The same thing happened to me as Laurie B. The associate took ALL7 of my items on Sunday, then another person called me back on Monday, saying they were only taking two items! Now I need to pick up the«rejects!» Will not sell to them again.

I was in the store shopping on Monday and asked about The consignment process. I specifically inquired about the items they needed. An hour later I brought my things back and waited about an hour while the associate went thru them. She took 11 of my items and handed me a ticket. Today I got a call from the manager saying they were going to return 4 items. So basically the manager didn’t agree with her associates decisions. I felt this was extremely rude and a waste of my time. I should have read the other reviews before going here. I’ll take my things to the downtown store from now on!

I’m a bit surprised by some of the reviews given to this store. I have shopped here many times and never had a bad experience. The ladies that work here are friendly and professional. The pricing is on target for the name brands. The store is clean and very well kept. My only complaint is the sizes they offer… but they can only sell what is brought in. I just wish there were more people who would consign their clothes who were size 10 – 14.

I dropped my daughter off at Northwestern and had an extra day before catching my flight, so I went into this store and bought a $ 70 Eileen Fisher sweater. Not a steal by any means, but I liked the sweater. That night in my hotel, I found while routinely checking my bank accounts that the store had accidentally charged me twice. It was an honest error, so I went back the next morning to straighten it out. I expected the transaction to take five minutes, but instead the woman – the same person who had sold me the sweater the previous day – became very hostile and defensive. She said the banks often post a charge twice, that I should wait a few days, that the charge wasn’t really posted, that I should call my bank, that I didn’t know how debit transactions work. She refused to look at my account page, which clearly showed a posted transaction, and refused to speak to the bank officer on the phone, saying«I don’t need to.» Exasperated, I asked for a phone number for the Boston office, but she refused by saying«it’s in a different time zone so you wouldn’t be able to reach anyone.» She finally called the corporate office, but when she saw me hang up my phone with my bank, she told the office person, «Nevermind, the customer said the bank has fixed it.» I had said NOTHING. I have never encountered a sales person who told such bold faced lies without blinking an eye. If you sell your clothes here, I can only imagine the dishonesty perpetrated by the store. After I got home, I called the Boston office«in a different time zone» and was refunded my money the same day, quickly and courteously. Just avoid this store like the plague.

This review is for the buying process. I’ve never tried to sell at STA. I walked into STA one afternoon after work when I noticed one of their $ 10 sale signs. I found a St. John’s top that was like new. But I also stayed to browse. There was a wide selection of clothing available for women, but the style of clothing is more for the working professional(sorry Northwestern students). They often offer 20%-50% off their price, depending what color the price tag is(kind of like DSW). I found a few pencil skirt suitable for work, and within a great price range. However, since this is a consignment shop, returns and exchanges are not allowed, and that might be something to remember.

This is not the one to go to! They return things without showing any respect to the items… just thrown in a box… not wrapped… dirty…things came back ruined, wrinkled… I would never touch them for selling or buying. The owner is lovely but the people she has working for her have no idea what they are doing. They had high end clothing of mine, as well as new and lower end pre-worn. They were unable to sell Jimmy Choo shoes??? brand new??? Don’t bother! Try another location or a different venue!
