This review is in reflection of the EXTREMELY poor service! I have been to Michelle’s several times and have always been greeted with a smile, the food has always been excellent, and service impeccable. HOWEVER, there has been a staff addition that may make me NEVER return again. When we arrived she greeted us with a sigh and a rude how many? Instead of showing us to our table she pointed to the table in the back room and said guess you will have to sit there. When we asked for a highchair she again seemed put out by doing her job. When it was time to order she was VERY unfriendly and RUDE when asked questions about menu, she even walked away while I was trying to order my daughters drink and we had to ask another server. 2 orders were incorrect and she brought the food at all diffent times making it hard for our party to eat together. We received a lot of attitude when we asked for refills and before we could even ask about or order desert she literally slammed the checks on the table and never came back. We wanted to order desert my husband need a refill, my daughter needed water. We waited 15 – 20 minutes and I finally had to go find her to pay. After the way she acted she had the audacity to add gratuity to the bills. Normally I tip 20−25% so 18% wasnt the issue, I have been a server and I know how difficult it can be, but there were MANY empty tables and she took bad service to a whole new level. In the end when I had to go find her she gave a half ass snide apology and took the gratuity off the bills at my request. It really felt like she was prejudice against us becasue we had children in our party. My 2 year old was looking at the flowers on the table and saying how pretty they are and she immediately ripped them from the table. There were 4 adults at the table to make sure they were taken care of and my child was just admiring them. So very disappointed!

My 10 year old and I wanted brunch so we stopped in for the first time recently. I had eggs benedict with flash fried spinach and my daughter had biscuits and gravy. She’s kind of a picky eater, but she devoured her biscuits and gravy. My eggs benedict were really good too. The spinach was a very nice addition! We’ll be back to try some other things soon!

Nice little place for a late breakfast. The cheese omelet was good but a little small. The stuffed biscuit with country gravy was different, but also on the small side for the price. Very nice staff.

My friend and I went here for lunch the other day since we were already in the Eureka area. The reviews were good, so we decided to give it a try. It was a Tuesday afternoon and we started as the only customers in the place. Cons: No air conditioning(it was the end of July) flies were flying around We ordered a sandwich and salad(neither had to be cooked) and it took 45 min to get our food. The other waitress hovered while we were eating our food After spending 45 min to make a salad and sandwich, all we received was an «I’m sorry it took so long» Pro: Hmm can’t think of anything that will bring me back in. I love supporting local businesses, but Bread Co would be a much better choice based on our experience.

When I travel, I like looking at Unilocal to help me choose restaurants. So thank you to the St Louis Unilocalers for the heads-up on Michelle’s Café. My brothers and I had been at a family reunion at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Eureka, and we wanted a Sunday breakfast before hitting the road, and this was a great choice. There were 10 of us, but the staff had no problem finding seats for all of us. I liked having a choice of coffees and went with the bold one. I guess someone in our group had almost everything they has on the breakfast menu, and we all left happy. I had never heard of a stuffed biscuit before, so I just had to try it. Yeah, it was awesome. It was baked with sausage and cheese inside it, and was then smothered in sausage gravy, with eggs on the side. It is NOT a light breakfast, but if you’re up for the challenge, it is really, really good.

Fresh made soups, sandwiches, desserts made it worth a quick stop for lunch. It was nice to find a veggie burger option for me. My girls liked the gyros on pita bread. My mom said the grilled cream of asparagus was excellent. Michelle, the owner, waited on us and gave excellent service and conversation.

This place is great! The food was fresh, unique, and very tasty. The atmosphere was outstanding for lunch or hanging out to drink wine or coffee. I ate here while traveling from out of state. I ended up accidentally leaving my credit card, and they graciously mailed it back to me. These folks are awesome.

Driving back to Chicago and wanted to get a coffee before going thru St. Louis. Google maps suggested Michelle’s as the place to grab something good. Briefly stopped in and got a coffee. Realized it was a food place and not a coffee shop. The staff was extremely friendly and the black coffee was delicious. Will stop by again when in the area.

The food was amazing and the service was top notch! Loved supporting local business while away from home. There were more things we wanted to try but our stomachs were only so big. We had the everything omelet and the stuffed biscuit with pancakes. Everything was made from scratch and delicious!!!

Great food, fast service, clean restrooms. What more could I ask for when I want good food fast, but not fast food. Awesome crab cakes made with REAL crab meat. Just a note: all water in the city of Eureka tastes bad. Next time I’ll just bring my own.

Not anymore… used to be good, rude staff has ruined this place. Please train the staff to understand that the business depends on the satisfaction of every guest. Good food will not matter if people don’t return due to poor treatment.

I use to patron Michelle’s from day one at least once a week. My favorite was the chicken club and the to die for gooey butter cookies. Staff was friendly and the food was great. Quaint little place to enjoy lunch. I have since moved to Va but still have a home near Eureka. I couldn’t wait to visit Michelle’s today, but when I chose a seat I was asked to move due to the fact where I was sitting(table and 4 chairs) was reserved for larger parties.(my party consisted of 3). My party was appalled and I was a bit irritated. Enough to say I lost my appetite and we left and will never patron again.

Pricey and Rude Thought we would give this local spot a try and were very disappointed! I ordered the special quiche and fruit for $ 8.95, he ordered biscuits and gravy. Mine came out a small piece of quiche(think that a pie was cut into 8 pieces) and cold as if it had been sitting out for quite a while. I motioned to my server and explained that I preferred a hot breakfast and sent it back for scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes. There is an open kitchen here and it was easy to hear the owner/cook raise her voice and question the server multiple times, repeat my re-order, and then proceed to blame the server. My order returned hot and ready. I apologized to our server for the problem; she replied that cooks can be fussy. I was still charged for the quiche and we left agreeing that we would not return.

