Excellent place to go if you’re looking for delicious meats and fresh vegetables. Also, amazing desserts, custom cakes and great coffee. Bonus, great beer selection!

I come here every time I visit my parents in Stratham. Their meat cuts and sausages are always incredible — try the bison tips if you’re feeling adventurous. The pre-made sides are arguably the best I’ve ever had(the bacon pea pasta and cheddar bacon potato salad are my favorites). The deli and meat staff are super helpful; ask for Peter behind the deli. On top of the fresh stuff, they also have a great beer and wine selection; though frankly I only know beer — they always have Maine Beer Co, which is my favorite brewery. Definitely would take this place over a chain like Whole Foods every day and twice on Sunday.

I love little superettes like this. Thy have a fine selection of specialty items and microbrews. They have some prepared foods and also local specialities too. Money talks here, though. Be prepared to spend a small fortune on all the exciting items you buy! Some of the check out teenagers have been pessimistic little butts, but overall I love the layout and selctions. Obviously the clientele they are catering to is the rick folk from the area, my the dollar store junkie like me can dream, right?

Oh, On the Vine, how you continually sadden me. I am staring at my day old expensive green bananas which turned brown before turning yellow. How do you do it? I really think your only talent is to annoy me.

My husband and I were heading out of Portsmouth, back home to NYC. We decided to stop in On The Vine to bring some NH with us. New York grocery stores are pretty close to my imagination of hell, so getting it done in the spacious, pristine seacoast is a huge relief. We walked in to an entire wall of some of the freshest veggies I’ve ever seen in my life. It was an «ohhhh, that’s what a tomato is *supposed* to look like» moment. We picked up pretty much one of everything. I just finished cooking our second dinner in a row from these veggies, and they are to die for. I don’t know how I’m going to go back to dirt-flavored veggies after this. We also picked up some fresh lo-mein noodles, Terra Cotta ravioli, and two 6-packs of beer(they had hubby’s two very rare favorites!) The checkout girl seemed to be having a rough day, but everyone doesn’t have to be cheery all the time. I can’t wait to spend lots more time shopping here!

I would not use the bakery. We ordered well in advance a cake for our sons first birthday. I spoke atleast three times with the store and gave very clear directions on what we wanted. When we picked the cake up for his pictures it was all wrong and had a thumb hole in the side of it. Not only that the directions to what should of been done with the cake were on the box including *fix the thumb hole*!!! I can’t believe a business would present themselves this way and we will never return because of this experience. Very disappointing. Their reason was one girl was off for a few days so they decided to just do whatever I’m guessing. The communication, details and customer service were not worth returning.
