Great hours that are super convenient for students! Books are usually cheaper than the on campus bookstore and the system is so easy. Best to come early in the quarter for nice, like new used books.

Beck’s is a nice mix between a book store and souvenir store. They pretty much have all textbooks you will need as a Northwestern student, and prices are cheaper than Norris. They also do textbook buybacks, and it’s really convenient because you can check online on their website before you visit in person to make sure they are buying back your specific book and also see how much they will pay you for it. They also have a good mix of souvenir items(merchandise overall isn’t as good«quality» as Norris’s, but definitely nicer than Campus Gear, so it’s a nice medium). They also tend to have a better assortment of random goods compared to Norris(e.g. Hello Kitty/Domo stuffed animals wearing Northwestern t-shirts, «Nerdwestern”/“Northwasted» shirts, etc.) Definitely a good resource.

Better deal than Norris but not by much. NU gear is also pretty pricy. I only use Becks to sell books, and you get an okay price. Use their website to check how much you can get for your stuff and bring your quote with you! They offered me $ 40 for one of my textbooks in person, but online it said $ 50, so I mentioned it and they gave me the ten bucks. This has happened to me in the past too but I didn’t ask, regret regret. I don’t know if it’s a glitch in the system, or if they’re trying to gip students on purpose. But seriously, have a little foresight and buy your used books on Amazon for much cheaper(some used books even have free two day shipping with Amazon student). Amazon textbook buyback is also usually a better deal, although I don’t bother to ship my stuff unless there’s a significant difference.

NU students: DONOTBUYYOURBOOKSATNORRIS! First look for used copies here, and if that fails(which it probably won’t), check listings for used copies on Amazon Marketplace online. But do not, under any circumstances, purchase your books at Norris unless you enjoy getting ripped off. When it comes time to sell your books back, though, I recommend looking them up first on Amazon Marketplace and see what used copies are going for. If you can get more than $ 10 for a book, I suggest selling it online rather than back to Beck’s. Everything else, just bring to Beck’s and take the cash. I’d also like to thank Beck’s for making pink Northwestern T-shirts. I compulsively bought one as soon as I saw them.

First plus is that one can find books cheaper here than at Norris, as Midori said(although I try to get my stuff on Amazon where it’s even less expensive). I have to admit that I like some of the NU-themed gifts they have here; they’re a little nicer than what you would find at places like Campus Gear. Steins, a variety of hoodies, stuffed animals, and a portable outdoor chair that one of these days I’m getting for my dad. If you’re going to get binders and pencils and stuff, though, just go to Jewel.

Good for Northwestern students. Not good for book and office supply lovers in general. They have a poor selection of flexible and/or colorful binders. They have a fair to good selection of notebooks and writing utensils. They do have better prices than at Norris bookstore both on new and used textbooks, so for those«f*%# I totally didn’t know we were reading that book moments», you definitely get a good price here. They also have fun things that are tempting, except that a lot of the stuff looks catered for the sorority crowd, which can be gag inducing to say the least.
