We had a good experience with Daniels Design & Remodeling and would recommend them to others. We used them for a major renovation that included adding an addition to our house as well as interior renovations including relocating a staircase. We felt like they did a good job understanding our needs and ideas and incorporating them into the design. They were timely in creating a design, obtaining permits and getting the project started. We like that they assign a lead carpenter to your project who is at the house every day to oversee what’s going on However, we did we did have some issues with our specific lead. Although he did some things well, we also feel like some of the delays we encountered could have been avoided if he had done things differently. We enjoyed working with the production manager, Michael, and felt that he was good about addressing any issues and concerns we had along the way. Michael met with us in person weekly to discuss our project and we found that very useful in keeping the communication open. We feel like Ted Daniels and his company are honest and sincere and want to provide the customer with the best experience possible. We love the finished project.

Sign a contract with this vendor at your own risk — we were told a certain price range, signed the contract based on the owner’s representations and then AFTER he collects an upfront design fee of $ 1500, he tells us the prices will be tens of thousands more than what we were initially told. Classic bait & switch — hope others can learn from our mistake. ************* In response to the vendor — After much haggling back and forth(we had to threaten legal action), he did return 50% of the design fee, so that is TRUE. However, the rest of his post is SPIN(at best, really it’s disingenuous, like this particular vendor). Here’s the real story: he was the first contractor to submit a quote and he told us $ 25k-$ 45k(depending on what we ended up selecting) and that most would be in that range. He was right — 2 other contractors we really liked gave us written proposals around $ 47k(by then, we knew definitively what we doing, so all the quotes were very close). The big difference is the other contractors put theirs in WRITING. Daniels only gave us a written quote after he collected his $ 1500, at which point we were given a $ 70k-$ 80k price tag. It’s outrageous, and I fully stand by my review — beware Daniels Design and their bait and switch tactics.