My wife and I have been trying to get in here for a while. We had a gift certificate that actually expired in the Spring. It did not have an expiration date, in fine print at the bottom it states it expires 6 months after it is issued. We asked if we could use it today($ 15, we spent $ 39 with tip), they said we cannot use it. That was disappointing. We have never had a place not honor a Cert unless it was years old. Service was so so. Nothing special. They are friendly, but, nobody stood out. First person to greet us was actually someone from back inside the kitchen. It was friendly. Hmm. The waitress asked us twice if she could take our drink order. We already gave it to her and we’re waiting for them. :) I think she was only waiting on 2 tables. The food was served pretty fast. I had the stuffed biscuit and eggs. Flavor was good. Portion was not large. My wife ordered a bowl of soup and a large Caesar salad. They was not bad, not great. The portion was not large. I would call it a small. We also ordered a salad to go, it looked good, but, was not a very big portion for a large. It fit in a med sized styro take away container. Obviously, our experience was a bit tainted by the fact they would not accept our Gift Certificate, that was our mistake for not reading the fine print at the bottom. We live 5 minutes from here and finally decided to go after seeing a spot on the news about it. We were a bit let down, probably will not suggest people trying it and wish them the best. Customers are not #1 at Michelle’s Based on portions, not accept the Gift Cert and service, I think the $ bottom line is #1. :(

Fresh ingredients, good service, good vibe. Great breakfast — omelettes were superb, their house sangria is great(and not skimpy on the alcohol). The service we received was fantastic as well and for a «small town» sort of café that was a pleasant surprise. The interior of the café/restaurant is cute and can seat quite a few people, I know one of my concerns was the size of our party and they easily seated all 6 of us. The reason this isn’t a 4 star review is simply because of the pancakes. They were very mealy and not very good, at least to me. The rest of the party seemed to enjoy them though. When I think pancake I think light and fluffy not dense and crumbly. All and all, I would totally give this place my business again but just avoid the pancakes.

I really wanted to like this place and with 4 stars how bad could it be? Well I was not impressed. I like eating out and feel like I am a pretty good judge of a well run business. This is most definitely not well run. I was afraid that Robert Irvine from restaurant impossible was going to walk through the door at any minute. It’s all about expectation. I came on a Friday night for a meal with my wife and two kids. The quesadillas portion was small and ready in 5 minutes — likely not fresh chicken. I ordered the blackened ribeye which was expensive. The steak was seasoned well; however, it was thin and tough — just not a great cut of meat. My wife ordered the hummus appetizer. The hummus tasted fine but the carrots had a white film on then — as if they had sat in the fridge for two months. I’m sorry Michelle’s café but it just has to better when serving the public.

We were in the area for an event and wanted to try something new. it was going to be a late lunch so this review can’t tell you how it is during busy time. The place looked interesting, a mix of Italian décor and generic restaurant stuff. It was a good sign when we opened the door and the aroma was pleasant. We were 4 minutes late for breakfast(stops serving it at 2pm) so we hit the lunch menu. I ordered the Chicken Club with a side of broccoli. My wife had the French Dip w/Gouda. Eureka water tastes ‘different’ but I was so dehydrated I drank it anyway. It didn’t take long to get the food. The waitress was surprised how green the broccoli was. What other color should it be? The kitchen steamed it just right. Hot but not over done and squishy. The flavors were very good for both of our sandwiches. I usually don’t eat bread but this bread we nice, softish, and warm. We split a homemade Gooey Butter cake for dessert. It was VERY rich. Very good and looked and tasted homemade. We will probably make this our stop when we are in Eureka.

If you want to spend a few hours of your paycheck this is the place to come to. The prices are ridiculous. We spent $ 27 on breakfast for two adults and a kid. I got your basic 2×2×2 style breakfast and it was like $ 9. Absolutely nothing special about this place at all. I am assuming there prices are high because there really isn’t any other sit down breakfast places in the area. I think the kids meal was something like $ 5.50 for breakfast and she got a few small silver dollar pancakes, an egg, and a piece of sausage with milk. The server was fantastic, the food mediocre, the ambience was good. I just would never go out of my way or stop here again.

My college chum and I started our Eureka exploration with lunch at Michelle’s. Upon entering, we were greeted and told to sit wherever we wanted. And we were greeted by a number of patrons. Ahhh, the joys of a small town. We both started with a Diet Pepsi. It was amazingly horrible. We both took a sip, grimaced in unison, and told our server something was wrong with the soda. She said, «You’re not from around here, are you? It’s Eureka water.» WHAT? I thought they got their soda as soda. Evidently not. They get the syrup and mix it to create the soda. It tasted detergenty/bleachy. .. unpalatable in any way. She offered bottled water, but as it turns out, they were out of regular bottled water. She had Pellegrino in a two-sip bottle(probably 6 ounces) for $ 1.50. We didn’t do that. So our server mentioned that she finds a squeeze of lemon helps. So we got lemons to squeeze into our Diet Pepsi. That helped A LOT. Why does Eureka have such awful water? It’s in St. Louis County. Shouldn’t they have the same water I have at my house? After that hurdle, we ordered. My college chum got the pear and strawberry spinach salad. I believe it had poppy seed dressing. There were some cheese and nuts. She said it was good. And she got a fresh-out-of-the-oven yeast roll. I got the gyro. It came with homemade chips. The gyro was tasty. Plenty of meat and feta. Lots of tomatoes. A nice amount of lettuce. I did miss olives, but they probably would have been black olives and not Kalamata olives. The homemade chips were fine. I think all but four remained on the plate. Our server was friendly and attentive.
