Meh. I’ve seen better. The draw with Paul’s seems to be that it is one of the original shops around. And generally, the people working are friendly and knowledgeable.. But, I bought a bike a couple of years ago as a gift for a child, and it had some new technology which, a year + later, malfunctioned. When I took it in they had no idea how to fix it, or how it worked. They also had no interest in supporting it beyond their warranty period.

I had no intention of buying a bike the first two times I went into Paul’s, I was just buying a rack for my friend’s bike. But after coming in and trading out a few different racks I decided I wanted a bike and Paul’s was where I’d buy it. The bike I wanted wasn’t put together in the frame size I needed, but Bryan told me no problem they would build one just so I could test ride it and see if I wanted it. They gave me a call when they said it would be ready and I went down and took it for ride. It stood out to me that they didn’t want to hold my ID or anything, they were laid back about the test ride. Once I came back in I had decided I wanted the bike. Bryan informed me that last time I returned a rack I only received part of the refund that was due to me. That had been about two days so it surprised me he remembered and so I got a few bucks off my new bike. It was a great experienced dealing with everyone who worked there. They run an honest shop and know what they are talking about.

This place is great! I have gone here repeatedly with questions and for equipment upgrades and installation. They are always extremely friendly and helpful, and have on more than one occasion not charged me for their services(at three different locations). Last week I had them install fenders for me, and it took them about three hours, and they charged $ 15 for the installation. It can’t get much better than that. Thanks, Paul’s!

Rented bikes from here for a day of riding around one of the most bike friendly cities I’ve ever encountered. Got two bikes, two helmets, two locks and two bungee cords for about 40 bucks. Sorta pricey but the shop guys were really friendly and had good tips about local riding. You can choose to pay an extra 5 bucks per bike and return them the next day or pay 20 per bike and return them by 7pm(close time).
