This place has gotten better, but still not what it could be. With new ownership and management, twice over I think, they have upgraded some machines and made it a better place to work out. It is still not great. I don’t go anymore, but my wife does. The staff still could care less in general, but what else do you expect for $ 10/month.

This gym is rarely crowded because even for a low rate, it is not worth it. Walking in the door, you will notice that when you scan your card before you’re allowed in, your personal information comes up on the computer screen, which faces you, and lingers there until the next person enters the gym. This means that any member has access to your address, phone number, and picture… in case you wanted anyone following you home after your workout. We complained to the owner, who shrugged his shoulders while watching TV over our heads, and replied…“We’ve never had a problem with that.” He refused to correct this, even though the solution which was suggested was just to turn the monitor around so that it only faces the staff. Of course then, if they had to move over to view the screen, they couldn’t see the TV, which apparently is VERY important to these young ladies. Speaking of the staff, they show a similar disregard for members, by never greeting people and sometimes scowling, not helping when approached with a problem, eating fried food in front of people that are trying to work out, and not washing their hands before they make smoothies in the juice bar. It took us weeks to get receipts of payment for insurance purposes, which should have just been a matter of printing a receipt out. If even the owner(who handles all the paperwork according to staff) cannot figure out how to print a receipt, he probably shouldn’t be running a business. Moving past the front desk, the locker room for women isn’t too bad. They did renovations and improved this area. However, male cleaning and painting staff are allowed to roam through this room with no announcement and at any time. The reason my friends and I had originally joined this gym was because they had a secluded women’s area which had cardio and weight machines, as well as free weights, a stereo, and areas for stretching. This was recently taken away and re-located in an area with no seclusion from male members and with machines that were mostly not working. ALso, since it wasn’t clearly labeled, male members constantly walked through and used machines or just hung out and watched. Which was a perfect opportunity for them to check out girls that they might want to follow home someday after getting their address off the computer at the front desk. The rest of the workout space is lacking lightbulbs and working machines. The cardio room has no lights besides the light from the TV screens which play videos chosen by the staff. Members have no ability to choose what they watch while they work out. There are rarely disinfectant spray and paper towels both available at the same time, giving one the feeling that the machines have not been properly wiped down. Many weight machines are missing the tool which allows you to pick the weight as well. The parking lot is also a hazard. It is never cleared of snow or ice, leaving it a danger for members. One of my friends fell in the parking lot because of black ice which was not salted. I would have no problem joining a gym with some faults if it were cheap and ownership did their best to meet members’ needs. But I have cancelled my membership this month(we’ll see how that goes!) because they do not deserve even the $ 25 per month that I was paying. In my opinion, they are incompetent, inconsiderate, and corrupt.
