Passed by the town many times and this is my first time eating here. For a place where I barely see many Chinese people, the food is not bad. I give a plus to the fast service and price. Also plus the potion is rather large for dinner.

Super greasy, gave me sweet and sour sauce instead of lemon chicken sauce… Batter on the chicken wasn’t fully cooked and no utensils or napkins in the bag for my to go order… I had to make a spoon out of a styrofoam cup in my hotel room so I could eat my rice… The people working there were nice but the food could have been much better… I was sick of driving and starving or I would have just gone to a fast food place…

I love the owner here!!! Every time I come in, he is so friendly and sweet! I’ve tried the lo mein which is always huge, hot and sour soup, wonton soup, egg drop soup, and orange chicken. They are all very good except the orange chicken has too much of a real orange flavor for my taste. Also the hot and sour soup is a hit or miss because sometimes it can taste pretty vinegary. This is definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area besides Annie’s Cambodian, which also has some Chinese food.

This was my first time thru here and I’m so glad I found Chin’s on Unilocal!I love orange beef and theirs gets top marks… and at $ 10 you can’t go wrong. It came out pretty fast and I was back on the road. I’ll be back.

I’m honestly really surprised that this place has such high ratings. I ordered a combo plate with chow mein and sweet and sour chicken, the chicken was decent, but the chow mein was pretty bad. It looked like they dumped a bag of frozen vegetables on top of it, there was corn, green beans, etc all the things you see in those frozen veggie bags. You would think that if you pay for restaurant priced food, the least they could do is serve you fresh veggies. The water cup that they gave me tasted faintly like soap, so it obviously wasn’t cleaned properly. Anyway, I had plenty of leftovers, which I usually love, but I ended up throwing them away because they just weren’t very good. Also, my body felt really gross the next day. The staff seemed nice, but overall it was a very unpleasant experience. Would not recommend.

There is not much decent Chinese food in our area here behind the Redwood curtain, so having Chin’s Café here even though it is over 25 miles away from our home we try to stop by for a good meal whenever we are down on the south side of Humboldt bay. Chin’s is consistently good Chinese food. This place has been here for years and every time we eat here its always a solid good meal. Friendly family run service that is prompt, courteous and kind, don’t let the outside of this place fool you or the fact that it is beside and rundown motel(lots of transient and low ends) the food is worth a stop. There are all of the standards that you expect to find on a menu of a westernized Chinese food restaurant. As well, they have a decent selection of Soda, Beer, Wine and Sake. The General Tao’s Chicken is right on the mark, nice pieces of chicken thigh meat well prepared and fried to perfection then covered in that tangy spicy sauce. The Kung Pao Chicken is also a solid choice as well, a large serving mixed with veggies, chicken, peanuts and an awesome spicy sauce. Both the hot and sour and egg drop soups are quite tasty as well. Try the half order of fried shrimp — awesome! The house Sake warm is also a nice choice, as are all of the bottled beers. We have eaten here a few times now over the past few years and every visit we are greeted promptly, seated immediately and waited on professionally — the food has always been hot, prepared to order and served quickly. This is our go to place for Chinese food in the area. 3.5 Stars — rounded up for community support. Worth a visit when you are looking for good Chinese food in the Humboldt bay area. 294

Very clean. Staff very pleasant. Service was great. The orange peel beef was very tasty and probably the best Asian beef dish I’ve had locally. I haven’t been here in years and will definitely be back to try other dishes.

Great food and even better service! Arrived into town hungry and 15 mins before this restaurant closed. The owner was still so pleasant and welcoming, didn’t rush us, and we had very delicious and warm food! Ordered the chicken chow mein, war won ton soup, combination rice, egg drop soup, and hot tea.

I rarely write reviews, but I was extremely disappointed. I should have question my choice, because the place was almost empty during dinner time. I would have sent my meal back, but unfortunately it was take-out. I had the Moo Goo Gai Pan, Won Ton Soup and Fried Won Ton. The dish looked old. The vegetables were limp/over cooked. The serving of rice was tiny. The won ton soup taste like pure salt water with very little flavoring. The Fried Won Ton was fried flat noodles No Meat. When I called to tell them that I was given chips instead of fried won ton. I was told by the owner that this is the way they have been making the won ton recently. Whoever heard of fried won ton without the meat. Obviously a way to cut corners. Wouldn’t recommend.

My family has been coming to Chin’s off and on my entire life. The past 2 years my husband and I come here about once a month. The food is great. The most enjoyable aspect is Paul, he greets us by name and always remembers what my specific order is. He is so charming and makes a great meal that much more special. Chin’s is such a special place in my heart!!!

Went for dinner with a couple of friends. Nice and welcoming staff. Food was fairly good. The restaurant could need a thorough clean-up.

This place is a little Eureka secret. Now, the ambiance is not so much. It’s kind of a 1950’s, hole-in-the-wall place. But the food is to die for! General Tsao’s chicken is my benchmark dish, and Chin’s has the best in the county! Their Mongolian Beef is delicious as well, as is the Pork Fried Rice. The service is better than anywhere else in Humboldt. They only allow 5 stars on Unilocal, but I would give Chin’s 10.

Came here again a few days ago. Great experience again. My cousin got the lo mein and I got the teriyaki chicken. She enjoyed her meal and the chicken was good. The broccoli was really fresh too. The chicken wasn’t dry and the sauce wasn’t too salty. My cousin’s lo mein was nice and full of vegetables and meat. The noodles also were cooked well and not soggy. The service was fast, and attentive. Definitely will come back next time.

I promised a friend Chinese food, my treat, and told him to find the best rated place using the Unilocal Android app. We were literally next door and I hadn’t seen it because of some trees in the way. Got a laugh out of that. I think the most outstanding aspect of this place was the service. Our server(I didn’t catch his name, and I feel bad about it) was so incredibly over the top awesome. He was possibly the most cheerful person I’d seen in ages and his mannerisms were polite almost to the point of novel formality — yet he was personable. We just all around got a really great feeling from him. He made us smile. Plus the food was fantastic. Everything tasted wonderful. There’s a super weird hotel behind the restaurant. Not sure if it’s actually associated with Chins or if someone just assumed. We had a view of some home-modded camper/van from our booth. It was creepy, but we were enjoying our meal so much that the hotels horror factor seemed distant and amusing, rather than anything off putting at all. If our server happens to read this, you were excellent, sir! New favorite spot!

Not sure what the hype is about this place but I wasn’t impressed. I had Chin’s Special LoMein, and I wouldn’t go back to have anything else. They do have generous portions though, which is nice. Would not recommend.

Disclaimer: we were very hungry and had been traveling cheap only eating fast food. With the above in mind this place was amazing. Chin was very courteous and helpful, his service was excellent. We ordered chicken chow mein and beef broccoli, it was enough to feed two very hungry adults. The portions are very good for the price. The meals were so flavorful that I never even reached for the soy sauce. Overall based on my experience I would highly recommend this awesome little gem.

I loved it! I had the egg flower soup and mango ginger chicken special. Food was very hot! But it’s better to get hot food than cold food. The waiter was really nice and silly. Food came out in a timely manner and I really enjoyed it. Definitely going back! The lunch special looked pretty awesome! :)
