I like this place. It’s cozy, friendly people and free internet. What’s not to like!

Every morning I drive by this little coffee shop and feel like Tiny Tim with his face pressed against the window, staring in awe at the Christmas goose. It’s impossible for me to stop in for a pre-dawn cup and some goodies because I don’t get my break until after 10 am. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a try after the breakfast rush and see what this little unpretentious, quirky place had to offer. First of all, it was very hard to find a parking spot. The entire south side of Sir Francis Drake Blvd. between Kent and Pastori is either a red curb or a green 20-minute only zone. The spaces on the other side of the street were taken, so I had to drive into the ‘hood and find a spot a block away. As I walked toward the coffee shop, it struck me that the building is listed«For Sale.» Wow! What does that mean? I walked in and was charmed by the kitschy, yet clean surroundings. Talismans of the morning rush were evident in discarded papers and dishes stacked in the sink. But … there was only one laid back employee running the show. The décor is knotty pine shaker, with a faux wood burning stove. Funky reggae music played softly on the overhead speakers and photos of Keifer Southerland in the Three Musketeers on the walls(what the heck does that have to do with Sir Francis Drake?) Here’s where the quirky part comes in. Alas and alack!!! The pastry display area was bare, and only three slices of the quiche were left. I was told that they have a resident baker who comes in and bakes fresh pastry each day … I was just too late. I settled for a cup of coffee and it was good. While drinking my coffee and reading the paper, the employee told me and the only other patron that she had to run down the road to get some half and half and asked us to watch the store! Okay! This little place is located 50 feet inside the town limit sign of San Anselmo, yet it has a Fairfax address. Go figure. Part of the laid back West County charm. They do have free Wi-Fi, but the employee doesn’t know what’s going to happen if the building is sold.

I stopped here today before I went to see my «evil mean pasta dude» for a jolt of caffeine for courage. What a really cute spot and great coffee. They do have a sign for waffles and french toast in the morning. They also have quiche and sands for lunch. Small comfortable seating. Really pleasant service. There is 20 min parking in front… It is easier to get to when you are leaving Fairfax going towards San Anselmo. They do have free Wi-Fi too!

This is a non descript little coffee shop on a very long stretching Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Since I am not from the area, I was disoriented and tired from driving all morning trying to follow poor directions in an area where signs are sporadic or non-existent. We stopped to get coffee and as we were getting out of the parking lot —- wah la —- it was the exact street we were looking for, but there street sign was about 1 block in from the main road. This was totally accidental and this café without knowing it saved us some gas money from being more lost. So, about the café … It’s sooooo clean! I mean the bathroom was spotless and so were all the little crevices under the table. The coffee was a-ok. We passed on the cinnamon rolls because it looked like someone forgot to use baking powder or baking soda.

A small café with a bright sitting area right on Sir Francis Drake. They have decent coffee and various light lunch and breakfast foods available. Lately I’ve seen signs up for waffles — I’ll have to return to check that out. The family running it are very caring and accommodating. My Grannie liked coming here during her stay because it was an easy walk and had a wheelchair accessible bathroom too. Good to note if you are passing through Fairfax and need a pit-stop that won’t take you off the main road.
